Ever wondered what are all the rocket boosted aircraft in War Thunder. Well I did and I found all off them :D I don't think I missed any this time.

you forgot the NF104. that was a astronaut trainer used by NASA during the early days. it was powered by the standard jet engine of the F104 but also had the hydrogen peroxyde fueled RCS thrusters of the bell X1 and the rocket engine of the ME163. jepp it was realy the same engine. the only change made was to switch to kerosene for the fuel. the oxydizer was still the hydrogen peroxyde.
Okay, the specifics behind the reason why the A4 have those boosters is primarily due to carrier operations and short runway operations. Skyhawks, aka scooters, were literally designed to be light attack craft and still they haul more bombs and ordnance into the sky than anything that was deployed in WW2.

I find it interesting how they gave all the rocket boosters brand new effects on their exhaust, but they left the rocket powered planes with just the boring old afterburner effect. Especially for the Me 163s, since the engine it has is the same as the one in the back of the Me 262 C1A, which did get the new cool effect. I hope they do add these cool rocket effects to the rocket powered planes, would spice them up a nice bit.
At least they still have one, my f11-1 completely last it’s flame for some reason, like you can look directly into the turbine it’s weird asf
I also wish they actually gave more tanks their real engine sounds
it's worse: the power output of the thing is still nerfed
5:15 Engineer here, its most likely to counteract the other booster if one of them should fail. The way its positioned if 1 of them doesn't fire, the one that does wont cause as much of a thrust imbalance.

The La-200 is massive though. I mean look at the thing, It's an interceptor with the pilots sitting side by side.

@@biomike01 They sorta do, the gear is very hard to break at speed, and I think they slow you down Abit too.

One funny thing about rocket planes like the Me 163 in War Thunder is that when you use the engines at low throttle you get a ridiculously high ISP: several times greater than any rocket engine ever created, completely disregading the laws of physics.
Yeah rockets thrust isn't modeled well in WT. Irl for the Me-163 more % throttle gave more output of thrust and low % was very inefficient

9:35 the La-200 has a tandem jet engine, which is kinda weird, even more with jet engines
4:37 irl, the Kikka has much less fuselage drag than the Me262, which means the former is much "cleaner". Where the Me262 has less drag than the Kikka is in its sweptback wings.
Fun fact: the Mirage IIIE's booster should be using the jet's fuel. I made reports about this and the ability to take the center pylon missile and guns with it years ago, yet it's been only half implemented.
Also the IIIE is massively overweight and slightly underpowered.

I think it is sad that there's only 3 rocket aircraft, because there was atleast twice more which can be adapted into the game( Natter will be so funny.....
The Natter would be a great addition. I live 2 kilometers from where it got tested, today only 1 start-platform remains.
I hope they also add boosters on C-130 Spectre if they will ever add him

The Sagittario/Ariete had another variant which was partially build which was called the Leone which used a rocket engine.
As an Italian main, I can speak more on the Ariete's second engine. The engine is a British-built expendable engine meant to be used on cruise missiles with no throttle control other than on and off. In-game, the engine is powerful enough to fly the Ariete without the main engine and is only on when full power + WEP is on (which would be shown as a sudden increase in temperature and the raising of the tail air intake. There was even another Sagittario 2 derivative that was going to be powered purely by a rocket motor called the Leone (though the project was abandoned before a prototype could be built.
The designer of the Sagittario 2 and Ariete, Sergio Stefanutti, also made another aircraft I would love to see in the game, the Ambrosini SS.4. The SS.4 had only one prototype made and it is essentially Italy's version of the American XP-55. However, don't be fooled by me calling it Italy's version of the XP-55 when it is actually the other way around. The SS.4 was first flown in March of 1939, at least 9 months before the Army Air Corp's proposal in November of the same year for unconventional aircraft designs for improved performance and another 3 years before Curtiss-Wright would first fly the XP-55.

yeesh, the day they make the german motors realistic (obnoxiously large steam cloud from hydrogen peroxide gas generator turbine, limited throttle capability, restarts are inconsistent, fuel sensitivity), those boosted german fighters are gonna suffer. it'd probably also hurt the BI and the Ki-200, or just the really early liquid rockets
I mean, if they're gonna do that, they'll have to make everything realistic, which means everything in the Soviet tree only works about half the time at best, and the statcards would lie even more than they already do.

and they all shot via photocell (aka once a change in light level was detected they'd go off, it took down 1 Lancaster which is good enough

You are Calling the Me's "Meshesmitts", while the correct way is to put the sharp sounding 's' first, as 'sch' is the same as the English 'sh' and double s just means sharp s. That's also where our funny letter ß comes from. Just an old, but still sometimes used replacement for the double s.

It's actually criminal that the Komet has to fight heat seeking missiles and super sonics at 8.0~8.7
It's a much better alternative to Komets dominating 6.0-7.0. I would only accept rocket planes with no throttle control at those BRs.

Yeah these boosters are extremely useful when playing as bombers. especially when you are close to the bombing target or need a et away.

ME 163 also comes with the occasional spontaneous ignition of the pilot when there's still a bit of high test peroxide left in the tank that sits right next to him in the cockpit that were known to crack occasionally on a hard landing. Or spontaneously igniting when leaking out onto various metals used in building the aircraft. Which was known to happen more than a few times while plopping down on the grass with your spring loaded skid plate landing gear. Still a neat aircraft. But also exceedingly hazardous in a multitude of ways. Probably the only thing worse was the N-stoff they made so much of but no one wanted to touch because that pretty much exploded and set fire to anything it touched. Which makes it interesting that they still made so much of it, but we know what that ended up being used for in the end. And what it's still used for these days.

A4e is a squad vehicle, A4B is a normal researchable vehicle, and there's the FJ4B too which is also a normal researchable tree.

@cerealeggvr6942 The A4H and E(M)? It's just normal progression through the tree. That's like tier 3 on the tree you could get it in 8 hours if you play sim and realistic.

I would like to see the Me-263 in WT. It had proper landing gear and 15 mins of flight time. Whole not perfect that seems to fix 2 big flaws with the Me-163
When you spoke of the Kikka fighter, you mentioned that the fighter deviates from the original plane it was meant to be.
That is most probabbly because a lot of the documents sent to Japan for the recreation of the Messerschmith 262 were lost with the sinking of the U boat which was carrying them. I am not aware of details, but for all I read in my armaments books, said U-boat was sunk and later the documents were retrieved by Japanese divers. That may be the reason why the design deviates. Another reason might be Japanese engineers changing up the design on their own accord.
It appears that later on in the video, you mention the submarines in question... I didn't watch that part when I wrote the comment above
