Catch The Wind

A cover song!!! Pretty rare for me but I hope to record more of them. This is a great Donovan hit from the 1960s called CATCH THE WIND. Recorded many years ago by Retro Metro, a group I had with Bobbi Page and Sid Page. The first time I heard Bobbi sing I fell in love with her voice and started writing songs for her. I think we ended up recording 25-30 songs - 3 of which are unreleased. CATCH THE WIND is the first of the 3 remaining songs to be heard. I met Sid Page possibly before I met his wife Bobbi, playing on orchestral sessions in Hollywood. He is one of the most creative and inspriing violinists I’ve ever known. I’m very proud of the all the string stuff Sid and I came up with on all these records. Back to CATCH THE WIND - as we were recording records in the early 2000s, music supervisor and good friend Andy Hill, asked us to record a cover of this song for potential inclusion in a big movie. Well, since we’re releasing it here, it obviously wasn’t chosen for the film! But I still love what we did with this classic song. The song feaures terrific playing by Don Markese (ethnic flutes), Nick Brown (guitars/mandolins), Dave Stone (bass), Jean Marinelli (French Horn) and me on everything else. The accompanying video features the beautiful photography of Stephanie Spaulding and the models are Mikaela Pietsch and Phil Pietsch. Time to pour a glass of wine and get romantic!
