Does anyone see the not human off her left shoulder?
Oh my goodness. If i would of gotten this type of biblical counsel it would of saved me 11 yrs of an abusive marriage. Loved this story. ❤️
The last part brought tears to my eyes
Thank you so much, blessings my friend
So sad how marriages are suffering and destroyed by using only some selected verses from Ephesians 5. This is religious abuse.
Husbands and wives are called to submit to one another, and as it had been pointed out: Husbands are even called to bring the greater sacrifice of following Christ's example. As He was, they are supposed to be servant leaders by setting an example of what is expected from their wives and children.
Now this is one very profound story! It would do us all a great good to remember that we all have flaws! It amazes me how many people forget that.
Yes indeed, well said ❤️
Amen. We are all human and have sins
Just humans being
A great story we all need to be reminded of! Thanks for another great post!
Amen. Firm faith in the Lord is the only road to walk. It’s not really hard to do the right thing. And if it is? Well, you just do it anyway.
What an amazing story about the strong women of Appalachia. Don’t grab aholt of something you can’t handle 😂👏🏼
It’s already in my bottom drawer
Those women has fire in em, and they let those men have it!
I love it! The intro brought back a fond memory of my sixteenth summer, when my mother volunteered me to help our preacher's frail wife to snap and string a bushel of green beans. She declined the offer, saying, "a young girl will find better things to do than snap beans with an old woman." I piped up and asserted that I love snapping beans. All morning and into the afternoon she related stories of days gone by and told a few memories of my own. We laughed and cried together. When the last bean was snapped, I felt like a woman. It was the first time I'd had a conversation...woman to woman.
So beautiful, thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank you for this story. Your stories bring back a lot of memories for me.
My mother told me that my daddy was mad at her, because I (the first born) was a girl. She told me that Daddy would not give me a name until I was nearly a month old. Old Dr. Blair would come by every few days (to get the name for the birth certificate that he needed to get filed). That's why there is a big "DELAYED" stamp on top of my birth certificate. I do remember both of my parents telling me, "You're a damned old girl." "You can't be a Veterinarian (and many other careers) because you are a damned worthless girl". Mom told me many times that I would only be a wife and mother. However, before I became a wife and mother I was a member of the Women's Army Corps. The U.S. The Army changed the future for me (and both of my children) with the G.I. Bill. By going to college I helped set much higher goals for my children (which helped them both move up in life). Time and education changed a lot of things for girls and women through the years.
Yes, I love purple hull black eyed peas.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Beautifully written. I bet you have one heck of a story to tell.
This brought tears to my eyes & look at all you did in spite of that negativity. I am so proud of you! Well done! 👏 ❤
Ugh....I know men that were like that when thier wives were pregnant. They should be ashamed of themselves. They're the ones who determine the sex of a baby in the first place...not the woman. They should be greatful they have a health baby and the mother survives it too. Men like that don't realize what a blessing it is to have a healthy baby and a healthy wife after giving birth. One of my cousin's husband ran out of the doctors office pitching a fit like a spoiled brat just because the ultra sound showed it was another girl. My uncle pitched a fit because he didn't have a boy either. It's because he was a spoiled brat too. Now he feels ashamed of himself for acting that way, because now he has grandson's. I remember my cousin crying and telling him....well daddy you finally got your boy. He felt so bad and he hugged her and said I wouldn't trade you for nothing in this world. It made him cry too. My daddy wanted boys too, but he had two girls. It does hurt your heart when you hear such things. 😢
@@bonniebrown6960 My daddy wanted a boy too when I was born back in 1950. But when he found out I was a girl, Mama teasingly asked him if he wanted to take me back and swap me for a boy. He proudly said, "Nope. I'll just keep my little girl". He was always a good daddy who always loved his little girl.
Purple hull peas remind me of my mama. She always had them in our garden.
Amen, Sally Ann! Sometimes, it takes a strong woman to lead the pack. A very good story, J.D., with a lesson of faith, compassion, and standing up for what is right.
Yes indeed, stay safe out there my friend
My new favorite story! I cried, I laughed, and I found great comfort in your granny's wisdom, J.D. Just beautiful!!
So happy you enjoyed it- have a blessed day
I couldn't agree more. JD's narrations affect every one of my senses. That, my friend, is the sign of an amazing storyteller. 😊
Now THAT was a story!! Absolutely delightful!
Thank you Lisa!
Oh such a good story!!!!! Thank the Lord for Miss Sally Ann!!!! 🙏🤣 Men need to hear what she has to say! 🍁
Sally Ann was 🔥
What an awesome story ! Love that she already had the dress papa was wanting to buy grandma !
yes, I was wondering when someone would point that out... Granny Toilette had a little fire in her too!
This story gave me goosebumps and made me cry at the same time. Thank you for sharing with us. Some of these stories can set a soul on fire!
Thank you Lisa, there’s a powerful message in this story
You know, this reminds me of that episode of Andy Griffith, where they would take one story and blow it out of proportion. Its also funny how me and you talked about our grandparents telling stories to us when we were younger. God Bless You Brother, Keep The Stories Alive!
Maybe my favorite Andy Griffith story was where Sheriff Taylor kept pressuring little Opie to give more to the school's poor fund. Opie wouldn't do it and he didn't want to say why. Finally at the end, Andy found out that Opie had been saving to buy his little girlfriend a new coat bc she'd outgrown her only one and couldn't afford another. So I think it was Opie who eventually asked what they were having for supper. Andy said something like you and Aunt Bea are having pot roast. I'll be eating crow.
Have a blessed day brother
That was a wonderful story! I have to admit I got all choked up. I cried when Granny said "lawww child" , My husbands mamaw always spoke just like that, when you were accounting anything surprising to her. She is long passed and awaits the Lord in sleep, but I could see her just as vividly as if she was here again. I hadn't thought about that in many years.
I will never forget after we were first married and he had joined the army, and we came home to see them before we left. She took one look at my husband from across the room, and said ," D*** you got born again didn't ye, Oh praise the Lawd your finally saved", and she reached over and grabbed my hand. The thing was he had gotten saved, and we never mentioned it to anyone. She had alzheimers in fact, and sometimes ,didn't remember our names. She whispered to me thank God for ye , you take good care of my D. And that was the last time we ever saw her.
When my husband was little he slept with her, until one of his older sisters moved out and he got that room. They were very close. But no one was allowed to talk about the Bible in the house. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. I know God told her, it stunned and shocked us both. I truly believe He told her so she could die peacefully, which she did, in her sleep.
Oh my, how beautiful is that. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us ❤️
Wow. Another great and inspirational story! They’re all great, but these that have your family’s connections, well they just seem to hit different than most. Thank you, JD! Thanks to granny for sharing them with you. Lotta wisdom in this story!

Awww.. that’s sweet to hear.
Your ability to highlight the humanity of the mountain-folk is unparalleled.
Thanks so much!
Mama shoulda named me Sally Ann, 🙂. Great story, on this wonderful Sabbath day! God bless y'all!
Sally had fire in her! 🔥
Your stories always take me back to my childhood. Simple times are what we need today 😢
I’m doing my best to keep those days alive
Aint much I like more than an outspoken woman who ain't scared to speak her mind and put someone in their place!!
Sally Ann Had fire in her and she let ‘em have it 🔥
What a great story that was! My favorite thus far & i have enjoyed every story I've listened to. My great grandma was from West Virginia. She passed when i was 7 but i knew her to be feisty & extremely independent. These stories give me some insight to what life was like for her when she was in WV. ❤
❤️
What a great story.. our Pastor just preached about gossip last Sunday.. glad he didn't start calling names and laying it out Like Sally Ann. 😂😂😂
😂 😆
Slapping my knee and laughing! Thank you.
I think that Ms. Sally Ann is my new hero.
❤️
I got to say, if that story didn’t bring a tear to everyone who heard it, I would be might right surprised, it sure did mine. And then, at the very end, it brought laughter to me, laughter I needed. Thank you JD.
Thank you Richard, granny showed she had a little fire in her too, at the then end
Another excellent tale! I’d say that Sally Anne was quite a woman but, truth be told, she sounds like nearly every woman in my family. I’ve long figured that with the absence of short tempers and loud mouths in the family being the rarest of exceptions that it is probably well-bred in us from long ago; and, I doubt there was ever a time that an Appalachian woman was meek and reserved when she knew she ought to put anyone, man or women, in his/her place, no matter where she stood. And I am honestly appreciative of it. Lord knows what we men would be like if we didn’t have good women to humble us from time-to-time. 😂😂
Well said my friend
Great story with a wonderful lesson to not judge. Sally Ann was no joke. She got all the men folk told- got it off her chest. " husbands continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation & gave himself up for it." Ephesians 5: 25. ❤
Amen sister
Morning JD. That story put a smile on my face. I could imagine Sally Ann standing up giving all the business. You kept my on the edge of my seat with another awesome story. Take care and thanks.
Thank you Troy, have a blessed day
I love this channel. Being born, raised, and still living in Philadelphia, Pa this channel really helps me to understand the plight of Appalachia. Salt of the earth people. God bless you
Salt of the earth people- very well said!
I was raised in the little country church and believe me these stores are true I would set as a child and watch it would keep you on the edge of your seat oñe elderly lady would holler prais the lord so loud it would make your heart stop. Loved it
❤️
I grew up in West Virginia, My father was born in 1921 and my mother in 1928, married in 1944 we lived next to my grandparents. until the late 60s, Grandpa had a well, mom would go over and pump water from the well and carry it in a wash tub to our house, she wasn't any bigger than a minute and she carried that water every day till us boys were big enough to do it. She preached to us kids daily, I heard some stories like this from her growing up. WOmen from those mountains, most of them anyway displayed a strength of character and will that was unstoppable.
❤️
Another good one JD! Thanks for the time you put into these stories!
Thank you! have a great Saturday!
Truly touching 😢 Listening for a second time... So comical Sally Ann's response to Apostle Paul's being and doings, and how she was as spot-on in speaking into the lives of those who needed it. A fine example of how God can - in His good timing - choose to use whomever is an available, willing instrument... A fire and brimstone message delivered by means of the gift of tongues, and concluded with a love fest revival 😅👏
There’s a powerful message in this story, thank you for recognizing it ❤️
I don’t know how you keep coming up with these stories that are every one better than the last! I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes!
This is absolutely my favorite channel on RUclips.

Don't you a worry about that dress. It's laying in my bottom drawer right now. Love it JD. Love it.
That’s my favorite part- when granny Tollete shows that she had been a little fire in her too
Everyone needs someone like Granny in their lives ❤️
❤️
Amen praise the women who wasn't afraid to bring forth God's word
Yes Sir, Amen!
Oh, my word! Can't wait until that one goes public for sharing. I was almost in tears. Every era has its good points and bad; but for all our problems, I still feel as if we're living in the best time ever, so far. Nobody likes to hear this, but the supposedly good ol' days never were. At least not for those at the bottom of the pecking order. And God bless Granny for pinning those guys' ears back.
She was fire! And she let ‘em have it!
Wow Bless the Sallie Ann's of this world. I have no doubt this was God's work from the very beginning, it appeared these men needed a bit of all God's word. Yes mysterious way, but always perfect timing. Thank you JD for blessing my heart with this story.
I’m so happy you enjoyed it ❤️
Now, i absolutely loved this story. There alot of men in the world today that could take lessons from Miss Sally Ann. Keep o. tellin' them stories ,you tell them so great.❤

Would fit right in!
I really enjoyed this one I felt sadness happiness and pride for these women thank you so much.
Thank you ma’am
I can strong remember sitting at my Granmas feet listening to her tell stories while she shelled beans! I even helped but never as fast as her! I’d listen to her stories and remember being gobsmacked on how many 5 gallon buckets would be filled! I’d get lost in her talkin and stories and not even realize how long I’d been sittin there!
Precious memories
AMEN Brother!!!! I haven't laughed that hard in forever!!! That made me really happy!!!
So happy you enjoyed it!
🐸✝️ Obedience and Humility of the Virgin Mary ✝️ For all of us ✝️
It's like the old saying. Make sure your own porch is clean before you tell someone else theirs needs to be clean. No one is perfect. We all have faults.
Well said Larry
I feel like the mouth of God spoke through the mouths of humble women. Even a preacher caint top that! The beauty of remembering just who each of us are in the scheme of things. ❤
yes sir, well said
I loved this one best of all! I laughed and also got indignant for the church women. Years ago an elder’s wife was held in high esteem by the ladies and young women of our church. A newly appointed deacon thought he’d bring the ladies down a notch or two with biblical quotes. Mrs. H raised her chin and arched an eyebrow…we thought sure he might faint or wet his pants. Ive never forgot that! 😆❤️
Thank you Beth!
JD's story telling makes me long for the hills
❤️
My family went to a church like that one. In the Men's Bible Class, my Daddy taught a lesson of Haggai 1:6. Dad didn't know that the words of Haggai would start a firestorm by revealing the reason our congregation wasn't blessed. The firestorm brought on a great revival as the eyes of the preacher and the deacons were opened to the truth. The revival brought about major changes in attitude toward God and community. It wasn't very long before God's blessings began. Suddenly, there was money for improving and paving the main road; a major employer began hiring; new stores opened in downtown and, for the first time in years, there was growth in church membership. People can change but they need to be pointed in the right direction. Thank you, JD for reminding of how we should treat our fellow man (and woman). Blessings to you.
Thank you for sharing that ❤️
Another precious story! Your stories make my heart smile, and they warm my soul. Thank you very much for that.
Thank you Whispers, have a wonderful day my friend
ABSOLUTELY LOVE this story!!! Hip hip HOORAY for Sally Ann!!!! Desperate people do desperate things. Good Christian people donate money, time, services and work to enhance and help others who are in need. If a person is in a bind, ti doesn't hurt one bit to ask for assistance; and if a person has the ability and power to help a fellow person, that person with the ability should "open their hand WIDE" to render assistance.
Amen!
My best days were those spent listening to my Gram’s stories of how they lived through the depression.❤
❤️ ❤️
Sally Anne reminds me of what my first husband said about me. He asked was i a dang yankee. I said no I'm an outspoken Southern woman. Good for her! Great story!
