Good Vibrations was my favorite single of the year & Pet Sounds my favorite album. A fine year for Brian Wilson & The Beach ⛱️ Boys.

Good Vibrations was the first music I ever heard through stereo headphones. I was in 7th grade. It blew us away - we'ed never heard anything like it.

Any year that produces songs like “Paint it Black” or “Good Vibrations” is exceptional, and 1966 truly was. Even less known songs like “Walk away Renee” by the Left Banke were fantastic. I think the background music for the Carnaby street scene is by the Zephyrs.

Aftermath was a fine album by the Stones; "Paint It Black" and "Under My Thumb" being highpoint on that LP. Just as the top film critics will argue as to the best film ever made; 1941s "Citizen Kane" or 1972s "The Godfather", there will always be the same thing with the best contemporary pop/rock album, the BBs "Pet Sounds" or the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper" which was released a year later in 1967.

When I was a kid I had a weird irrational fear of good vibrations. I used to think it was evil no clue why lol
Now that I know about Manson and them it’s creepier lol
