If anyone hasn't noticed Bobrovsky doesn't spend all his time on his knees as most NHL goalies do now,and thus,he has more mobility. That big save at the end is the result Edmonton also keeps shooting high and missing because Bobrovsky is not going down too soon.He is supposed to be weak there but there is no angle to see the net. This is how all goalies used to play, and it works better.

    • @peterolbrisch8970

Saw Edmonton fans demanding that Bobrovsky be deported lmao. Some even suggest that they should petition the Canadian government to ban him entry from the country or somehow withhold his paychecks 🤣
I know the Edmonton area has always been a bit racist and xenophobic , i can attest to this having visited the area numerous times but this brings it to a whole other level of pettiness and desperation.

I remember the “stand up” goalies of the 80’s. At one time goalies received a fine for flopping and Eddie Shore had a noose on the crossbar to discourage his goalies from flopping.
Now all goalies are butterfly goalies.
Room for all styles. If you stop the puck who cares how you do it?!!!

Take a closer look at the McLeod chance. There is not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 Panthers sticks in the way, clearing out the rebound while everyone not McLeod stood around watched him being swarmed. Panthers play as a team, committed to a system, support each other, and trust each other. Edmonton play as individuals and have not trust in each other and no support.

    • @toedrag-release

edmonton's biggest weakness is the inexplicable collapse of the defense at certain times, which is then always brutally exploited, and skinner is part of the defense.
Of course you can't rely on mc jesus or draisaitl, who has completely disappeared, at least the others score three times and do their best, but yeah, then there's bobrovsky, who plays like he's afraid of being drafted into the ukraine war if he plays badly.
As an edmonton fan, it's awful to watch , a nail biting experience, because you're constantly expecting these bloopers of defense.

You know, I kind of want to make fun and tease about the Oilers and their performance so far, but I really just get the feeling that I don't want tear down the fans anymore. The organization? Sure, they are inept, the gm can't put together any depth, the coach makes bad plays like pulling the goalie early, and the players keep on stubbornly trying to play only one way and clearly don't want to adapt, but the cans? The fans don't deserve the hate.
Trash talk is one thing, little bit of friendly ribbing never hurt anyone, but we don't have to completely tear them down. Their team is doing bad and they're aware of it, but in my opinion, as long as they tone down the hero worship of their players and look at things with a bit more objectivity then no harm no foul.
The Oilers are not my favorite team, and I'm not fond of too many of the fans either, but I believe that they can be a good team, if they learn from this. If McDavid and Draisaitl come away from this humble and willing to learn, and if the gm can learn to not throw huge money contracts at players that don't fit the system or plug up any holes for the team, then yeah, maybe next year they can come back and claim the cup. Anyways, have a good one guys, go Cats.

So many know it all commenters here. How many have actually played in the NHL and know what it takes to get to this level? At this level the games can go either way on any given day, call it luck, chance, the right place or decision at the right time, or an athlete just peaking at the right time. Both teams have made mistakes and both teams made great plays. Sometimes things just work and sometimes they don't. It's easy to look at a game in hindsight and say the result is because of x y and z. But, NHL athletes and coaches know all this already - that's why they are pros and YT commenters are not. As an oilers fan, congrats to the Panthers. They are a solid team. Two cup finals in two years shows real talent throughout the organization. The oil are a great team too, but the hockey gods have not smiled on them in this series. I will hold onto some hope for a miracle but I will thank both teams for some great hockey watching.

Good comment, I agree, it’s been some great hockey to watch. Stanley Cup winners usually have a great goaltender or one that’s on an unstoppable streak. Bobrovsky has done that. Skinner has also been amazing, but not quite to that level. Oilers had a tough start this season, but found their mark and became a strong force to contend with. I really hope this is not a 4 game sweep, it would not do justice to the effort and quality of play I’ve seen, except for maybe game 2.
