A very unique set of habs to be sure and it will be a must add for me. My first reaction is that these habs seem to fit a smaller ship build with smaller crew. Definitely going to give it a go tomorrow!
this is one of the better habs i have seen in a while... looks super lived in but looks like there is some work on how you are allowed to connect the habs... but love the interior of them
Hello, I just did an update on the mod to try to make the Habs more usable in other orientations. If anyone tries it out, the discord is in the mod description if you run into anything that needs fixing.
One thing I realized was there definitely an intended layout for these Habs. I haven’t figured it all out yet but was also going to do a detailed tour guide video and ship build using these Habs once I do. For example the captains quarters is definitely meant to be accessed via a door rather than ladders. The wooden floors don’t open up for a ladder. But overall, I love the intended direction/concepts of some of the Habs.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm in the process of cleaning up the Habs for individual use and the wood flooring is on the list. I also added a picture of the original ship to the mod description with door and ladder placement.
Some excellent interior design on display here, but the fact that they are intended only as replacement habs for the Silent Runner kinda limits their usefulness. Can't complain when it's free though. Coincidentally, I'm surprised no-one has made a 2x1 Fuselage hab mod yet.
Did you forget shipbuilding 101? The HopeTech style fuselages do not display connection points on top of them, so of course you cannot stack them like Companionways from other companies. Light teasing aside, the habs seem fit for a seasoned captain: there is clutter from many corners of the galaxy. That cargo bay also fixes the 'empty space' feeling of certain HopeTech/Taiyo habs.
So i saw this on a similar video a while back but I believe the habs are intended to be made in the same arrangement as the silent runner ship, simply swapping out the habs in the same format should be how they were intended to function.
The ship is called "Chunk" :) I've run into not being able to insert new ships before but I think the ship vendor framework would resolve that if the author used it and required that mod.
Aft, Fore, Starbord and Port are directions. Aft is the Stern of the ship where the propellers and rudders are, Fore is the Bow "the pointy" or front of the ship and Port is left where as Starboard is right.
HopeTech fitting both space trucker and space pirate archetypes probably contributes to that appeal. The emptier feeling of some of the habs makes it easier to mod as well. It's like the opposite of Nova Galactic, where most of the habs are well built and packed with interesting details.
Thy look great, but also look like that have the same problem as the Owltech habs on Nexus.... namely, unless you us Place Doors Yourself, these would require significant calculations to place just right where the doors actually show up where they are MEANT to go, as in where the author intended. That is a real headache, and you'd like win up with a VERY odd looking ship if you built it so the habs all only connected where intended and not anywhere else. A lot of lateral hallways, a lot of wasted space with gaps (which I know one can always just toss cargo bins or things like Grav Drives or Reactors in, but still).... .....these authors have a vision, I know, but if they could not block off any doorways... or make it impossible to connect the habs to another one at any point EXCEPT the place they WANT you to have a door.... it would save either having a nightmare in build mode, or having to have another mod just to place doors... which after a while becomes tedious AF... creating another kind of build mode nightmare..well then yeah, addressing that would be great. Because as is, these custom habs are all too often out of the box UNUSABLE... and being pretty does not trump being easy to build with for my money.

Love this mod! The cargo hab has all the workbenches, you’ve just placed a door that removed a whole corner section.

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to see if Place Doors Yourself will make a difference.

Reference for C.F.; you head aft to go to the stern of a ship, you go forward to get to the bow. 😁
And during General Quarters, you move in a Circle, going Foreward on the Port side and Aft on the Starboard side. 🤣
@@briancowan4318 Thus giving rise to the term, 'Circular Clusterf**k, if I recall correctly... 🤪

Always interesting to see new parts. Thanks for the review.

Hi CrankyCat!
@@ShadowWeaver_82 Yo!👋
Coffee time. Well that’s neat. Great review as usual, thanks for posting.
I have no idea why I barely notice you add (XBOX/PC) to your video titles, its quite helpful.
that 2x2 mess hall / rec room / internet cafe alone is almost paid mod quality. Just iron out the doors and linkages.

I think this could be a great hab mod if the author releases an update that properly blocks out some of the buggy connections.
Aft is a direction, the stern is where you arrive when you head that direction
Curious if there is a reason so many hab modders use the HopeTech habs? I don't think i've seen more than one mod with Deimos and one with Nova.
I'm guessing it's just personal preference

I don't like the round walls on Hopetech, so, of course, all the modders use them. I prefer Nova Galactic. Don't see any mods using those. 😢
