" unfair to let them use substitute peas". no it wasn't because the Dictator said it was OK. If Rose allows it, then it's fine. Plus they all had the chance to look.
I do think the uneven adjudication was a bit unfair on George. If they were going to go hard on technicalities for the straw, they should have done the same for the peas, or vice versa. The half-strict half-lenient approach is pretty frustrating.
Previously, they also did not count multiples of the same thing as different things. Though I agree the wording of the task should have been clearer. The intent was clearly that the bowl peas would count, so the wording should have been more airtight.
you can tell that the peas were intended as a part of the task, but the word different was really the problem with the straw. I think it's fair, but the wording certainly could have been clearer for the peas task.
The problem with allowing straw to be counted as multiple items is that they would then have to count each individual piece of glitter another child used. If they didn't think to do that at the time, it'd be impossible to do on stage.
Yeah, in general I don't remember any studio task in the series being nothing but pure luck. Like sure, you had mind games like the "sink or swim" thing or tricks like the chain in the boot with the heavier or lighter thing, but the contestants having basically zero input seemed super weird. Feel like the game would've been more taskmaster if they were allowed to shake let's say, up to two cans and it's not an elimination on something being inside of it, but instead a specfiic object, but that object can be made of different things or something like that.
@americascreepyuncle said it. You could not have asked for a better "Greg/Alex" combo for a series about children than Rose and Mike. This episode shows it completely. Mike remains the ever dutiful assistant, but we actually start to see the "taskmaster" in Rose come out. Where she actually tells the children she does not care, while previously building them up earlier in the segment. These two could absolutely create just as much as a following as the "other two."
i think Rose in particular deserves her flowers. Most of the comments gush about Mike and with good reason, but I've come to realize that the Assistant template is actually easier to pull off than the Taskmaster's (I used to think it would be the other way around). Seeing Paul Williams and Mike thrive, while finding Jeremy distinctly lacking despite his obvious charisma, has proven to me that it's hard to play the "dom" role well. I'm not saying Rose would be a good TM in every scenario, but I do think that in this one, she sculpted the perfect persona and it wasn't guaranteed that she would succeed.
@@SpoookiePoookie keeping a nice atmosphere going in the studio is a hard task! especially since these kids are not seasoned public performance professionals. good job Rose for keeping it light and fun
I genuinely awwed when Shenaya said she fed the Zebra the pea because she thought it might be hungry. :D At first I thought that Junior Taskmaster might be some kind of a "lesser" version of the original, but I have to admit this is thoroughly enjoyable, the kids are phantastically bright, witty and interactive - and Rose Mataefeo and Mike Wozniak are perfectly suited for the job.
One of many cute differences from the regular series is how when Mike mentions a task they actually all remember it because their brains are still working at 100%.
I’ve watched all the adult episodes and up to this children’s episode. I am convinced that the adult comedians are reaching into their child like sensibilities for humor. These children are straight on funny without effort! Bless them
I will say, the "twist" of the two-part tasks is way more telegraphed in Jr. Taskmaster. Like "remember the 15 words" was the first thing I thought of when they read the first task. And it's VERY obvious that part 2 of the peas task is gonna be "retrieve your peas, fastest wins" and I haven't even gotten past them hiding the peas yet.
Given that the adult contestant barely do any better at seeing coming either 18 seasons in, I think it's the pressure that just makes everyone like that.
Rose and Mike are doing super! I think it is not an easy task to catch that Taskmastery vibe and make it suitable for children. Personally, I liked the previous episodes more because the children were more...genuine? As if they cared more about the tasks than being on TV
I think I found all the kids in episodes 1 and 2 quite likeable and thought both those groups had good dynamics with each other. This one was more of a mix, which made it harder to root for them.
absolutely loving JTM, the kids are funny in a way you don't expect them to be BUT it's so sad saying goodbye to them after one episode only especially this episode they were such a cute and polite bunch :'') i really wanted to see more of ebrima and george and liana was really funny but i guess this one episode system is healthier for the kids bc competition isn't always a good look even on adults as we've seen on TM lol so it wouldn't be good for them to be overly analysed and criticized by random strangers on the internet every week
Having the final task, which is so important for the score and determining who is going to the final, completely luck-based is quite a letdown. (Justice for Liana!)
Right? All other tasks in the episode tested their ingenuity if not skills, and then the last task was "let this random number generator decide the task's winner and reduce the relevance of all prior tasks." Just why?
They could have used something to Check whether there is something in it or not - the snakes weight barely anything so it is still a mild distinction. They could Touch an already opened tube and then poke the tubes. They are not touching them - the tube is. They just chose not to
@@johndewhirst8761People get frustrated, it's OK, especially kids... but I didn't find anything funny or clever about that bit, I just felt some sympathy for his frustration but that's it.
i know it would have been difficult with scores considering these kids only did one episode and one had to win it but i would have loved to see them tackle team tasks
I've belatedly come to the realisation that the kids' tasks are normally more quantifiable compared to the adults' tasks. (Fastest, furthest, most number of etc.) This is because the kids may not be as good at abstract thinking as the adults, and to make them fairer to judge. The kids won't appreciate Greg tearing into their subjective artwork for example.
I'm a teacher and I'd argue that kids are actually better at abstract thinking than adults (they're more willing to be creative and they have less fear of failure or looking silly) but I think you're right that they'd rather give them quantifiable tasks so that Rose doesn't have to judge kids subjectively.
Although to be fair George had his obnoxious moments too. A little teasing of Mike now and then is one thing, but he was going past silliness and just taking out his frustrations on Mike.
@@junbh2 you're right, but I think the alternative to that would have been just crying in frustration (probably what I would have done) and it would have made for much worse TV, so props to him for only getting pissy I guess. He also got robbed of 5 points for the bellybutton and the straw thing not working out must have been crushing. Poor kid, I think he had lots of charm and wit to offer
I was worried I wouldn't like seeing the kids perform and it's been better than I expected, they're great. I still think one of the big problems I have with his series is that the points actually matter since they get to continue playing if they do well. Changes the usual unimportant stakes, and that's just so unnecessary for the kids. The "hay" being different things was pretty devastating for that kid, and it just didn't need to be. Taskmaster shouldn't actually be a real competition, and it almost never is--except when we make kids compete?
Yeah, I hate that, although I also think that having the same kids every week would create different problems. I guess you could have a new group every week with no semifinals or finals.
Not a fan of the stage task, since it seemed entirely luck-based and the odds changed based on the order they chose. I would have done round-based point assignment for that. Was so hoping to see Liana move on 😭
Wasnt luck based. They could have used something to test whether there was anything in there by moving it.. like with an already opened tube. They dont Touch it, the tube does.
@@junbh2 The 'rounds' are irrelevant. Every kid starts with the same odds of getting eliminated regardless of the order in which they go. If two people draw straws, does it matter who goes first? No, both have a 50% chance of ending up with the short straw. Same goes for three, four or five people, same goes for regardless how many good or bad straws there are.
@bartman999 I'm sorry but your math is incorrect. If I have 10 marbles in a bowl and 5 are red and 5 are blue, the chance of getting a red one decreases each time someone gets a red one. If the first person grabs a red marble, I have a 4 in 9 chance of getting a red marble. If the person grabs a blue one I have a 5 in 9 chance. So yes in this case the order does matter. Seeing as everyone picked a good tube in the first round, the chance of getting a bad one was increased by a lot for the person next to pick.

Liana is the standout in this episode. Sassy but funny.
Now, I know she's a child and it comes with said territory, but she struck me as petulant.
@@varsoonhks3211 me as well, but not in the spoiled sort of way, more in the "she's had a hard life already" way.
@@varsoonhks3211 Yes, there were petulants all over her face in the memory task!
Bit disappointed the studio task was so random. Loved every other task in the series so far, especially the multi-step ones!
"lil orange" is gold
"Annoying orange" was already taken
no, it's orange
The quickness with which she seemed to answer was even better.
@@PelleKuipersShe's thought of this before
All the redheads have been great so far and I was sad each time not to see them move forward
At first I thought that Junior Taskmaster might be some kind of a "lesser" version of the original, but I have to admit this is thoroughly enjoyable, the kids are phantastically bright, witty and interactive - and Rose Mataefeo and Mike Wozniak are perfectly suited for the job.
I never realized Bill Skarsgård was so small.
Dude
He is 1m92 ...
@@Awelbeckkaaaand thats the joke
Vastly underrated comment
Rose and Mike essentially got 5 kids to "tar and feather" themselves... and if that ain't peak television, I don't know what is.
One of many cute differences from the regular series is how when Mike mentions a task they actually all remember it because their brains are still working at 100%.
How is a Cardi B hat more surprising than a hawk feather? How is a cardboard cutout of a kid more surprising than a HUMAN BELLYBUTTON?
He was reinterpreting the task. The cardboard cutout was surprising because he uses it to surprise his mom.
Maybe they were surprised that a 9 year old was listening to Cardi B?
Guys, it is confirmed, there IS a fish poster in the shed! I repeat, there is a fish poster in the shed!
I’ve watched all the adult episodes and up to this children’s episode. I am convinced that the adult comedians are reaching into their child like sensibilities for humor. These children are straight on funny without effort! Bless them
Some of the kids put a lot of effort into being funny
I will say, the "twist" of the two-part tasks is way more telegraphed in Jr. Taskmaster. Like "remember the 15 words" was the first thing I thought of when they read the first task. And it's VERY obvious that part 2 of the peas task is gonna be "retrieve your peas, fastest wins" and I haven't even gotten past them hiding the peas yet.
I mean yeah, it has to be a bit easier, they are children.
You know, you might have a chance to outwit some of these 10-yr-olds,..
Given that the adult contestant barely do any better at seeing coming either 18 seasons in, I think it's the pressure that just makes everyone like that.
First I thought it would be do a painting without using what you named.
Rose and Mike are doing super! I think it is not an easy task to catch that Taskmastery vibe and make it suitable for children.
Personally, I liked the previous episodes more because the children were more...genuine? As if they cared more about the tasks than being on TV
I enjoyed this episode more than the first 2.
I think I found all the kids in episodes 1 and 2 quite likeable and thought both those groups had good dynamics with each other. This one was more of a mix, which made it harder to root for them.
absolutely loving JTM, the kids are funny in a way you don't expect them to be BUT it's so sad saying goodbye to them after one episode only especially this episode they were such a cute and polite bunch :'')
i really wanted to see more of ebrima and george and liana was really funny but i guess this one episode system is healthier for the kids bc competition isn't always a good look even on adults as we've seen on TM lol so it wouldn't be good for them to be overly analysed and criticized by random strangers on the internet every week
The pea task was brilliant and hilarious! Definitely the highlight of the series so far.
Having the final task, which is so important for the score and determining who is going to the final, completely luck-based is quite a letdown. (Justice for Liana!)
Someone could have grabbed a can and then shook the rest before opening their first one ai suppose
The one kid putting on the shaving cream gave me flash backs to home alone, it was so cute
Mike's Rap name would be "Big 'Tash" 🥸
Street Tough?
What they didn't mention is you can taste the "A"ness in those peas
Granddaddy checks the “A”ness, so you can taste the pea-ness
I hope grandma had herpeas.
Mike is a perfect 'replacement' for Alex. He really fits the role of Taskmasters assistant. He could've easily have pulled off being Greg's assistant.
I think he's better for kids than he would be for adults. I'm not sure he'd be firm enough with some of the adults.
Lol The shoutout to Aunty Barbara. Nice callback to "Would I Lie to You".
Black and blue nails are so cool
Anyone else think Finley is related to Ed Gamble?? 😂
His lips & eyes aaaand the WAY he speaks makes me think of Ed
I thought that of Zach in the last episode
The last task, being purely luck rather than skill, was so unfair to Liana who was in second place before it
Right? All other tasks in the episode tested their ingenuity if not skills, and then the last task was "let this random number generator decide the task's winner and reduce the relevance of all prior tasks." Just why?
@@mihir2012 The adult taskmaster have luck-based livetasks as well, like the spinning wheel one. Not that I enjoy them personally.
@@mihir2012the ingenuity of randomly stumbling upon a pot of peas? Or the ingenuity of future sight to know what the actual task will be?
They could have used something to Check whether there is something in it or not - the snakes weight barely anything so it is still a mild distinction.
They could Touch an already opened tube and then poke the tubes. They are not touching them - the tube is.
They just chose not to
First episodes I thought Rose was going too easy on Mike, damn do the kids compensate for it
Was rooting for Ebrima. 😐
Why?
George showed some great “Undermine the vole” skills in the pea task.
I don't think he was particularly interesting or creative in that task
@@junbh2 He's a kid
@@johndewhirst8761Yeah, and I liked him. But I think he just got frustrated rather than being funny or clever.
@@johndewhirst8761People get frustrated, it's OK, especially kids... but I didn't find anything funny or clever about that bit, I just felt some sympathy for his frustration but that's it.
He, unlike the vole, has chutzpah.
Again the casting on this show is fantastic!
The editing of this show continues to be absolutely top-tier.
i know it would have been difficult with scores considering these kids only did one episode and one had to win it but i would have loved to see them tackle team tasks
I wouldn't be surprised if the posh blonde fella ends up cast in the harry potter HBO series as some Slytherin character.
I think the studio game should never be pure chance
George got robbed on so many ways. Absolute protagonist! What a lovely mind, hope he had fun.

George was not having a good time in the studio sometimes 😭😭😭
I found Finley a little obnoxious a couple of times. I wish they weren't sat next to each other, though I know it's always alphabetical.
Although to be fair George had his obnoxious moments too. A little teasing of Mike now and then is one thing, but he was going past silliness and just taking out his frustrations on Mike.
@@junbh2mostly is edition to keep a comedic narrative. But yeah, George was done in the peas task
This is the best alternative TM host pair by a mile.
1:55 Well, according to the podcast, Mike is in fact very fit and was achieving some notoriety for it

Mike is killing it. In the good way.
George stressed me out 😭🤣
I need these kids for a whole season not just one episode
Not a fan of the stage task, since it seemed entirely luck-based and the odds changed based on the order they chose. I would have done round-based point assignment for that.
Was so hoping to see Liana move on 😭
Wasnt luck based. They could have used something to test whether there was anything in there by moving it.. like with an already opened tube.
They dont Touch it, the tube does.
The odds don't change based on the order they choose.
@@bartman999 They gave the lowest points to the first kid eliminated, even though there were multiple kids eliminated in the same round.
