    Oh this is enough to move it significantly for me!! I was very annoyed when I found that you couldn't take any train on any line like in Train Simulator, so I'm very happy that Train Sim World is now allowing you to do it.

    I rarely preorder a game but the Bakerloo Line made TSW2 an instant buy for me. I'm enjoying everything so far. My only gripe is there are no station announcements which would add a more in depth submersion to the experience imo. Thanks for the vid.

      Agreed! I'd love a bit more ambient sounds on the tube stations, particularly more announcements. I did hear a few here and there when I was playing, but normally on the Underground it's near constant. A 'Mind the gap, please' would be particularly good!

    Just before people go thinking this is a game for total dweebs.
    I'm a competitive gamer, actual decades of shooter and racing experience in very competition environments, I've done a ton of it. This game is so peaceful and engaging at the same time that I think it's perfect for people trying to de-stress after an intense match or a crap day at work. It's a meditative kind of game in my opinion, much the way flight sims are.
    If you're gamer similar to me and want something peaceful but don't want to play a grindy farming game, this is a nice relax alternative. It's surprisingly engaging and you get exactly what's on the box. Some trains, some routes, no grinding. A level system exist but it doesn't do anything as far as I can tell.
    Cool game for a relaxed experience, I do recommend.

      I mean, in fairness, £25 for three new routes (well, 2 I guess given Sand Patch Grade has been there for a long time) and some updates including new features, isn't too bad? If they were selling at like, full price (£44.99 or whatever) I'd say that was really overpriced! But of course, everyone's value proposition is different, so I can't blame folks if they feel £25 for this is too much?

      @@HeyItsAJOmega It's a forced buy though in effect or by default if you wish. If they had the intention to provide further upgrades for 2020 (which isn't that old certainly not considering the investment people have made) well fair enough, but no it was cut dead in it's tracks so to say. So yes x2 routes thrown in for what is essentially an upgrade path that is inaccessible for the game it's upgrading. As for DTG having a deep love for trains, you bet they do, they know it's been a pretty 1 horse race. However there does seem to be a new crop of train games releasing that in many way give more playability - Derail Valley is one example, Diesel railcar simulator another. Both offer different things and dont reach the exact modelling standard as TSW but in there own ways have better features. If DTG were genuine they perhaps should of done a upgrade offer at half the price (prepare for responses along the theme of the poor developers starving children, visions of families huddled round a candle for warmth all because those nasty gamers won't pay 24. 99 for a rehash job. ) It is a relaxing game strangely, but buyer beware would be best review score - pays yer money takes yer choice.

    the frame rate issues are something that unfortunately is a limitation of the game engine. UE4 looks amazing and creates stunning visuals, but the engine was never designed to support the massive task of rendering while hurtling along the track at speed. UE is great for open world projects with mostly foot movement and the occasional car. UE is also known for being particularly resource hungry. personally i don’t have any frame rate issues when playing on max setting but to be fair i do have a pretty powerful pc. i still think unreal is definitely the best engine for the game but it does have its limitations. for example, the issues with motion blur interaction with the wheels, that is because UE4 does not support radial (rotational) motion blur, only linear. there is a way to make fake motion blur for wheels with UE but it’s not very good and is especially difficult because of the fact these wheels aren’t freestanding and have interactions with other objects. i use UE and am quite proficient as part of my work so i did have a go at seeing if i could solve the issues for DTG and send them in for their team to consider but i could not find a way to use fake radial motion blur in a way that wasn’t creating massive performance issues, because unlike a car, there’s way more than four wheels. i also tried to solve the issues with rendering at high speed but i could not make it any better than it currently is. it’s a shame that the engine has these issues but it’s a trade off. unity would look significantly worse and probably have worse performance to boot. i really hope DTG considers upgrading the engine to UE5 when it’s available because from what i’ve seen it may be able to solve a lot of their issues.

    • @HeyItsAJOmega
      @HeyItsAJOmega  3 года назад +1

      That's really interesting, thank you for that information. I'm certain my FPS drops were probably made more of an issue by the fact I was using OBS to record gameplay as well as play - I think without that also using resources it might be a bit less of an issue. Wasn't TSW1 built in Unity, or was that UE4 too?

      "the frame rate issues are something that unfortunately is a limitation of the game engine. UE4 looks amazing and creates stunning visuals, but the engine was never designed to support the massive task of rendering while hurtling along the track at speed. "
      False, there are many racing games and simulators that deal with "speed and rendering" that manage to do this successfully in Unreal.
      " UE is also known for being particularly resource hungry. personally i don’t have any frame rate issues when playing on max setting but to be fair i do have a pretty powerful pc."
      The developers don't know how to make use of the engine and have poor resource management. Interesting how many other develops can create massive open worlds far larger than any of the maps on Train Sim World, and not struggle with frame rate issues. Again, the developers don't know what they're doing.
      Don't take the faults of the developers and push them off onto Unreal, thanks.

    Do you think this game will add stuff like a horns that echos in the distance and sound more pronounced the closer the train gets. That would be a nice addition to a game that shoots for realism. I mean other train sims do it why not this one. Also the addition of steam trains would be a game changer as I would definitely purchase this game if that was the case. I don’t care if it’s an American steamer, European, Australian, Russian, don’t care where, I just care when, as I’m sure that it will not only look very impressive but sound it as well. I personally think that there should be a separate game or dlc or something for steam train lovers like myself since Train Sim World has been very neglectful in that category, but with very good reasoning that I do understand. But that is just me. This was a wonderful analysis video you presented us with nonetheless, great job. 👍🚂

      @wardog8u2xbox360 For the first comment, yes I have Railway Empire and I absolutely love that game. My only major gripe with it is why are the car lengths so short? Every other train sim I've seen has way more than just 8 cars on the consist. Why just 8? You look at those articulated locomotives and you think to yourself, ”a 2-6-6-4 or a 2-8-8-4 pulling only a measly 8 cars.” Yeah, right. I don't think so. I wish they would increase the length of the amount of cars you could add to your train than just 8, but I get it. They would have to make some major tweaks to the stations where they pick up the cars. I get it. I can even forgive them for the fact that a Northern Europe locomotive from the DLC sounds no different than an Australian DLC locomotive that sounds no different than, the American locomotives. Just increase the car length on the trains from a measly eight cars. That's what I've been wanting forever since I have got the game but I'll never get, and I don't know why it would be so difficult to make it so. But other than that game is fantastic, I love all the different whistles and chugging sounds, when you have so many trains a busy station, or at a refueling station.
      Also, second comment, you are the third person to reference the super suit, which I find funny; you want to know where it is you'll have to talk to Honey for that, she's always putting me on this scavenger hunt but before I'm able to actually save the city.
      By the way, I even had an idea that could even solve the train length issue, if you are interested in hearing it.

    @Shipwright1918 3 года назад

    Personally on the fence about it, as I've already bought the first game and I'm not keen on buying what is essentially a patch for full price plus DLC. It ought to be a free upgrade, or at least substanstially discounted, say five or ten quid, for existing TSW owners in perpetuity, we're not cash cows here..
    That aside, TSW2 is essentially more of the same, modern commuter trains, high speed lines, and a little modern freight. Point A to Point B with not much to do in between. Not going to take the plunge until they get some really good steamers in there, and have more to do on the side, dropping off and picking up cars, loading and unloading different cargoes, etc.
    Not to the same level of polish, but I really like Derail Valley as it has exactly all of the above, you get a list of industries to serve, a list of what wagons they want moved, shunted, filled, and unloaded, and a set of engines to do it all with. The game basically throws you in the deep end and says "Get to work, laddie. How you do it and how long it takes, I don't care. You break it, you fix it and/or you bought it. There's the locos, there's the wagons, go figure it out, we'll pay you when you get it right."

    I can't think of any good things they have done for the train simulator genre excpet for the graphics in TSW. It looks good, and sometimes it looks as real life.

      @@e575fho You are correct. Do you know how long people who bought Train Sim World waited for content creation, for the developers to literally put it in another game with a price tag?
      Anyone who invests in Train Sim World 2, which is an expensive update patch, is a complete fool. It's amazing how people go great lengths to defend such a scummy developer.
      And for those of you reading this, good luck on those multiplayer promises. That's why most people bought Train Sim World, which is now promised in a new game that you have to drop money on, and is once again "coming soon". 😆
      Enjoy your long list of unfixed bugs, more boring worlds to drive through, a choppy experience, and a whole lot of empty promises that will supposed to be coming to Train Sim World 2, only to pitch it in Train Sim World 3 once they're developed with an excuse of "why they had to do this as a result of limitations".

      @@francocortez3506 I find your reply extremely condesending towards the people who have bought the game, including me. You have blatantly said that anyone who has bought the game is a complete idiot. You literally are given 3 DLCs for the price of 1 which in the eyes of Dovetail is a complete bargain and if you say otherwise then you would have to be a "fool."
      Granted, Dovetail have been an extremely shady company in my eyes. However, at least now they are being a lot more transparent about what they are doing with the new introduction of the frequently updated roadmap.
      Your comment about multiplayer is "why most people bought Train Sim World" is absoutely false. People mainly bought Train Sim World 1 to drive trains in an updated engine and with better graphics then the extremely outdated TS Classic. I didn't buy TSW for multiplayer at all and if it was added it would just be a little bonus for me. Why on Earth would anyone buy a game for a feature that hadn't been implemented yet.
      The unfixed bugs are the only part that I agree with because to be honest, they should be fixing bugs before moving on to the next thing but looking at the roadmap it appears they are going back to some routes to fix bugs and glitches with the routes. The worlds are much more exciting to drive through then TS Classic due to the upgraded graphics improving realism along with the ability to interact with many elements within the cab of a train. The experience is far from "choppy". It is way less choppy then TS Classic is in any sense and if you are finding it choppy then my friend... It's time to invest in a new computer.
      I am not trying to defend Dovetail because the mistakes they have made in the past are absolutely horrendous. They have made false promises in the past and I hope that TSW 2 is a new light for Dovetail. But I just can't gloss over how many mistakes are in this reply to the point where you are almost defaming Dovetail for making a game that is unplayable when the game is far from it. I played 162 hours in TSW and never found a single gamebreaking bug in the game.
      Everyone is entitled to your opinion but calling everyone that has the opinion to support Dovetail a "fool" for doing so is not appropriate in any situation.

      I made the mistake of buying both TSW 2020 and TSW 2 at the same time because I didn't realise TSW 2 had the same routes as TSW 2020 available to download for free until it was too late. Luckily I only paid £10 for TSW 2020 and £11 for TSW 2 because they were on offer on my PS4. Saved me forking out at least £50 for them both but could have spent the tenner I wasted on TSW 2020 on an extra route or something!
