It was a nice car and it made good money. It too nearly a year to polish it up to perfection. And is was a gas-guzzler. 40l for 100Km, the fastest think on that car was the petrol gauge.

@@MarxWegener that is heavy on fuel. I imagine though that this was mainly city stop and go driving. My 2012 Ford Escape with a v6, 3 litre and all wheel drive gets anywhere from 11L/100 km’s to 13L/100 km’s. I did have a 2005 Ford 500 with a 3 litre had a best rating of 8L/100 but was usually around 11L.

My best friend owned the same year and make Roller as yours. Came from a very wealthy collector who had full-time mechanics staff. I mean huge a collector, he owned Meral Norman Cosmetics. My friend felt confident the car with 30,000 miles was well taken care of however it just kept breaking down. Yes, it was fun but always needed work. Normal maintenance such as brakes took 3 months to receive parts from England. It would become undrivable while at the mechanics waiting for parts. He finally signed it over to the garage and walked away from it.

You can buy those RR for little money. But you need to spend a lot of money getting them into shape. Have at least $25k ready to spend on the gearbox, diff and steering rack. The the rust removal is another big expense. But the most costly item are the electrics. You are better off rewiring the car completely then repairing the wiring. The wiring is shockingly bad. We had to redo the aircon as well. That alone was around $7000.

The electrics are badly done. Short circuits constantly. The aircon was the first part we dumped. The steering box and the gear box failed. The the diff fell apart. And after the petrol pump failed when I just finished a wedding I decided to retire the car. It was too unreliable for business purposes. And no repair was under $1000. The only thing that never gave any trouble at all was the motor. The car looked good but was badly made.
