I don’t think Arena have one bad song in their repertoire. Simply brilliant.
Mitchell’s playing is so melodically beautiful, he is a master at developing a solo from beginning to end.
The guitar solo is one of the best every written.. Up there with Gilmour's comfortably numb
👍🏻 And also the final solo of 'Masters of Illusion' by Pendragon, imo
@@Jesusistheway5724 I just listened to it... Amazing!
Definitely every written, how right you are
Agreed. Dream Theater, The Spirit Carries On, Score CD as well.
@@andersfjogstad6122
Listen tp Piotr Grudzinski's final solo at 'Riverside's Second Life Syndrome' (album version) !!!
John Mitchell is a very underrated guitar player in my opinion.... Very tasteful !
Unpretentious, all play and no show off
agreed!!!
Totally agree! From time to time he gets a gilmour-esque style. Although not copying David, Mitchell surely has PF guitarist as an inspiration.
Totally agree. Arena, Frost*, It Bites... Fantastic!
100% agree! John Mitchell can make the most out of a single note like no other guitarist.
Awesome solo by John Mitchell. Great band great song
one of the must beautifull guitare solo and record track .... of all the time !! the album the visitor is a pure jewel..!!
I'm a 24 year old female student, and this is one of the best bands I've ever seen live in 'De Boerderij Zoetermeer in The Netherlands'. Arena will always be one of my favorite bands ever!
Paul Manzi is a great vocalist.Such a shame he has left.
@@waitinginthepipeline hell, i didn't know about his departure
I prefer Rob Sowdens personally, their very first vocalist was alright too, the one who sang on Songs From the Lions Cage. Their new vocalist is ex Threshold Damien Wilson, im looking forward to the next Arena album where he will sing on.
@@waitinginthepipeline
I heard Paul sing live yesterday in Duisburg (Germany) at the SWEET concert. He's still got it. 😎
@@galvatron3214 My two favourite singers are the other two (the two Pauls) 🤣. And unfortunately I don't like Wilson from what I've listened to in Rick Wakeman's albums
The guitar solo is is on par with the comfortably numb solo from Gilmour or the ice guitar solo from Andrew Latimer, just legendary.
The guitar solo is just wow!! wow!
You have to say Clive nolan really helps the solo with the sounds and the way he plays
Man, what a band. They are as captivating as Marillion.
Possibly because drummer was kicked out by fish years ago as he then wasn’t good enough
I have this album The Visitor and its first class in every way but this live intimate performance was nothing short of astounding this band is fucken brilliant
Ahhhh.... *that bit where it goes to Hanging Tree...* and Elea are my favourite moments of this fantastic album ^___^
LOVE. FROM. GUADALAJARA. 🇲🇽🆗
What a tone! What a player!
I just bought The Visitor on vinyl and it's stunning.
If Fish thought that Mick Pointer was an awful drummer, he was either completely wrong (which I suspect) or Mick's improved beyond belief. The whole band are superb musicians and the songs are brilliantly crafted.
All you have to do to hear how mediocre Mick Pointer's drumming was is to listen to it. His work on the Marillion debut isn't nearly as good as that band deserved. They were pretty restricted in what they could do musically with him in the band. That said, he's been great with Arena. I suppose he improved, and he's just a better fit with them.
@@nectarinedreams7208 So he improved by not even picking up a drumstick for 10 years?
WHAT a taste jeez , amazing sounds , from keyboards to an impressive soul in the guitar , with one of the best solo of the last 10 years. Mitchell is a true inspiration for me :O
Man, what a solo. What. a. solo. Definitely up there with comfortably numb
Simply the best concert we have been to for years. I simply cannot believe I had not head of this band before. Hope they tour again soon. And yes the lead guitarist is something else
John Mitchell playing amazing solo...Something similar than Gilmour and Rothery...
Wo, that solo entry is slower than on the record and thus... much chillgiving!
Just love Arena, they touch my herart With a gentle string, and John Mitchell is the best string bender ever 👍
Seen this band live and what a cracking band they are.. Regards to Mick and Nathalie.. See you soon folks..
Increíble!! Maravilloso!!!
Timeless Masterpiece
This version is better than the album version
Un pure moment de bonheur ...
That has got to be among my top ten favourite guitar solos!
This is great stuff. I have now two favourite guitarists: Steve Rothery and John Mitchell.
Yes😀
@@goodforever1792 Andy Latimer, Steve Rothery, Steve Hackett, John Mitchell, Nick Barrett, Piotr Grudzinski, Mike Holmes, Bryan Josh, Dave Gilmour, Dave Bainbridge, Niall Matthewson are all brilliant guitarists. If I had to pick one out of all of them, I'd choose Andy Latimer, but all these guys can blow your mind.
♫ *It was gone... in a FLASH... of a light* ♫
What I like the most here is the guitar playing of John Mitchell.
Hes like the PERFECT guitarist. He can make the guitar sing. CHEERS!
Mitchell surprised me a lot! You are right.
He is amazing!!
@@mrnkforbes Heritage of It Bites former Francis Dunnery, I always thought that John was a fan of him!
how much i like this band!
Grande banda!
Maravilloso!!!!
BRILLIANT band!!!
Brilliant 👍
John Mitchell is simply great
John Mitchell - unfassbar gut 👍 👍 👍
Just amazing!!!
Saw them this evening at Ver1no Prog Fest in Italy.
AMAZING show holy shit :O
Perfecto!
So awesome! Cant wait to get this release and hope to see you guys play in the US sometime!
Genioooooooossssss!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm 66 and I saw almost all the great bands. This is among the best album of prog. I saw them in Quebec city many years ago and I saw great musicians. But when you have seen Pink floyd, Genesis, Jethro, ELP. unfortunitly this is not the same level of concert (not the same budget). Any way every prog lovers should listen to Marillion, IQ, Eloy, Arena , Pendragon, Pallas etc.
I honestly think that every prog rock fan should have The Visitor in their album collection, its just such a good album.
And in 2018, the whole The Visitor album will be played live! ;)
So happy!
These guys are totally perfect, I like all of their albums, even EPs etc. only Seventh Degree OF Separation failed to impress me! But that one is pretty cool, nonetheless!
Hermoso tema❤
Great stuff!
Super!!!!
Que BUENA banda!!
Looking forward to the DVD release. hello from the USA
This is great! I just can’t tell if the drummer has been moonlighting as a chef or if he couldn’t be bothered to change out of his pjs!
Paul Manzi brings a new depth to Arena's music.
Awesome sound all around! Mitchel should get together with Steve Rothery for a little duette.
John outplays the mediocre player that is Steve Rothery by far, as much as I love Marillion and also Rothery's playing/sound. He fits Marillion perfectly. But Mitchell is a completely different league.
Assolo superbo con un feeling Marillion-Floydiano.
GRUPASO. DESDE. GUADALAJARA. 🇲🇽
As for that guitar solo, take a little inspiration from Floyd's Gilmour and Camel's Latimer....it GOT to be good!
Wow!
Einfach Genial !!
anniversary tour!! bring it on
straordinario brano
How dare they say Mick Pointer is a bad drummer? he is cool!
Mick Pointer is a terrible drummer who sounds like me when I was a beginner at 6 years old. Boring, technically unskilled, uncreative, just not able to pull something amazing off.
@@IngoVogelmann He's an absolutely excellent drummer. Do you seriously think that virtuosos like Mitchell, Nolan and Jowett would play in a band with him if he was not up to their standard?
You must be Fish in disguise.
Good!
John Mitchell is god playing the guitar..
très bel album
grandiose
muy bueno entre pink floyd y marillion
Fantastic solo dont know if Clive brought this to Prndtagon or they did it forst but its very reminiscent of Master of Illusion rven down to the very similar ending
Bueno el de la guitarra

Sounded like The Hanging Tree solo and ending.
Yeah, they're huge now, aren't they. Who are they again?
I came here for John Mitchell...but I stayed because the band turned out to be pretty decent too.
Completely disagree with most of the comments here. Paul Manzi is a far better singer than Rob Sowden and as for being more theatrical, really? Geez, you guys obviously ain't hearing what I am!
Amazing...I wonder if John listened to any Pink Floyd...
The solo rocks.........................
cannot see where to buy this dvd with this on it ????

Arena is proudly sponsored by Country Kitchen all you can eat buffet.
★★★★★
extraordinaire.... Pink Floyd n'est pas loin !
Como se llama este vocalista?
WTF---the solo...orgasm....
John Jowitt 🎶 IQ band
What album is this from?
The Visitor (Arena's best). Hanging Tree reprise.
Fucking A plus
Is difficult to say uncomfortable because this new Arena singer is a very good singer with to much tremolo use though. But this fantastic group loose much without
Rob Sowden, why? because the singers sing like the elevation they have, is not only to have a good rock voice,, is far more in that.. Is not only a thing about dramatics, like someone here say, is about who is who spiritual talking, and what comes from you the quality of feeling, what class of feeling is something transmitted,, some things go far away to say with words, but we all old Arena likers know that this new voice makes the band lighter and almost going to glam,, The new album dont give me the kind of inspiration that the others with Rob Sowden, is only my perception.
From the blurb I see John Jowett (ex IQ) on bass, as well as alumni from other good prog bands, but this just didn't do it for me. The composition is weak, but even so, this was 'by the numbers' identikit prog. Sorry, guys.
Turn your deaf aid on. I think it's one of the best pieces of prog I've heard (and I have over 2000 prog albums).
@@MrHistorian123
Congratulations on the size of your collection. It's been a while, so I gave it another listen; my previous opinion stands. Wouldn't the world be dull if we all liked the same stuff? BTW, I've been a professional musician.
@@paulbennett772 Indeed, it would be a boring place if everyone liked the same stuff. Personally, I purged all King Crimson and Van der Graaf Generator out of my collection some years ago, yet many prog fans idolise them.
@@MrHistorian123
I still like VdGG, but KC got too far up themselves, certainly after 1974.
