Literally the ONLY thing that might fail about The Dark Ages is that it's not going to have the same music, some copyright nonsense after the release of Doom Eternal.
The multiplayer mode in Doom 2016 was pretty throwaway. Also, Doom 1 didn't have any dedicated deathmatch maps. They were all repurposed single player maps.
Right. Because we haven’t seen time and time again, bad multiplayer games flopping and good singleplayer games breaking records. If only there was a franchise we could look towards to see this trend, like idk THE LAST TWO DOOM GAMES. The amount of ill informed individuals commenting on things they know nothing about is staggering this day and age
Game felt impossible on Ultra Nightmare difficulty. I don't understand how anyone can finish the last two DOOM games without ever dying once??? I played the game on Nightmare difficulty, and easily died well over 100 times. I guess I just suck.
Wow, now THAT is a bad take that I never thought that I will hear. I mean, a game that was made since the 90s only for the single player in mind, was now gonna be bad because the new game in the series will not have the multiplayer mode. That is straight up a brain rot statement right there. And then, it was not confirmed yet if it will have multiplayer or not, but it doesn't stop that guy from raging and complaining about it. But again, like I said that, Doom main game mode was always single player for the ages, and multiplayer was added a lot later. So yeah, it ain't gonna be a bad game just because it probably not gonna have multiplayer mode, thus that guy needs to get over himself for his own good. Before people bombard his comments and him.
Getting rid of battle mode was the best idea ID has ever had, however they should bring back the community created levels from 2016. Those were fun and were multiplayer
The multiplayer in both 2016 and Eternal were the weakest parts of those games and the reason this series has stood the test of time is because it's SINGLE PLAYER with a massive modding community.
It's funny how anyone can believe the game will fail just because it's single player news flash doom is like one of the most iconic video games of all time I think as well more people would prefer great single player games rather than the multiplayer copy and paste slop they've given us for years at this point at least you can always go back to a single player game whenever u want multiplayer games can shut down it's servers for good if there isn't enough players do these people need to be reminded how much of a failure games like concord were that game had been in development for 8 or so years only to be shut down in a couple of weeks
Tbh ever since I bought my PS4 (got it in 2016 and sold it in 2022) *I NEVER* touched an online play *NEITHER* bought a PSPlus for online subscription all of my games were single player the only games I used to play multiplayer were CoD and it was against bots it was just to have in the console with creating weapons creativity
If you want a game to by multiplayer, you have to design it around, at the cost of other things. typical multiplayer games have a small state size, that contradicts ideas like interactive environment or complex physics. In fact the bad random numbers in the original Dooms are a tradeoff, to keep the randoms number syncronized around a network.
Reminds me of the time when a few users complained about Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom not having online multiplayer in the comment section of KlutzyKing's video on Harman Smith dumping on Shadow of the Erdtree and I told those users TOTK was fine without MP but they insisted the game should've had it to begin with.
Honestly it'll be hard for a Doom multiplayer to shine when Xbox also has Halo. Halo is already part arena shooter particularly with it's movement and player durability. Granted Halo has been crap lately considering that multiplayer was the only good thing about Halo 5, and that Halo infinite finally got it's shit together with it's multiplayer like 2 years ago. However, if Halo's online multiplayer ever got back to what it used to be with Halo 3 then Doom will never have a chance.
So then why did Concord fail? Was it a single-player game? No. It was a multiplayer game. How did Astro Bot succeed being a single-player game? Games dont need to be a multiplayer game to succeed.
Between the successes of Doom 2016 and Eternal as well as the NightDive remaster of the classic games, Doom as a franchise has been doing phenomenally lately. Classic Doom in particular has never been livelier. So many new wad authors have entered the scene that there's always new stuff coming out. Really, I'm just glad that even after all these years, Doom is still Doom. Just about every other media franchise I grew up with in the 90s and 2000s is either dead or a shell of its former self. P.S.: I really hope Doom: The Dark Ages doesn't make me eat these words.
I have never truly played a Doom game. Mostly because I cannot play them well. My reactions are to slow. I still think they are fun games. I just can't complete them because I have trouble. I did finish one and two but I had to do it on rom and slow it down. I can't say I truly played them because of that.
You do realize the single player which Hugo said they are aiming to make the best shooter EVER will be of such High Quality the community would rather have the all efforts be put into that instead of splitting its focus.
@@Makarovmw371 it especially makes me upset how they then asked him to make more music in a short period of time for little to no pay, like, they did Mick Gordon something grimy
Dude... I only played Doom 2016 multiplayer for the online trophies, I can say the same thing about Doom Eternal's Battle Mode, but I haven't finished getting them there yet
I kinda agree. doom 2016 had a really fun multiplayer mode and I hope doom the dark ages gets something similar even if ID outsources it to another studio since battlemode was ass.
Almost everyone myself included does indeed play for the singleplayer however I think the game still SHOULD have multiplayer. Another big reason people dont care about Dooms multiplayer generally speaking is bc the singleplayer stuck to the roots of Doom where the multiplayers did NOT. Certain Affinity (the same company that put customizable loadouts and COD DNA into ANOTHER arena multiplayer with Halo 4) does NOT deserve credit for helping develop Doom 2016s multiplayer, they added customizable loadouts and Fortnite style emotes into whats supposed to be a metal af arena shooter. They ruined that games multiplayer just as they ruined Halo 4s. Then in Eternal they decided to add some MOBA FPS mode to Doom for... some reason. What SHOULD happen is they should bring back the TRUE classic fast paced arena multiplayer with arena only power weapons pickups AND an upgraded version of Snapmap from Doom 2016. I think people sleep on Snapmap a lot it was a genuine competitor to things like Halo Forge imo with things like custom AI spawns even on console. As much as I adore Dooms singleplayer (Eternal is literally my favorite FPS of all time) Doom has the genuine capability to be great in other categories too. They just havent done it right and/or simply havent given it their all and passion in the same way the singleplayer has gotten unfortunately.
I Remember back in 2017 when it was being said that single player games are dying. ah what a funny time we lived in. our when ever game was like shit we need a battle royal our some other trend. and many trends have died but the single player games still live on.
Singleplayer is better because it will never be dead. You can always come back to a singleplayer game. Multiplayer only games are dead as soon as support or player numbers drop.
When I played DOOM 1, 2, 3, and 64 most of the time it was single player the few times I played DOOM 2016 was the single player option hell the entire time I was playing 1&2 in high school it took a friend saying that there is a multi player for both of them
Most games i buy are single player, i dont have friends. When i do buy multi-player games i just play em by myself, dont buy dlc or cosmetics for multiplayer games, ill buy some dlc for single player games but only when its on sale
i mean boycotting is dumb but at the same time MP and co-op shouldn't be forgotten. doom 1 had MP since day 1 of the franchise starting, literally every mode in doom had was the definition of a doom game those modes were staples. i dont like these devs dropping modes and focusing on just SP. doom was never about that. im afraid this sht will turn into a bs tlou part 2 scenario. where we will never get a traditional MP or CO-OP again because people want a SP Experience more than a complete package. when we could've had them all. its important for doom TDA to have all 3 modes. there's no arguing that. P.s Battle mode was azz.
Wile is a real shame it might not have , but i hope then it will have enough content to replace it , like other modes , maybe the mp will be co-op now . I have a felling there will be more then just the SP campaing , 70 bucks for just a SP Campaign i don't know . MP PvP might also come after launch too as a free add on , i have a felling ID will talk about more . Also regarding Battle Mode it was an asymetrical mp and a pretty dam good one actually imo if you could get into it and learn it bc it had a learning curve . But asymetrical MP is not for everyone ,it is not all that big. Also if he plays on PC then and just want that deathmatch then there are literally mods that add that in Eternal . But regardless either way Doom was mostly about the SP , like you said MP was an added bonus , just like mods with most of them are for the SP Campaign as well .
Is this guy serious? I don't care if DOOM The Dark Ages is single player only, I never even cared about Battlemode in DOOM Eternal, Doom might be one of the earliest FPS's to have multiplayer, but multiplayer was more of Quake's thing. To boycott Doom for no multiplayer is like boycotting Call of Duty, not for valid reasons like Activision constantly nickel and diming us, but because one of the newer games doesn't have Zombies, which honestly should've stayed in Black Ops.
They most likely outsourced plenty more than just multiplayer Thats a common practice especially with yearly releases unless you asset flipującym ubi but like aaa games in old style are hella expansive and time consuming so parts of it like menus, models etc propertys are done by other companys who can do that
I couldn't care less about no multiplayer. I'm strictly a single player guy. I'm really looking forward to DOOM Dark Ages. I'd say day one purchase, but I prefer to wait till all the bugs are ironed out.
as if the multiplayer on the previous 2 games was a huge thing lmao 2016 multiplayer was like goofy halo, it is pretty fun but the campaign is more fun and eternal's battlemode just kind of sucks when you arent the slayer, since there is no telegraphing as to what your controls are so you just end up doing nothing
Glad they’ve ditched the half assed MPs of the last couple games. Especially 2016’s MP. Shit was so generic. People can claim it was great all they’d like. The numbers don’t lie and those modes died fast.
I've said this before and I will say it again. I hope they don't give Doom the Dark Ages a multiplayer mode. Eternal and 2016's multiplayer sucked hard, especially the 2016 one. I don't why people are mad about this. It's like getting mad at Battlefield for not having a singleplayer mode.
I think another issue is that they just try to do to much in the new multiplayers. I think people just want a simple Doom Deathmatch like the old games.
@@XyamaProductions The problem is how modern Doom games are right now. Modern DOOM + Classic deathmatch = Simply Quake champion (Only around 200-500 players playing it these days)

The multiplayer mode in Doom 2016 was pretty throwaway.
Also, Doom 1 didn't have any dedicated deathmatch maps. They were all repurposed single player maps.
Tf is this guy’s logic!?DOOM was meant for single player.
Single player of Doom Eternal was big and hard enough. People need to stop complaining if we're going to get at least more of the same.
He says while playing Spongebob
This person clearly never played Doom before 2016 and it shows.
Multiplayer no thanks, Single Player since Classic DOOM. What i dont want is Ray tracing & DLSS 3
Tbh idrc about multiplayer im missing the co-op mode
I cant wait to play doom the dark ages ITS going to be so fun
I have never truly played a Doom game. Mostly because I cannot play them well. My reactions are to slow. I still think they are fun games. I just can't complete them because I have trouble.
I did finish one and two but I had to do it on rom and slow it down. I can't say I truly played them because of that.
Classic Doom isn't really that crazy like the new games
@XyamaProductions It isn't, but my reaction speed still sucks.
The only valid reason to boycott the dark ages is the mistreatment of mick Gordon. I still hate what happened there. I wish it could be resolved
The funny thing is that Doom has an online mode that is better than most popular online games
You do realize the single player which Hugo said they are aiming to make the best shooter EVER will be of such High Quality the community would rather have the all efforts be put into that instead of splitting its focus.
Dark ages js going to suffer without Mick
@@Eh2004E considering how awesome the opening music was I think it will be fine, shame that he is gone tho
@@sneakycacti I hate how they did Mick! Gave him no time. But usually I listen to Avenged sevenfold and Metallica while playing.
@@Makarovmw371 it especially makes me upset how they then asked him to make more music in a short period of time for little to no pay, like, they did Mick Gordon something grimy
@@Makarovmw371excellent choices😊
@@Cdoom541 thanks! I recommend the killing floor 2 soundtrack
Even if doom dark ages doesn't have a online mod that's fine just make the game so good that people won't care about online mod will see
I bet more people don't have a single multiplayer achievement in Doom 2016 or eternal than have any
Just came here to say I LOVE the thumbnail!!🤣😂 The tiny cacodemon brain is the icing on the cake for me.
Dude... I only played Doom 2016 multiplayer for the online trophies, I can say the same thing about Doom Eternal's Battle Mode, but I haven't finished getting them there yet
Honestly, when I played doom eternal, I didn’t care about battlemode or starting a bethesda account, so I went offline to play the campaign.
I'm sorry the sarcasm is Hilarious to me. u just earned a subscriber.
Has any DOOM game had MP? I genuinelly need to check...
i just want to fly the dragon and attack the demonic hordes with him and use the giant mechs to kick demonic trash all over the earth
I kinda agree. doom 2016 had a really fun multiplayer mode and I hope doom the dark ages gets something similar even if ID outsources it to another studio since battlemode was ass.
How can someone complain about a single player game being a single player game while playing a single player game?
I Remember back in 2017 when it was being said that single player games are dying. ah what a funny time we lived in. our when ever game was like shit we need a battle royal our some other trend. and many trends have died but the single player games still live on.
the only reason i don't like doom the dark ages is that it looks like quake
and that makes quake more obscure and that's just really sad
Are those mod skins on some of your guns the the super shotgun or is there a way to get those skins
Singleplayer is better because it will never be dead.
You can always come back to a singleplayer game.
Multiplayer only games are dead as soon as support or player numbers drop.
I love doom so much
Doom was never strong with multiplayer. People still played it and am still buying it.
Does this guy have beef with single player games?
i mean boycotting is dumb but at the same time MP and co-op shouldn't be forgotten. doom 1 had MP since day 1 of the franchise starting, literally every mode in doom had was the definition of a doom game those modes were staples. i dont like these devs dropping modes and focusing on just SP. doom was never about that. im afraid this sht will turn into a bs tlou part 2 scenario. where we will never get a traditional MP or CO-OP again because people want a SP Experience more than a complete package. when we could've had them all. its important for doom TDA to have all 3 modes. there's no arguing that.
Sounds like he's related to Reforge
Half Life 2 was singleplayer yet it was still a fantastic game
Is this guy serious? I don't care if DOOM The Dark Ages is single player only, I never even cared about Battlemode in DOOM Eternal, Doom might be one of the earliest FPS's to have multiplayer, but multiplayer was more of Quake's thing. To boycott Doom for no multiplayer is like boycotting Call of Duty, not for valid reasons like Activision constantly nickel and diming us, but because one of the newer games doesn't have Zombies, which honestly should've stayed in Black Ops.
I liked 2016's multiplayer, but couldn't care less about Eternal's. I hope the Snapmap will return
They most likely outsourced plenty more than just multiplayer
Thats a common practice especially with yearly releases unless you asset flipującym ubi but like aaa games in old style are hella expansive and time consuming so parts of it like menus, models etc propertys are done by other companys who can do that
I couldn't care less about no multiplayer. I'm strictly a single player guy. I'm really looking forward to DOOM Dark Ages. I'd say day one purchase, but I prefer to wait till all the bugs are ironed out.
as if the multiplayer on the previous 2 games was a huge thing lmao
2016 multiplayer was like goofy halo, it is pretty fun but the campaign is more fun
and eternal's battlemode just kind of sucks when you arent the slayer, since there is no telegraphing as to what your controls are so you just end up doing nothing
Doom has literally only been getting better over time, if you think the new game coming out soon is going to fail, you’d be statistically wrong.
yall know this mans yt? its for research purposes
His name used to be 1upchuck and now he goes by the cynical gamer
Glad they’ve ditched the half assed MPs of the last couple games. Especially 2016’s MP. Shit was so generic. People can claim it was great all they’d like. The numbers don’t lie and those modes died fast.
I feel like it'll do great. I just don't care anymore after Eternal. The game burned me out so hard after a while.
2016 was fun with snap map
Idk about you but being an arena shooter where you got to play as one of the demons was neat
@@XyamaProductions The problem is how modern Doom games are right now.
Modern DOOM + Classic deathmatch = Simply Quake champion (Only around 200-500 players playing it these days)
