Another theory on why the sanguine nobles have omen horns was established by Crunchy on his video on the crucible. He said that when the player joins Mogh's faction White Mask injects some of Mogh's blood into the player, thus infecting us with his omen blood. Crunchy theorizes that all members of the Mogwyn dynasty go through this proces and in time start manifesting omen aspects like the horns and thus becoming part omen. This is also shown by the fact that the Albinaurics that one finds in Mogh's territory have blood red skinn and have small omen horns in their heads.

It's an interesting theory but as far as we know omen can't be made, only born. For instance the seedbed curse doesn't make anyone an omen it makes them become reborn as omen. The albanaurics may be a special case given that they're made using silver tears which are malleable and would take on the form of something infused into them

@@square-table-gaming I would say the key in point here is the idea that they arent really Omen. They possibly just take on the qualities of Mohg through transfusion? Or perhaps because of the formless mothers power within mohg its possible? Either way its interesting.. kinda makes for a neat bleed/dung eater story character who wants more Omen or something

@Square Table Gaming thats because the sanguine nobles arent Omen. they dont have Omen abilities and have a completely different build. I agree that its because of Omen blood infusion, as mentioned above the albonaurics that serve mohg also have horns while we know they cant be born omen as they are artificial beings. this proves that horns dont exclusively grow on omens

Is it true that only the demigod offspring are not subject to horn removal? I thought that it was all ‘nobles’, in which case the sanguines could be omen noble offspring without the necessity of relating them directly to Mogh, perhaps the elite of a latent resistencia movement to anti omen practices. Does there exist a concrete definition of noble in this world? At some points it seems a majority of the population has this status.

Quick correction; Mohg and Morgott aren't the only Omens with their horns intact, the ones below Leyndell in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds have their horns. Not all Omens at birth have their horns excised, those that don't are thrown beneath Leyndell, are treated as dead, and fetishes are crafted to honor their "deaths", as we know from the item description of the Regal Omen Bairn. The video about the Omen created by Smoughtown has a lot of good information about them.

    Here's another idea.
Note that the red-skinned Albinaurics in the lakes of blood and Mohgwyn Palace also have small omen horns. However, they obviously aren't omens themselves.
We learn through various items that the Bloodflame comes directly from the Formless Mother's enhancing of the "cursed blood" that Mohg inherently carries as an omen. If, like what Varre does to us to initiate us into the Dynasty by injecting our fingers with blood, some first generation Albinaurics or maybe even other humans partook in a greater quantity of that cursed blood (we know humans can be changed by powerful enough magic because the Magma Wyrm's are changed by consuming the hearts and presumably blood of lesser dragons), they would share Omen blood. This wouldn't make them born omens, but omens via Mohg's cursed blood, like a transfusion of the curse.
Still no idea why they don't have a head though

Another theory proposed by me rn is that when Mohg left the shunning grounds beneath Leyndell he took royal Omen with him. That's why they have horns. As for why they're different from the ones still chilling in the shunning grounds, I believe it comes down to exposure to a choice. Some royal omen followed Mohg, became inducted into the cult, embraced the curse and helped Mohg carry out the plans of the formless mother. Some remained, possibly out of duty to Morgott. Protecting Leyndell in their own way, preventing anyone from reaching the yellow flame or the destroyed Eternal city.

I don't see why Omen can't have more than one body type. At first I thought sanguine nobles were men in the guise of a different creature, but it ultimately makes more sense that Mohg would have followers who had left the shunning grounds alongside him. They're only "nobles" because they rank highly in his new blood dynasty, regardless of actual birthright.

I believe the nobles were either Tarnished or normal Erdtree born people that wished too follow Mohg.

I believe the nobles are probably 1st gen albinauric or even a new 3rd gen species of albinauric and here's a list of reasons for the theory
1)the physical characteristics of the nobles is more similar to 1st gen albinauric due to most of the nobles being covered they leave very little skin to see but if u look at the feet they walk on the front of the foot and that part is fat more similar to omen but the balls of there feet and up the leg are really thin which is more common with the Albinauric than omen which have a large brute body
    2) some of the 1st gen albinauric look like human and probably have human genetic makeup but what if instead of human they had an omen makeup then they would naturally start to imitate omen more
3)mogh and dung eater were both prisoners in the subterranean and dung eater wanted to curse everyone to be reborn omen while mogh had pride in his omen blood so at some point mogh may have learned something from dung eater on rebirth and metamorphosis to use on albinauric which we see metamorphosis happening to the red 2nd gen at mogh palace with them growing horns and the rebirth he plans for miquella may be his own variation or the formless mothers variation of the seedbed curse(this one's a little far fetched but they have similar research and mogh would probably be going right by dung eater if they were there at the same time)

I like the idea that the sanguine Nobles are people that become Omens through blood transfusion from Mohg better, I think bloody finger nejarus is courts evidence Numero Uno to support the theory, and he hasn't had a chance to grow his horns yet because we snatch his soul, maybe him not having horns yet is the reason he only has the reduvia and not the blood helice and reduvia. Maybe the bloody helice is given when those horns come in sort of a comming of age gift so to speak.

I saw some comments on what I wanted to say about how there is more omen with horns in the capitol and I thought that because they were already of noble birth, maybe that is why they see themselves as having the right to be a noble for mohg.

This theory of mine may have no merit, whatsoever, but, here goes: Maybe another point to becoming Sanguine Nobles, we now know that there were MORE demigods born than we first thought! Possibly, especially after The Shattering, they turned their backs or outright betrayed their god/demigod parent (s), and joined Mohg instead! Sounds nuts, but it's a thought!

The sanguine nobles are not omens. Not only do they lack the monstrous aspect of an omen, but Omen horns grow on those that bathe for too long in the accursed blood of the Moghwyn dinasty. That’s why you can find horns on the red albinaurics. So yeah they’re just humans. They only have this many horns because they’re the elite warriors of Mohg and they’ve been at his service the longest.

  • @elalto3492
    @elalto3492 Год назад +2

First of all, the omens born of royalty do not have their horns excised, that is not limited to Mogh and Morgott since we see more omens with horns in the sewers of Leyndell, and second, I don't believe the sanguine nobles are omens, since they are much slimmer and smaller than other omens we see in game, I believe they were mere humans who went on to serve Mogh and the influence of his accursed blood made them grow omen horns, just like the bloody albinauriacs you can see in the Moghwin palace, besides the red skin they also have small horns on their heads. Another thing I want to point is that the fighting style of the sanguine nobles actually reminds me a bit of Morgott fighting style, although I don't believe Morgott has anything to do personally with his brother's cult, maybe he was some sort of inspiration for Mogh or something like that

On a symbolic level the Sanguine Nobles could be like family... Cue Rykard noises...
Literally sharing blood, having a small infusion of Mohg's omen blood and comstant exposure to the blood flame. In a way you become part of Mohg's family.
But being serious, if the Sanguine Nobles are literally children of Mohg, who is his mate? Are we suppose to infer that Miquilla is being impregnated and pushing out omen children while still in a non-responsive comatose state? Does The Formless Mother have some role to play in creating new life and handing the dead? Or does The Formless Mother endorse creating new life the old fashioned way by...doing the deed?
This isn't impossible...but it is very unlikely in my opinion.

I've heard this theory before but have trouble buying it mostly because no bloody fingers seem to show this conversion happening, nor do the creatures found near the palace or the shambling zombies full of Mohgs blood. The only creatures that do are the albinaurics who would be mailable given that they're made from silver tears.

    • @darklordauron
      @darklordauron Год назад

@@square-table-gaming The bloody fingers might not be exposed for long enough. How many hundreds or thousands of years might the sanguine nobles been marinating in Mohg-juice? The bloody fingers also can't outright teleport through blood portals like Mohg and the Sanguine nobles can. Perhaps the nobles have had direct rites with blood mom through Mohg as a final step in their position.
The creatures and zombies are not taking part in a voluntary communion with Mohg or blood mom. The Albinaurics are both silver tear malleable and taking part in that fealty/communion with Mohg or blood mom, so they would show horns much sooner.
The age that we see in the game is a post-natural birth period, so I would surmise all pre-existing omen would have Omen gigantism develop before Mohg ever met blood mom. There are no children in the lands between now. They are "born" adult from the tree and no omen are being born through that removal of natural reproduction. Also the Sanguine nobles' body shape trends towards the lanky, bony forms of the desiccated nobles we see throughout the game.
But I will admit that we don't know what the product of an Omen/Human pairing is. For all we know, someone Daedicar'd with Mohg and made gracile mini-omens - portents if you will.

Never really got a close look at one of the novels before but I have noticed that some albenarics, the red ones also have horn growing out of them. I was always under the impression that maybe long term exposure to the curse blood could cause mutations similar to the Omen. Someone made that argument on Reddit and it made sense but I do like your idea but with whom we’re these children sired?

Tough to say, but it wouldn't matter who really. Perhaps with other omen from the shunning grounds. I've also read about the exposure theory but I believe that only makes sense for the albinaurics as they are made from silver tears and that would make them much more malleable. If it were possible for a tarnished to become an omen, the dung eater would be a blooding finger.

The one thing that kind of bugs me about this theory is Mohg's clear obsession with Miquella. As it stands, Miquella is confirmed to be the younger male sibling of Malenia and half brother of Mohg, which would make Mohg one of the only openly homosexual characters in Elden Ring. That is not to say he is not bisexual, but there isn't any evidence that I can recall suggests that he is also partial to females.
Not only that, given his explicit obsession, and the compelling powers of Miquella, I don't see Mohg siring children with a female even by necessity. Unless there is something to Miquella's alter ego St. Trina in which Miquella undergoes a full physical transformation like Marika does in Radagon's case. It would explain why St. Trina looks different than Miquella even though they're purported to be the same entity.
After reading a couple of comments on this video. I think it's more convincing to speculate that the Sanguine Nobles aren't true Omens, but offshoots of a kind that demonstrate qualities of the Crucible. And it's not such an unusual idea. Mutations of this kind aren't necessarily out of left field. Godwyn's face appearing in local fauna such as crabs is apparently a new development that emerged shortly after Godwyn's body was entombed below Leyndell.

@@sueflewelling3657 Ranni has been explored thoroughly so I'm not sure how much we can add to the discourse. If we did make a video on Ranni, I think it'd be after some DLC that fleshed her out more. I'm just not sure we can say anything that hasn't already been said.

@@sueflewelling3657 Personally I think that unlike Dark Souls, where you can argue canonical endings due to its sequels, Elden Ring will not have a canonical ending. There won't be an Elden Ring 2, so the ending is whichever aligns best with your values. For Ranni it's a good question. I think she does come to truly care about the Tarnished if we follow her questline. The Dark Moon Greatsword is essentially a wedding Ring. She wouldn't have to marry them to complete her plans, that's a choice Ranni is making because she WANTS the tarnished as her consort.
