This is actually pretty disappointing. Sandstorm revels in its understanding of how guns work, but this has an unusually high number of errors. Not to mention the questionable choice of factions. The P90 is still favored by a fair few Western special operations units for its unique advantages. Would the late Soviet-era Bizon not have been a better choice for Insurgents? They also missed a big opportunity to expand the ammo types with armor piercing to strategize against teams running heavy armor, giving the 5.7x28mm an option for its legendary body armor melting capability
For anyone interested in the history of the P90, I recommend watching the NATO PDW Trials video from 9-Hole Reviews. There are always a lot of people stating it was designed to counter the body armor of Russian paratroopers, but that is not the case. The AP cartridges of the P90 and MP7 were explicitly designed to penetrate soft body armor, and not hard ceramic plates. Russian paratroopers wore armor that could not be penetrated by the P90 or MP7. In fact, the US military's current standard M855A1 5.56x45mm ammo can't penetrate cold war era Russian body armor either, let alone modern armor. That is why the US military is running the NGSW program, and looking into adopting a new standard issue rifle in the larger 6.8x51mm cartridge.

There are photographs of real-world insurgents equipped with P90s. It's possible that they were salvaged from in-universe security troops before they stopped using it.
Well given the recent fiasco with Afghanistan it’s pretty plausible Rebels would get this kind of hardware. The game is also based elements of the Libyan Civil war where the rebels did get their hands in FN2000 rifles and P90s.
the 5.7x28 is designed to burn its powder really fast so the ideal barrel lenght is short(er) than similar sized calibers and add to that the already long bullpup barrel that barrel extension won't do anything noticable at all.
Happy to see the P90 properly modeled with it's unique optics. About the colour of the reticle, I thought they were red too, but there were models with the green colour. I don't remember where I find them but I did find out while searching. Yet I'm a bit angry with the update. I hate when there are some glitches still present, or new ones. We waited some time for this update since CTE, but I didn't mind to wait and was ready to wait more as long as there are no serious bugs. And f*** there are : the multiple VIP spawn, which was already there during the CTE, and now this magical headscarf above some players that are just a bad curse, mimicking a sort of wallhack directed to them.
5.7x28mm rounds are almost a dollar per shot where I live. Using this thing in checkpoint, I cant help but think of how much money is going down the drain. If you got robbed and resorted to shooting the guy with a five seven, you would have lost less money if you just gave him your wallet.

Considering that this was in production since 1990, it's been out for a whole 30 years. 30 years of private security, special forces, police forces all just trickling down into the arsenals of insurgents... Maybe in the Sandstorm universe there was an 'Afghanistan' event and the insurgents acquired some top of the line weaponry. I dont mind adding P90, I just wish they have given it (and vector) to the breacher. It's slowly becoming the gunner in terms of weapons (at least gunner can pack firepower)
i get what they were going for Advisor is supposed to have more unique and exotic weaponry, the idea being they are foreign agents paid to interfere within local conflicts, whereas the rest of the roles are supposed to represent more local forces. at the very least it means these didn't take up the breachers update meaning we'll either get new Breacher SMG's or shotguns this year.

like no game making RDS semi transparent makes small profile 1x sights not usable in FPS games. The stock sight works well in real life, not so much in any game

When I play insurgents I don't use high tech guns and I put on minimal attachments, I hate insurgents running around with high tech weaponry and airsoft gear. I usually model my insurgent outfits on the terrorists from csgo.
Even tho it's weaker than the MP7 (which is accurate), this thing with a suppressor and a recoil grip does slap. But vertical recoil should be reduced tbh.
It has superior flesh terminal ballistics, but didn't penetrate armor quite as well simply because of the design of the bullet tested. The 5.7 had a steel tip with copper jacketing, while the 4.6 was a steel bullet coated in copper. Regardless, none of them penetrared what they were supposed to penetrate, and the 5.7 t6b, or "black dragon fang" blows them both out of the water in terms of flesh damage and armor penetration

Well in all fairness, the round is already coming out of the optimal barrel length, so the extra barrel length would offer very little in the way of increased velocity, if any.
Just to put it out there for the other meta sweats like myself ace 52 is def still better in my opinion unless you are on gap tell or any other map where you are balls to the wall the entire match (this is from exclusively a push player so take with that what you will)

Because 5.7mm sucks. It only penetrates pistol rated stuff so it doesn't make sense to just use a carbine length rifle instead, and otherwise 9mm is better when used on targets not wearing armor.
Broth the vector has so little recoil that I think it's actually a detriment gameplay wise. Think of how siege players used to complain how when final surge was active their aim messed up, same thing here.

@@Awootistic at least in Insurgency the modifications you can do to your weapons wouldn't literally make them nonfunctional (i.e. removing the stock on an MG-42)

Because 5.7mm sucks. It only penetrates pistol rated stuff so it doesn't make sense to just use a carbine length rifle instead, and otherwise 9mm is better when used on targets not wearing armor.
The P90 is very wierd it feels like firing extremely fast but slow at the same time I don’t like it 😂

Broth the vector has so little recoil that I think it's actually a detriment gameplay wise. Think of how siege players used to complain how when final surge was active their aim messed up, same thing here.

Yes. You have to delete anticheat and then run the game and its gonna be reinstalled properly. I was to lazy to do that so I tried to launch the game from steamapps/common/sandstorm folder, try it too
