Edouard Kawak has always been among my top favorite picks for legendary bodybuilder. It's really sad how he was overlooked by the judges.

Sweet Video NS&P. Glad to see some Bodybuilding history. I agreed that Ed Kawak was more impressive than Chris Dickerson. Great conditioning!

Kawak did, of course, come over to the IFBB in 1986. In 1987 he made it into the Olympia top 10. Back in the 1980s I religiously bought all the BB magazine’s Kawak was awesome on the NABBA stage, but was then blown away by the likes of Haney and Christian. Interestingly he was from the Lebanon like Bannout. Finally, even if he had competed in Mr Olympian from 1980 to 1983 would the politics within the IFBB have “allowed” him to win. If Mike Mentzer could not beat Arnold and Platz could not beat Franco I am doubtful Kawak would have picked up the Sandow Statue. What do you think Nick?

1982 was kind of a gift to Dickerson because he got 2nd in 80 and 81... even though he didn't deserve second either of those years.

I was lucky enough to see Lee Haney in a seminar in the UK at the end of 1985, not long after he’d won his second Olympia. Ed Kawak was in the audience that evening, and appeared to be just about as wide as he was tall.

Agree about Eduardo Kawak! If he and Sergio Oliva were in it along with Mike Mentzer between 1981-1983 it would have made a far better Olympia contest!

Those color photos of Ed Kawak were taken at O'Malley's gym, Warrington, UK. The owner - Walter O'Malley - is still training today and can't be far off 80 years old. He is still in great shape. In his time he won Mr World, Mr Universe (height class) and was voted "World's most muscular Man". I remember he still competed in his seventies. Absolute legend.

Two factors worth mentioning are condition and aesthetics. Kawak was never really ripped and although his physique was huge (for the day) and proportionate, it never really flowed. Dickerson, on the other hand, did get ripped and was considered to be highly aesthetic too.
