Can't thank you enough for posting this amazing video of the Rochester, PA model railroad museum. I visited them a few years ago for the first time and was so impressed with the displays that Joe Long has done. In fact, I was so amazed that I donated my entire Lionel O scale model trains and Plasticville collection so that others could enjoy seeing them. They have gone to a great new home and that makes me happy. The entire Long Family have done an outstanding job of creating this museum of Rochester History. ThankYou!
I got to tour this layout last year. Met Joe . Really a nice guy who explained all the historical references in his layout. The video is great but, there is no way to explain how much fine detail this layout shows . Really really almost unbelievable detail!! Thanks DJ for sharing this video.
How many people dream of building a layout that is a copy of their home town, let alone taking it back in time. Very nicely done. Z scale may well be small but is surprisingly very rich in detail. Have operated some small exhibition layouts based on German & Swiss themes and the amount of detail on the locomotives (especially steam) is a wonder to see, and given that dcc sound operation is possible it's amazing that they can get everything in to such a small space within the loco body, and some of the liveries available are brilliant pieces of art in they're own right.
Outstanding !! Love the detail and textures, especially of this era in HO. Nice footage at the end with both Nickel Plate locos. The aluminium sided cars wheels appear to be singing a happy tune.
Very well done layouts, George Sellios, would be proud of,love the stream NIckelPlate with the heritage unit passager special 👍, well done vid DJ, enjoyed it, take care buddy. 👋😎🛤🚂
The little abandoned passenger station in the town where I live also has a tunnel which is now fenced off. Oh, was that steamer a New York, Chicago & St. Louis (Nickle Plate) 2-8-4 Berkshire?
Very nice! I know the people over there very very well the layout is VERY realistic to historic Rochester by the way you may want to get some drone footage of the Beaver Valley Bowl its in rough shape and will be torn down in the future sooner or later real neat building
A very, very nice layout. I still have a ways to go before getting anywhere near this level of detail, but I do appreciate history, and have tried as hard as I can to make the details on my layout accurate to the 1940s-50s.
keep up the great work this scale model the town is great adds history to those like myself that enjoy history especially in USA and small towns within the tri state area keep the awsomme super work you have a gift that u been blessed with
Is this a permanent display? I don't know when I'll be in the area next, but would dearly love to see this! Also, did he model the Oriental Theater? (looks like the back of it at 7:46) That would be cool to see again. 🙂
The display is permanent. Check out our Facebook page for hours and special events. My number is also on the Holiday Open House flyer. I only live 2 blocks from the museum and can come down any time if needed. You can text me anytime. The Oriental Theater is not modeled. It wasn't built till 1930 which doesn't fit the time period unfortunately. However we do have numerous pictures and artifacts displayed in the museum including actual seating.
Hi DJ. I think you are understating how good that HO scale of is, fantastic is an understatement. I now know not to go Z scale going by how much troublesome that it is. If you like steam trains, perhaps this video ruclips.net/video/hr5sAsUzz5I/видео.html will interest you. It is Australia's most loved steam locomotive which has just finished being through a full restoration.
@@djstrains The diesel unit at 8:37? The diesel is in fact a NS unit painted to commemorate the Nickel Plate. The steam loco, the 765, is indeed owned by a separate organization.
Which gauge are you referring to? The Z-scale is set to 35 MPH scale speed and the HO scale is set at 25 MPH for freight train and 20 MPH passenger train. What would you recommend?
I'd recommend ignoring negative comments from people who have never made their own videos. This is always the case. The ones that criticize NEVER have EVER posted a video of their own. So they sit at computer and criticize others.
I love it when there's a story to go with it. The stories are what really brings it to life.

Great layout and set during the time period I like. I have seen very few model railroads depicting this period.
You and me both!
I like that Cheezie Walmart display. LOL
Thank you for sharing. Love the steam at the end. Jt
Thanks for watching!
Love that steam whistle at the end!!! ❤️
I know, right!
The old Hyattsville, MD, had a tunnel that my brother and I used to run back and forth. My Dad worked at Tip Top bakery
Awesome layout, and the detail really shows.

Thank you very much!
Fantastic detail! I prefer modern railroads but I can appreciate the detail and historic accuracy.
Same here!
Dj did you happen to run across the river to see the train display in Monaca?
Not yet. This was last minute since I live very spontaneously
Outstanding video! Thank you.

The best HO scale layout videos let the viewer experience the magic ….
Without commentary of someone talking it up, just quality videography .
There are plenty of those on RUclips. I do what I do, and people enjoy that also.
Why is it always a Troll with One or Zero Subscribers that always wants to make negative comments on a well done video. You Trolls are pathetic.
