elbryan9 pretty much, it all depends on what you're tuning to of course but as long as its in the green then your're tuned to a note on that string. you decide what note though. the thing about it being chromatic is that it picks up all notes on the scale and tells you when you are close to one or not. its pretty hand if you can't tune by ear.
I was wondering since i want to learn to play the guitar to get rocksmith. Do you think it's any good for newbies? (Btw i checked it on steam and saw the buttload of songs/DLC and i want to know if there's like a season pass i could get or bundle with most of them inside) Thanks.
As someone who tried to learn with it, it depends on what you're trying to learn. If you want to learn music theory, then no. It doesn't really teach anything about it besides scales. If you just wanna practice technique in a less tedious way, then yeah it's great! You're going to have to do a lot of work outside of it though.

I spend more time watching this guys hands then i do the actual song if i am honest. Get it on G2a and get the wire from amazon :)
