Edouard Kawak has always been among my top favorite picks for legendary bodybuilder. It's really sad how he was overlooked by the judges.
Sweet Video NS&P. Glad to see some Bodybuilding history. I agreed that Ed Kawak was more impressive than Chris Dickerson. Great conditioning!
Yeah, I like Ed more.
Thanks bro
@@NicksStrengthandPower Appreciate your work! Thanks for this Classic dual.
Kawak did, of course, come over to the IFBB in 1986. In 1987 he made it into the Olympia top 10. Back in the 1980s I religiously bought all the BB magazine’s Kawak was awesome on the NABBA stage, but was then blown away by the likes of Haney and Christian. Interestingly he was from the Lebanon like Bannout. Finally, even if he had competed in Mr Olympian from 1980 to 1983 would the politics within the IFBB have “allowed” him to win. If Mike Mentzer could not beat Arnold and Platz could not beat Franco I am doubtful Kawak would have picked up the Sandow Statue. What do you think Nick?
Phil Heaths lawyer Would like to have a conversation with you regarding this video ...
Fuck him
Ouch
Nick's Strength and Power that’s a big OOF 😂
@@NicksStrengthandPower u mad or something
Oh Nick.....soooo funny!!! Fuck him!! Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha!! Laughing so hard. Way to go Nick!! Love, love, love it!!! Tell him, baby!!! Oh my God...to good. Couldn't say it better Nick!!
1982 was kind of a gift to Dickerson because he got 2nd in 80 and 81... even though he didn't deserve second either of those years.
Jack ... Well he actually got robbed off in 1980 & 1981. He really deserved the hattrick.
has anyone seen my blue t-shirt?
waller had it
Yeah, I saw Ken Waller with it earlier.
Haha that's good
Phil Thief stole it. Sue him!
LOL!!!
Could Phil Heath have been a Mr. Universe?
No
@@NicksStrengthandPower so what's up with the lawsuit?
o.O
Not with that midsection.
Mr Solar system gut
Ed Kawak is one of my favorite bodybuilders
Nick's Universe and Olympias
I was lucky enough to see Lee Haney in a seminar in the UK at the end of 1985, not long after he’d won his second Olympia. Ed Kawak was in the audience that evening, and appeared to be just about as wide as he was tall.
Agree about Eduardo Kawak! If he and Sergio Oliva were in it along with Mike Mentzer between 1981-1983 it would have made a far better Olympia contest!
Funny thing that to me his body is a bit similar to Mike's with better separation and conditioning.
Love these Vintage Videos Ed Kawak definitely over Chris! The Original Lion of Lebanon via France!
I never realized how great a back Samir had. Wow!
Wow Ed Kawak was born in 1959 and he won his first Mr. Universe in 1982 he was only 23 years old. That is really impressive.
Nick idk if you have realized this, but in the past year or 2 you have become one of the most prominent faces in bodybuilding. No exaggeration.
There’s no other platform that is more reliable than your RUclips channel for both bodybuilding news and history. I’m serious dude, ur rocking it! You’ve brought something special to the industry and we appreciate it!
I’m a simple man. Nick Uploads , I Watch.
my man
I'm a simple man. I see a bracelet, I steal.
Yup! I’m completely addicted and strung out!
Who is not my friend
wow. thank you for the introduction. Two Lebanese Champions from same era! Samir and Eduard! after some digging: .... in 87 kawak placed 8th at the Mr. O, while Samir did not participate. in 88 Mr O. Samir placed 8th while Kawak dropped to 16th.
Kawak period. Great physique, incredible lines and definition.
I’m a simple man, I see a nicks strength and power video, I watch
same
Check out Jeff King in 1983 also - definitely could hold his own against Olympia guys, even an early Lee Haney.

0:09 probably the classiest Bodybuilding Picture ever.
Nick love the classic videos. You’ve truly put me on to a bodybuilding era I look up too and strive for ! Keep them coming

Pumping out great content nick. You read my mind and post content that I didn’t even know I was looking to watch lol. Great job man 👍🏻
Nick, props for you doing this video. I always thought IFBB stacked the deck against him when he competed for Mr. Olympia.
Wow! Thank you for highlighting Ed Kawak. What an incredible physique.
Great video Nick! Thanks so much :)
On that black and white video close to the end his physique looks very impressive, awsome lines and condition. GREAT VIDEO, THANKS NICK!
Our Team loves Ed Kawak very much. Many Videos of him to come. Truly a great athlete and highly highly overlooked.
Could Seto Kaiba have been a bodybuilder?
Really like the body building history videos! Can you do one about past controversial Olympia wins?
Love your educational videos and calm voice 💖✌️
Greetings from germany. Love the channel keep it going😍
Can you do a video abot samir bnout
Kawaks tear drop legs was just something else
Ed Kawak looked easily more impressive than Chris Dickerson!
Great content as always.
NABBA guys in the 80s like kawak, tom brown, jeff king etc. were nothing less in physical developmen than ifbb stars.
Jesus Christ great vid Nick. Consistent bangers everyday
great vid as always nick
Really interesting thanks Nick!
Nick's Bodybuilding and History Lessons
Great Video. I saw Eduardo Kawak in the late 80's at the IFBB Night of Champions (now The NY PRO).
once in early 80's l visited kawak's gym in cannes he was very friendly
More like this, please.
I’d love to see “The Complete History of the NABBA Mr. Universe” as a video
Love the vintage videos
Thanks for doing these videos. Never knew about Ed, he was a monster.
damn!! Ed Kawak !!! i thought everybody forgot about him...thanks nick!
Never heard of Ed Kawak but he was very impressive.
I saw Ed Kawak in 1994 , in Timisoara , Romania . He guest posed in a competition created by a friend of mine , to honor the memory of a bodybuilder who died in the 1989 revolution . Ed wasn't in contest shape , but he was very impressive .
Those color photos of Ed Kawak were taken at O'Malley's gym, Warrington, UK. The owner - Walter O'Malley - is still training today and can't be far off 80 years old. He is still in great shape. In his time he won Mr World, Mr Universe (height class) and was voted "World's most muscular Man". I remember he still competed in his seventies. Absolute legend.
Yes! Here for the history!
The Mr. Universe's motions are very artful in his posing and it makes him look like it's actually a machine on stage.
Excellent point
Nicks strength and bodybuilding history I like
Much underrated. The gym shots are from O'Malley gym in Warrington, England.
He had very impressive tear drops on his quads
Well spotted Nick. Great vid.
Nick's Olympia and Universe
Nick's universe and olymipia.
Ed Kawak had an outstanding phisyque. I've never heard of him before and now I'm fuckin impressed.
Phenomenal- I have to agree.
Good investigation
I find myself watching these bodybuilding video at 1 or 2 in the morning
You should some more videos of this same style of mr universe vs mr Olympia. It’d be interesting especially back in the 70’s and 80’s how they stacked up against one another.
Two factors worth mentioning are condition and aesthetics. Kawak was never really ripped and although his physique was huge (for the day) and proportionate, it never really flowed. Dickerson, on the other hand, did get ripped and was considered to be highly aesthetic too.
His teardrop is crazy
He did look good
I would even make an argument of him beating 76' Franco Columbo
Samir in 83 was glorious one of my favorite physiques ever 💪🏽
LOVE the coverage of the NON-BUBBLEGUT...Thanks Nick
Nick's olympias and universes
Ed's crucifix pose - marvelous.
Peaks on Dickerson's elbows are out of this world !
Nick's universe and olympia
His bicep Peaks are Insane!!! He would have crashed Chris Dickerson!
The Lion of Lebanon vs Ed Kawak! This would have been an awesome contest!
Those teardrops though
Nice Video
Excellent Video Nick. KAWAK hands down. Or up!
I like how we have all these researched supplements and modernized workout routines and yet no one nowadays look nearly as good golden era bodybuilders
Less gear and more brutal workouts.
Great seeing obscure BB'ers being mentioned! FYI - Dickerson's elbow were a side effect of HGH.
I’ve seen a number of pictures of Ed Kawak in old-school bodybuilding books. He was known for having good symmetry and being in good condition. He definitely had a great physique for that era!
About time
Chris dickerson is a time traveler, he traveled to our time and we now know him as david henry
Great video Nick it was Ed Kawak hands down! He'd a good run in the 80s and could've stood toe to toe with anybody!
Nicks Strength and Comparisons
To be honest, Nick is great representative of bodybuilding media, and a very good critic. I wish you an IFBB position in the future
Hey Nick have you ever done a video on Serge Nubret? My old man always hails him as one of the best physiques of all time, great work though man keep it up!
Nick’s universe and olympia
Definitely Kawak my husband was at the 82 Olympia in London and was so disappointed when Dickerson won Viator was the worthy winner with Samir second
Thank god your going back to what your good at.
When he eventually competed In the IFBB he got lots of 7th and 8th placings. He then went back to NABBA and WABBA and had lots of top three placings.
Don't forget Bob Gajda when he beat Sergio in the 1960s. Incredibly interesting backstory. You could probably snare an interview with Bob Gajda from Chicago.
those quads and legs wow
Totally agreed Ed Kawak is the man!! Not only the clear winner that year but a really amazing physique in the history of bodybuilding
Hey I ha r a question since you have competed in powerlifting, rn I am going to compete in my first competition in a month what’s the best way to lose fat without losing strength I’m not talking getting down to 10% just getting down a little to make weight. Btw absolutely live your channel keep making vids!
