  • At the end of my most recent cruise, I booked the Everglades excursion. It was about a 45 minute drive from the Miami cruise port to the Everglades Holiday Park.
The excursion cost $61.99 (at the time of filming), and included a 60 minute airboat tour, an alligator presentation by "The Gator Boys" (formerly on Animal Planet), a photo with a baby alligator, and airport drop-off at Fort Lauderdale airport or Miami airport.
Several of the Miami and Fort Lauderdale cruises make this shore excursion available, including Carnival Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises.
There is a gift shop with some snacks, cold drinks (including beer and wine), and souvenirs like t-shirts and stuffed animals. Next door, there's a snack bar that makes a great Cuban sandwich -- among other things. Pro tip: watch out because if you have food, there are local hang-around birds that will really, really want some of it too.
This video only covers the airboat portion since the The Gator Boys' presentation is so good and so funny, I didn't want to spoil it for you.
Remember, if you book this excursion -- the hardest part is finding the bus during the disembarkation chaos. Just ask the friendly port employees where you can find the excursion bus -- they are pros at the Miami port and they do this several times a week.

Thank you for the video, and the explanation that there is a bus from the port to the excursion.
Pretty much convinced me to book if for my cruise.

Hi, what do you do with your luggage if you book this after a cruise? Do they hold it for you?

Hi Cermahoil! When you board the excursion bus at the cruise terminal, the driver sorts the luggage for FLL or MIA airports and all of the big bags are placed under the bus in locking storage. The driver stays with the bus while everyone is out on the excursion. While some folks did leave some handbags and small backpacks in their seats, I only had a small travel purse and I took that with me on the boat. After the excursion, the bus dropped passengers at the FLL airport and then the MIA airport. (If you like Cuban sandwiches, the little snack shack at the headquarters building made a pretty good one.) It was a fun excursion, and about a million times better than sitting in the airport. :)

Hi there. I just booked this excursion. Our flight is at 5:30 out of FLL. Are we going to have a ton of time at the airport if our excursion starts at 9?

I was in the front right seat and I could’ve touched at least two of them right on the head - but I kept my hands in the boat! I think that if they were in the ground or on a rock, they might be able to get in… but not when they are stretched out swimming. It was a very interesting afternoon. :)
