I grew up in that area and we went there each year for a school trip. The redoubts were not there when I was younger. Interesting to learn something new about the place. The souvenir place was in a 2 room log cabin back then, not that nice new building they have now.

They were in Morristown for the coldest winter.
Valley Forge gets all the press and notoriety, but Morristown was actually worse

Very nice! We are coming out from LA to Philadelphia and would like to take a bus there. Would you recommend renting bikes to get around . It seems like you drove and hiking 6 to 8 miles is too far and probably too hot in the summer.

Thank you! That’s cool that you’re coming out! If you have a car definitely just drive around that’s the easiest. If you don’t have a car you’ll need to rent bikes if you want to see the most. Park is way to large to hike the whole thing in the summer. Good luck! 😎🤘

I love history myself and George Washington was in my old hometown of Cecil pa. I saw a trail of his Butler pa as well. Very cool.
