In 1833 Marcus Samuel decided to expand his London based antiques business into import/export, importing Oriental sea shells for sale, among other things. When he died in 1870 the business passed to his two sons who began importing oil as well, creating what ultimately became Shell Global.
Ren did his homework for this one.

This is such an awesome song. You may recall that he references it in Hi Ren - when Bad Ren talks smack about Good Ren’s creativity, he says “the pinnacle of your success is stealing other people’s material / Ren, mate, we’ve heard it all before / uh, ‘she sells sea shells on the sea floor.’”
When Britain voted leave, my father applied for German citizenship after having lived there as a Brit for over 50 years. He had always seen himself as a European, and besides of not wanting to be treated differently, he was so embarrassed of how this all had played out, he said it became even more important to him to be European, whereas it did not mean a lot to him anymore to be British.

Have you guys done the Jenny and Screech trilogy yet? If not, I highly recommend it. If you do, do the (full) version with all three stories in one video (can be found on Ren's channel).
I think you skipped the end of the vid, but just FYI they will do the trilogy later.

I think this was the first song i ever heard from Ren. i didnt hear or see the original video though, im pretty sure i heard it as a social media meme somewhere, i had no idea it was Ren at the time, and only realised when i found Hi Ren at start of this year!

In the iTunes pre-order chart, Ren is sitting at number 1! He overtook Ed Sheeran about 3 weeks ago and overtook the Rolling stones about a week ago! There's a real possibility of him getting a number 1 album! :)

Someone already mentioned how shell gas station started. I cant remember the company name, but Ren said take as many shells as you can find and stockpile them high till theyre rarer than a diamond. This literally happend. The company put loads of diamonds in warehouses on a random island until they were 'rare' then sold them for tons of money. Diamonds arent rare, they were just hoarded to jack up the price

Em and Ren are unicorns both. The difference may be that Em is raw about his own life, and expands to metaphor in specific areas, and Ren begins with the larger metaphor and ties it to his experience...but both do the opposites as well, Em just seems more specifically personal maybe?

Music is just music unless it changes something ... you can listen to this song and say yeh, amazing, he nailed it but if you go back to living your normal consumer lives then this is just music ... if you want this song to become irrelevant you need to change how you live and influence those around you to live differently ..
