Everyone is trying to go faster this year as far as most of the RUclipsr's that drag race and it's sad to hear that the powerplant is coming out of the Nova but I am glad that you are going with a BBC and not an LS,LT,Hemi or 481X even though them Hemi's and 481X's are very hard to beat especially if Proline or Steve Morris built it but I do recommend that if you plan on going into the 6s then I would go with Fuel Tech's FT600 not only can you put multiple tunes into the ECU and change from one tune to the next while sitting in the lanes by using the touch screen dash and only having to hit a couple buttons on the screen but you can also test and check to make sure that each coil pack is working properly and you can test and check the injectors to make sure they are working properly as well and it has a practice tree built into the ECU and you just use the bump button and transbrake like you would normally if you were staging the car for a race so you can get practice to cut a better light for when it matters
Nothing hotter on this earth than a young woman with her hair up & a plasma cutter in her hands, working on a wicked 55! Bob Falfa would be proud! I salute you! Great job.
Tell your dad thank you from a father who is also teaching his daughter how to build and imagine bigger in life. You saved a really rough 55 from the crusher to go on to be hopefully a 6 second car driven by you. That's neat and thanks for not cutting up a nice rust free 55
Thanks for noticing the roughness and why it was perfect! lol I meant that seriously, not sarcastic. The car really was destined for a sad end to its life, if we didn't do this. We were worried some people might still say we cut up a good car, but it really was wayyy far gone.

Alex, you and your Dad are awesome. I wish I could do this kinda work at a shop with my children. But they aren’t into it. I just want to say Alex you are so adorable.
There’s a lot to be excited about here. Getting in the 6’s, you’re Dad and you teaming up, a new car to learn and create from (almost) literally nothing. Will be watching this one closely! (And plasma cutters are the bomb!) 😄
Usually when people cut the dash out of a tri-five it ends any chance of ever being restored to a “normal” car. I love 55’s so can’t wait to watch the progress of this build
You one lucky young lady to have a dad as cool as he is. I would have loved to have a dad into racing. But it just wasn’t in my deck of cards. I wish you and your dad good luck in the next season racing as a team. Gonna be a sweet car when it’s done, Can’t wait to see it on the strip tearing it up! ✌️
In my 25 years of cutting cars up, Ive never seen a car get cut up without having inner bracing welded in first. Congrats on the new car and new goals!
Hey there! The car was in really awful shape lol The video did not do it justice. There wasn't even enough connecting points on the driers side to keep everything square. After we got everything cut out, we have since gone back and squared it up based on measurements off of other 55s and got it much more square than it would have been, had we done it prior. Once we put it on the chassis table, we will user a laser level to get everything square from there :)
@@RidingWithAlexTaylor I figured y'all were smarter than that. Some people cut a car up and then get pissed off when they go to hang them doors 😂😂. Keep up the content, your doing great. some more COE content would be awesome
Hell's yeah Blasphemi would be a good race but as badass as that car is Mike is nowhere near the 6s. Yet. Be funny as hell to watch Mr. Finnegan get his doors blown off by a girl...
Yeah so if yall follow Finnegan's Garage regularly like I do you know that Blasphemi has been put on the back burner for a while Mike has many other projects going & Blasphemi's engine was damaged due to a shifter bracket accidentally installed backwards causing it to go from 2nd to 1st overrevving that poor hemi to the sky several times until she finally broke. So give Mike a lil time he knows we all wanna see that 55 back on the dragstrip yanking sick wheelies off the line. But blown 426 hemis aren't chump change today so give him time we're talking about the legendary Mr Mike Finnegan here. Blasphemi will be back faster than ever I just know it.
Alex some of us guys would listen to someone talk about what oil to use in their race car for an hour. Trust me you're doing great and not boring anyone. I also like the dynamic between you and your dad, I hope to restore a GTO with my dad in the next few years. Can't wait to see Race week this year it's going to be exciting!
New subscriber here. Just wanted to say. That was a great video. I love to see a girl who is that ambitious and not afraid to get her hands dirty. Wish either of my 2 daughters or my son, showed that kind of enthusiasm toward cars. I don't know where you are from. But I am from a suburban town, south of Boston. And to people around here. That car would be considered, practically rust free. And a perfect candidate for a restoration. I own a 57 Chevy Belair Gasser. And I am looking forward to your upcoming videos on your 55, and your quest for 6's. Thanks for entertaining us.
I was going to buy a 55 with a tilt front just like that when I was in high school but it had a fast 350 in it and was a 4 speed and had 456 gears but my mom said NO! This was in 73
I am excited to follow along on this build !! You guys almost have the whole Chevy Hot Rod collection !! You have the Chevy 2, Nova, Camaro, Nomad, 55. All you need now is the 2 body styles of the Chevelle ( 67 and 69 ), and 55 Vette, maybe a 69 stingray
I really enjoyed watching this. Takes a brave man and woman to do this to any car. That car was rough, and I really look forward to the next chapter on this. And great to see you and your dad working together.
My first car in high school was a 1955 Chevy 2 door post. I paid $100 for it. Was just about the same condition as yours. Had the original 265 V8 but in a box. I rebuilt it from ground up. This was in 1975. Wish I still had it!!!! Looking forward to this build.
Haha! They are helpful 🙌🏼 I already moved it to the scrap pile, but that would have been interesting! lol We will be adding some weight back in with new metal though. Shooting for 2,800# then having to add weight for the RMRW class.
In the 90's I was involved with a car on the quest to be the first 55 Chevy to go in the 7's in the 1/4 mile and break 200 with a STEEL bodied "street" car with a V.I.N. and all the working lights and horn etc....Even with the car built with all the lightest components , and a 632 with tons of nitrous....it was still a struggle , but we finally broke both barriers. The biggest problem with shoebox cars is the aerodynamics when you start getting to that threshold. Engine technology today is way better , and easier to make way more power without killing parts , but at some point you will fight the wind. On a side note , we took that same drivetrain from the 55 and put it into a 2000 Camaro chassis car that was the same weight as the 55 give or take a couple pounds....but just doing that swap into an aerodynamic body it picked up over eight tenths and several MPH.....good luck with your build! Your Dad is ultra talented!
I always think it's so ironic. People who plan to build a stock body car find a shell that has no floor and replace floors quarters everything. People who plan to cut the floors out... somehow find cars that have decent floors and cut it all out 😂 yeah you can see it needs a couple floor patches but compared to dd speed shops tri fives... that floor is mint😂
Haha! 😂 I am not familiar with their cars but that's a funny point! This car doesn't look as rough in video as it did it person, but the more we cut, the worse it actually was lol Promise we didn't hurt a good 55!
Yes I agree with you there. Here in ohio that 55 is clean compared to what we have restored. But either way it's NOT our car it theirs so they get to do with it as they please.
@@RidingWithAlexTaylor oh I'm sure it got worse and worse and dont worry I'm not upset about a perfect 55 being ruined 😂 it's not much of a shell even being like that (that old front clip was cool tho. Hadnt seen one like that with that hood) but there were floors! And most of the rockers!!!😂😂😂😂😂 that's a lot in terms of tri fives lol
Very cool, one big limitation with the ‘55-57 Chevys when trying to go really fast (below 7.0) is it’s terrible aerodynamics. Above about 160 MPH these things are like trying to push a billboard sideways through the wind.
Been following this build on Instagram and decided to check out your RUclips. Awesome content and love the videos, you're amazing, keep up the good work. Also I love how excited you get about destroying things lol!
I really enjoyed the deconstruction of the 55. Never seen a build from the beginning. Looking forward to the chassis build. I’m going to practice building a race car on my wife’s Rogue.
I am 72 yrs old, but still I remember the day back in 1955 with my Dad going to the Chevy dealership and driving home in a brand new 1955 Bel-air with the 265 Ci V8.
I’m also 72 and remember when my father traded his ‘55 Ford Convertible (yellow / black) for a ‘57 Chevy Bel Air (red / white) with the fuel injected 283. Unfortunately, our local Chevy dealer could never get it to run right and he traded for a ‘58 Chrysler station wagon. That was a sad day for a 10 year old kid. On the plus side, the wagon became Mom’s car, he opted for a ‘57 Triumph TR3...
Neatest part of what y’all do is the Father/Daughter relationship! As a Father myself to one sweet girl, it is special like y’all’s. The 55 will be another great car to add to your stables. Not many folks have a 6 second 55, a 7 second Nova and an 8 second Camaro! Pretty cool. Love the COE too. Me and a buddy are about to start on one of those ourselves. Looking forward to the progression! Alex...you gotta make a mess to bake a cake.
Omg. if I could get one of my daughters interested in working like that with cars. I've tried ... But it's not interesting for any of them. (I have two daughters)
Yes, but it's very important to let them find their actual interests. Unfortunately, that sometimes winds up being boys and they is TROUBLE! (I have a drop-dead gorgeous 17 year old granddaughter and I have to remind her periodically that BOYS IS TROUBLE).
Your dad is one hell of a fabricator, I’m sure he will have that car looking like a show quality race car. For instance look at how nice he made you, stunning.
Haha! I think dad is pretty set on a flat bed at this point :) but the COE should be with us on the race weeks, so it will be cool to see the 2 together!
So glad y'all are gonna keep the patina look. That was really satisfying watching all that stuff come off with the power washer. Can't wait to see you taking this build down the track.
Hey Billy! Thanks for watching. I think I am going to like the patina once it's all said and done :) It will be going down the track sooner, rather than later! lol

What a transformation, looking forward to this one. Well really all the stuff you & your pops put together. Really cool...
Nice project, I heard the "plasma cough" standard issue when cutting bodyshells 😂 keep the progress coming on this one..
You one lucky young lady to have a dad as cool as he is. I would have loved to have a dad into racing. But it just wasn’t in my deck of cards. I wish you and your dad good luck in the next season racing as a team.
Gonna be a sweet car when it’s done,
Can’t wait to see it on the strip tearing it up! ✌️
I swear I could smell Acetylene when your father was torching the frame mounts.
BTW Alex, too slow on the GoPro pan, we could see the blower hat. 😁
same here
Great work with the plasma Alex........👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀
In my 25 years of cutting cars up, Ive never seen a car get cut up without having inner bracing welded in first. Congrats on the new car and new goals!
Thats what I was thinking in the pics she posted on fb
This car actually had floors. It wasn't bad at all. Watch DD speed shop. He just put complete floors in a couple of them. This car isn't bad at all.
@@kennethlaw5216 your reply just let everyone here know just how little you know about cars. Good try tho
This is the kind of Father in law I want in the future. 😁
👍👍 this Will be Awesome,
Cool car, super cute girl, working beside your dad, this is AWESOME ,definitely following along.
I know you’re going for 6’s but I still want to see this going against Blasphemi!
I was thinking the same thing.
Or against murder novas 55
@@kennyrogers1243 have you seen his 55 in the last week?
Alex some of us guys would listen to someone talk about what oil to use in their race car for an hour. Trust me you're doing great and not boring anyone. I also like the dynamic between you and your dad, I hope to restore a GTO with my dad in the next few years. Can't wait to see Race week this year it's going to be exciting!
what's up with the no show of the nomad? It makes me want to freeze frames and take a peek.....
It's a customer car and the customer prefers to keep it a secret for now. I can't wait to show you guys when I'm able to!
You don't mess around girl. 👌👍
@@RidingWithAlexTaylor Oh wow - for the longest time I thought that was your dads. I get it now why the car being kept out of the shots.
@@RidingWithAlexTaylor I was wondering too! Oooops better trim off 30:44 then! Awesome work!
Ah, to have that plasma when I redid the floors on my Trans Am..
Makes the job easier for sure! lol
Really good idea to show all this for car people like myself that have never seen a full tear down and rebuild.
I was going to buy a 55 with a tilt front just like that when I was in high school but it had a fast 350 in it and was a 4 speed and had 456 gears but my mom said NO! This was in 73
I’m glad I found this channel. I am very much looking forward to follow this build
The floors and trunk was solid in that car
Very far from it actually..
Solid compared to what I’m used to seeing in Illinois lol
Your dad has to be the proudest dad in the world...you kick ass..
It's awesome to see a hot girl getting in there and working hard
She really is absolutely gorgeous. And incredibly skilled!!
@@danhalen2579 would you be calling her “incredibly skilled” if she was ugly ?? The amount of simps in the comments is vomit worthy.
55's cool but more C.O.E.
I really enjoyed watching this. Takes a brave man and woman to do this to any car. That car was rough, and I really look forward to the next chapter on this. And great to see you and your dad working together.
'We need a bigger boat!!'
My first car in high school was a 1955 Chevy 2 door post. I paid $100 for it. Was just about the same condition as yours. Had the original 265 V8 but in a box. I rebuilt it from ground up. This was in 1975. Wish I still had it!!!! Looking forward to this build.
I need a plasma cutter in my life! Talk about weight reduction. You should weigh everything u cut off for the sake of science lol
Haha! They are helpful 🙌🏼 I already moved it to the scrap pile, but that would have been interesting! lol We will be adding some weight back in with new metal though. Shooting for 2,800# then having to add weight for the RMRW class.
Positive point about that you can add the weight back in where you want it
In the 90's I was involved with a car on the quest to be the first 55 Chevy to go in the 7's in the 1/4 mile and break 200 with a STEEL bodied "street" car with a V.I.N. and all the working lights and horn etc....Even with the car built with all the lightest components , and a 632 with tons of nitrous....it was still a struggle , but we finally broke both barriers.
Your an inspiration to the drag racing world pretty girl fast car you go girl keep doing your thing. Awesome content 👍👍
If any man is considering pissing you off, I hope they watch this first.
wake up to your truck cut in half sitting on the street. hahahaha
I love the relationship you have with your dad makes me smile ear to ear ,😄 wish I had a bond like that through my life
Very cool, one big limitation with the ‘55-57 Chevys when trying to go really fast (below 7.0) is it’s terrible aerodynamics. Above about 160 MPH these things are like trying to push a billboard sideways through the wind.
It's going to make it more interesting lol Just working with what we have :)
Been following this build on Instagram and decided to check out your RUclips. Awesome content and love the videos, you're amazing, keep up the good work. Also I love how excited you get about destroying things lol!
Come on if you want to go fast you have to cut through the air, that thing has the aerodynamics of a Peterbilt.
Part of the challenge :) It's what I have, so I am working around it lol
Wasn't it Enzo Ferrari who said "Aerodynamics is for those that can't build horsepower"?
@@farmtruck9885 Jeff Lutz’s 57, Joe Barry’s 56, and the Crampton/Lindberg 57 wagon all run 6s.
Andy Bond over here in the UK with his '56 I'm sure got in the 6's
I really enjoyed the deconstruction of the 55. Never seen a build from the beginning. Looking forward to the chassis build. I’m going to practice building a race car on my wife’s Rogue.
let's goooooooooooooo
Sounds like a cool project - but remember, if you have to fake “the patina” then it ain’t patina.
Fsuxtina.....
Turn the COE truck into a ramp truck for the 55.
I think I am going to like the patina once it's all said and done :) It will be going down the track sooner, rather than later! lol
Does this mean MOM gets her Camaro back? :-)
Haha! no. I'm saying it's mine at this point lol 😉 I will be racing Badmaro too this season. Just not during the race week events.
THAT will certainly be the time (in the 6's) that we'll all want to be Riding With Alex Taylor!
I love Alex's delight at the new project at the start of the video...really shows she wants to go...and go fast! I just discovered this channel last weekend and binging, seeing a young woman not only be this hyped up for race cars...racing and wrenching is so good. Alex...keep THIS quality content coming, so refreshing!
