      Yep. Mountains are not a joke. I climbed this one off season in june and I checked the forecast thoroughly. Not even mentioning the cardio preps.
      As I understood these bullet guys climb at night. Even though Fuji in particular is quite "civilized" and has an easy road you just gotta follow, it is still a very bad idea to go up/down the slope in the dark cuz the risk of accidents rises dramatically. One slip, one injury and you may not be able to proceed and be exposed to the elements...

    I actually hiked every other week to prep for Mt. Fuji. The highest peak before tackling it was 10k feet. Even though the day time was perfect, the winds at night and drop in temp, along with a lightning storm that started in the early evening, was a challenge. Thankfully, I packed for the unexpected. I was lucky enough to see Fuji-san’s shadow and watch the sunrise at the peak. Following the rules and respecting my environment I also carried my trash with me back down the mountain.

The mountain trail was packed with people as the different routes eventually merge nearing the summit. When you look up you'll see thousand flashing lights lit up the mountain like a Christmas tree. I once climbed a mountain straight up without any safety gear and it didn’t have much walking trails. It was really natural with some ropes and local villagers who helped out. This was in the Philippines and the mountain wasn’t as big as Mt. Fuji. But we spent about 8 hours from 3 AM to about 1O PM - 1 PM. I was in a tour group with experienced climbers but so many were first timers and some were even really old. I walked up so much I lost weight, strength and a bit of sanity. I climbed 5-8 floors in my university regularly (the elevator sucks) but even that stamina is not enough. The guide said this isn’t for the weak because some in the past actually slipped and fell by accident especially if it rained. Thankfully it didn’t rain til the afternoon. Mountain climbing is no joke. The view is nice at the top but the journey to go up is not for the weak especially the elderly. We actually stayed longer than expected because some of the old people had to take breaks. Tourists who go to a big mountain in bad weather even with dedicated trails and stairs are dumb.

    People do a thorough research before going somewhere…ask someone for details who has went before. Find out the risks of danger when climbing. Find out the proper gear and clothing. Research …Research because it can SAVE YOUR LIFE. 🤦🏻‍♀️ BE FULLY PREPARED.

    This is the downside of making a strict permit system: People feel that if they don't push to go on the day they got the permit, they will have to wait another year to try to climb. So they take risks such as this, instead of waiting until another clear day.

    • @Slla-th5vt
      @Slla-th5vt Месяц назад +4

      Don't blame the permits. There are many idiots who push themselves even when there are no permit required. Plus he went from Hong Kong, if he is spending on flight and all for the trip, he is going to push himself even if no permit is required. More then that, he should have either trained properly for this activity or recognize that he cannot do it and not partake in it.
