- More tactical chat, I read the comments from yesterday, to give a bit more detail, I'm aware doing better than Ole isn't that hard and 'rebuilding' Manchester United isn't perhaps the job but giving things a tactical tweak with some interesting additions and tactical style is fun, and hopefully you're enjoying it!

Next do it better should be Newcastle, but with the added twist of disabled transfers for the first summer as the takeover only happened in October.
Fix Bruce’s mess of a squad that will probably get Newcastle relegated and then invest in January as you think they should, will be really interesting!
Also an added caveat of having to include Joelinton in the first team squad so they can pretend he wasn't a complete write off of £40m

This is the most tactical analysis I think I've seen you do, great content. If you could bring it in to your main saves offscreen it will really help them too. not a bad thing
I do! I just have to usually fit in a different type of content into the videos for the main series, but I am thinking all of the things I'm talking about during those series.

So glad u are doing 2 series on fm just to keep the content fresh watching this whilst isolating and also doing my own glory Hunter with Leipzig. ( currently in 3 on 62 points and only 8 points off the tittle with 6 games remaining)
Played as United during the beta.
Went on a run of about 3 months without losing before the League Cup final against Villa in February. About 12 points clear at the top of the league.
Ronaldo comes off injured during the game, a game which we utterly dominated until Villa scored in the 117th minute.
Hit continue, Ronaldo out for 8 months after doing his cruciate ligaments in. Next day he says he’s considering retiring.
Two days later he retires.
I then lose the next three games (2 league, 1 champs league) without scoring a goal.
Rollercoaster of emotions.
Mid game change was probably a mistake. Knocking Fernandes back to a support duty actually meant that your front three had less support when they were already struggling to hold onto the ball. You needed to reduce that line between midfield and attack, maybe look to slow down build up to allow the midfield to progress with the attackers or look to have midfielders drive the ball out of midfield i.e. roaming playmakers, BBM and mezalas.
I have similar concerns to you around your BWM on support, there's not a great deal of transitional play between defence and midfield and they are meant to be doing that. Defend duty is definitely something you could try, alternatively take it off such a limited role, DM on defend may be what I'd try here.
Really loving the analysis too, the use of stats is fascinating and it's quite fun to compare how you do this to glory hunter and other series
Analytical, tryhard Ben is so good to watch. This is why Do It Better is such a special series exclusively for this reason. Keep it up.

I really love this series! Just feel like this is how I'm supposed to play FM, very in-depth, every move have reasoning and consequences. A breath of fresh air!
I've been playing FM for 3+ iterations now but the way you broke down the Arsenal loss in detail and then explained how you're going to approach the Liverpool game has really made me consider taking more time on analysis of past results etc

I’d LOVE a player like Barella at United, I think a player like him could give the back 4 a good amount of cover, which is something we lack massively at the moment. Loving the series!!
Great series! A possible improvement regading the role of CR, if you put him on left wing, try RMD role. I've made him score 50+ in first two seasons with 433 formation same as you.

Really on board with your explanations for the series Ben, and really enjoying it-I wonder if there might be teams where it would be interesting to disable the first transfer window? (I know that might affect the pacing of a series where it's kind of a get-in and get-out situation)
Corners are way too strong for sure. Doing a United safe myself right now, I got Verane and Fofana with 13 Goals each all coming from near post corners last season. I ended up trading Ronaldo away in the January window but he scored 32 goals in half a season half of those from headers as well.
Ben with Mourinho-esque tactical approach lol I'd approach this game very differently, with the team you have but the overall point is, the series is really interesting and nice to watch. Keep it up!

That was a great game against Liverpool, I would have brought on Rashford earlier though.

A slight change maybe to have Barella as a Box to Box and allow him to support Kondogbia with defending and support the front three. i think the Carrilero maybe too restrictive. Good job on this series though. really like it.
What skin is Ben using? It's bloody class. Especially the scouting centre screen.

Corners are very strong, but as it’s been stated previously it comes down to the ratio of taken/scored to how strong they are. I’ve noticed a lot less through ball goals this year but I think a lot of the wide cut in balls this year are being classed as crosses from what I’ve seen in my own saves
I'm also doing a man ufc save and I am currently 22 games in 19w 2d 1L gf 80 ga 22 gd58. I signed rudiger, cuadrado and Allan St maximin. My star player this season has been martial he has 23 goals in 18 games because Ronaldo got injured at start of season for a while so martial more than stepped up for me. Pogba has been terrible for me though and so has jadon sancho, they're my only players under a 7 rating. Bruno has got 14 goals and 11 assists in 22 starts. St maximin has got 10 goals 4 assists in 17 games and Mason greenwood has 17 goals and 5 assists in 19 games. That's how it's going for me so far walking the league atm but I know somethings going to happen to disrupt this run eventually. Liverpool are right behind me like 2 points behind. 59 points from a possible 66 is one of the best seasons I ever played in fm ngl but yeah my main thing is martial is so underrated on this game he is a goal scoring machine for me.
Also de gea conceded most of them goals since I switched over to Henderson I've had 9 clean sheets in 11 with de gea he had 1 clean sheet in 11

Looking good so far, the only issue I would be worried about if I was playing would be the amount of possession you had in that match compared to Liverpool while they had so many more chances compared to you. Seems like you have a bit of difficulty penetrating decent defences with Cavani as your forward, Rashford was much more dangerous when you brought him on?
in some games the tactic seems to doesnt work at all in attack, and i couldnt find a solution, well we beat newcastle 10-0 which was suer fun

Love this episode, very cool to see! I might try out Fernandes on the RPM, it's a role I've always enjoyed, and there's a lot of space ahead of him and around him because of the other midfield roles, so might be worth encouraging him to be a bit free-er?

I think this is a brilliant - I'd like to hope Premier league club coaches and tacticians go into this much detail - I think you are in the wrong job - I'd hire you to be a football tactical analyst - I think you'd really bury youself into the data and come out with some great presentations

An anchor would be good for kondogbia. So he moves more horizontally in relation to the back line.
You could literally leave everything in place and just continue and United will compete on all levels consistently

Just 1 question how do u manage to get that green line between player so fast im on my 3º seaon and 1º save and i get 2 green lines top per season and almost at the end(kinda in january).

Ok 9 games in and you've got the green lines between multiple positions? I've played whole seasons with more or less the same team and never got them? Any tips?

How do you establish/create those strong player relationships (green lines) etc? Prob really easy but can’t seem to establish any!
They will show up once the players starting to build a relationship, mostly just playing them together loads will do the trick

Tbf i do like him because hes so funny but this shows a different way of him playing the game which is very intriguing compared to the normal pisstakin saves
The game is so broken. Not only the goals from corners and crosses, but you have 61% possession away at liverpool yet have 5 attempts on goal and they have 19? Unrealistic.
