Rabbi Singer's perspective is unbelievable. Not only is he a legitimate Authority on Abrahamic Theology, he's got an incredible grasp on the 'human condition'.
I was a Christian once. And it was very much consistent with Rabbi Singer's example. I was in a very bad place. I was suffering immensely with my OCD and also Substance Abuse issues. And 'yes', I do in fact have an immense amount of tattoos.
The only thing that separates me from the person in Rabbi Singer's hypothetical example is that I never felt comfortable with Christianity from a doctrinal perspective.
'Why must we be saved from our own G-d'?
'Why would G-d torture people eternally for the most innocuous of reasons'?
'If G-d designed us, then it rationally follows that he also designed the very precise and unique nature of all of our brains. Some people are naturally more 'skeptical' than others. Why he create a person with the Neuro chemical propensity for 'skepticism', and then 'eternally punish' that person for being the 'non believing skeptic' that he was designed to be'?
Why did G-d have to stage a disgusting Blood Sacrifice in order to 'forgive' people for 'their Sinful Nature' of which they played no part in manifesting? If G-d is Omnipotent then he doesn't need to ordain a disgusting Pagan Blood Sacrifice to atone for 'Original Sin'?
Those are just a few questions that I had that never were or could be reconciled.
Many years ago, I was at this 'Christian Retreat' run by two nutcases.
I went there under the advisement of my lawyer who's a pretty devout Christian.
Anyway, it was there that I experienced The Catalyst that would lead to my 'emancipation' from this Pagan Cult of Human Sacrifice called 'Christianity'.
I inadvertently stumbled upon a video on RUclips that said that 'contrary to Christian Theology, The Tanakh says nothing about an eternal realm of torment for the pettiest of transgressions... It says that everyone goes to Sheol'.
Obviously that's a 'paraphrase', but it was enough to 'cast doubt' on a 'worldview' that despite my most earnest attempts never felt 'right' to me.
So... Ultimately I started studying Jude of Christian Theology, and the 'corrupt nature' of Christianity became more and more blatant.
I didn't begin to identify as Jewish until relatively recently. My father is Jewish but he and just about everyone else in the family is 'secular'.
So... I ultimately 'found my way'. Praise Ha'Shem!

Thank you for sharing your perspective and story. Just one important point that you should be aware of. There is a big, big difference between leaving Christianity on the one hand and becoming Jewish on the other. I can't say precisely the words he would use, but if you were to ask Rabbi Singer privately if you could now identify as a Jew because you've left your Christianity behind and your father is Jewish, he would probably explain to you that there is no such thing as "identifying" as Jewish. One is either born Jewish, which according to Torah law means being born of a Jewish mother, or one can convert to Judaism. There is also the possibility of being a Noachide, which is a non-Jew who believes in the G-d of Israel and keeps the seven Noachide laws (and can get a share of heaven at the end of life without ever converting to Judaism!). So it sounds less like you are Jewish and more like you are on the path to becoming a Noachide. I cannot stress how important this distinction is. Understand that there are other branches that purport to represent Judaism that claim that one can be Jewish through one's father only. These branches of Judaism are still made up by a majority of people who are actually Jewish, but because they don't follow the oral law of the Torah, they are not practicing Judaism in the form that Rabbi Singer ascribes to and which he would (and does) teach is the historically correct form of Judaism because it is the one that most precisely conforms to the teachings in both the Jewish scripture and the oral law, neither of which correctly represent Judaism without the other.
On a personal level, I want to acknowledge you for preserving through what must have been tremendously tough times! I'm so glad you are feeling better. 🤗

When it comes to 'Conceptual Abstractions' such as the concept of 'identity', the nature of said abstraction can vary according to the context that it's being used / evaluated in.
So... From a purely Denotative Theological perspective what you said is all Undeniably True.
When it comes to a 'Societal Perspective' however, things are different.
Take Legendary Rock n Roll Artist Lenny Kravitz and his ex-wife Actress Lisa Bonet.
Kravitz' Father was Jewish and his Mother was Black. Bonet was the opposite. Bonet's Father was Black and her Mother was Jewish.

We need to pray for all mankind to turn to the G-d of Israel. I have and He is still working on me. Please pray for me and my adult children. I grew up believing JC but not turning from sins until I saw evil manifest into the flesh. When I really started looking for true forgiveness and started searching the NT there was no forgiveness and full of contradictions. Someone told me to listen to Rabbi Tovia Singer and Hashem opened my eyes that there is only One true G-d and that no one can die for the sins of another. Deuteronomy 24:16 and that there is only One G-d Isaiah 43:10-11. I got rid of the NT and want to be pleasing to the most high.

@Timur: Nowhere did God ever mention "Muhammad" to us - that name is ONLY found in the "Qur'an", that is NOT scripture that was given to mankind by God. As a non-Jew, you should be following the 7 Noahide Laws that were given to Moses to follow. And Islam blasphemously preaches that the ETERNAL (i.e. STILL in effect and binding TODAY - a LIVING document!) Hebrew scriptures that God gave to us at Mt. Sinai, are "corrupted", which is impossible, since God already told us that those words are ETERNAL - meaning STILL to be followed TODAY! PLEASE learn from the rabbis, as commanded by God in Deut. 17:8-11 (in the absence of the Temple, the rabbis are our spiritual teachers).

Sinai, therefore NONE of those writings are "corrupted", and to say that they are, is totally blasphemous and is to believe that God, Creator of the universe, DOESN'T know the meaning of the word "ETERNAL", which is what He said to us about the Hebrew scriptures He gave to us there. God DOESN'T give us "corruptions" and "contradictions" - it's just that you have never STUDIED the Hebrew scriptures with the rabbis, therefore you don't know the meaning of the texts. God specifically told us to LISTEN to what they teach, since they have been studying the original Hebrew scriptures all the way back to Mt. Sinai.
There is nowhere in the Hebrew scriptures where God ever mentioned "Muhammad" to us, therefore he is NOT one of God's prophets, and you need to do some research for YOURSELF on this subject, and not just accept what you've been taught all your life! Because, I also was taught the wrong thing all my life (Christianity) but I did my OWN research on what God ACTUALLY said to us at Mt. Sinai, and this is something that neither Christians nor Muslims do any research on for themselves. Use some common sense - God CANNOT produce "corruptions" and "contradictions" - this is just unfathomable! PLEASE think VERY carefully about what I just said to you - and if you are TRULY interested in following our Creator, you will do the proper research and learn His ACTUAL Truth for yourself as thousands of us have already done.

Don’t only listen to this rabbi, it is important to discern everything for yourself what you hear from teachers. Look up Daniel 7:13 .. it says nothing about the messiah NOT being born from a virgin. Instead go read Isaiah 7:14 where it says the messiah will be born from a virgin. Discern everything you hear. May Yah bless you all.

Since the beginning theve had to atone for their sins with a sacrifice to God the wages for sin is death and jesus was a perfect man sent down by God as an act of extreme mercy to die for us

So God could dwell in the tabernacle made by men but not in a body created by himself? God's intention is to dwell among his people in a building of blood and flesh , not in a building made by stone . Jesus is the cornerstone who was rejected by the builders. His temple is still standing . The temple in Jerusalem is not .shalom
No, God doesn't dwell anywhere. That is a Greek, Roman heresy invented by Romans and Greeks in Europe.

My question is, when exactly do the Jewish people do this? Be the light so we may be saved? All I hear is how wrong Christians are and how right Judaism is.
