I have an enormous library of orchestral, chamber and vocal works arranged for piano solo and four hands. In playing these on the piano I have actually found Symphonies 5 and 6 the easiest to put across. One cannot always tell by listening which are easy and which difficult. Then, everyone's approach is different. Many have stated that of Brahms' four symphonies, the 3rd is the most difficult for an orchestra. I have found it on the piano to be the easiest, and have so presented it. The Brahms 2nd and Dvorak 6th sound similar, but if I was assigned to do one of them at the piano, let me tell you, I'd much rather have the Dvorak - far more grateful under the hands.
I have loved Beethoven since I was a very young child, 8 years old. and have felt akin to Pastoral since, I am now 54 and every year I gain a greater appreciation of this piece. Thank you Andrey for sharing your obvious appreciation of this most beautiful Pastoral, it offers how Beethoven may have played it on his piano. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
My grandma was a concert pianist, and she was so patient with me as a student at 6 years old. I loved the music, but alas was never a good pianist. I love Beethovan also. I'm 66 and will forever luv pastoral & other great classical music. Piano or orchestra, I luv it all.🎶😀
Cried all the way to the end. I don't think I'll be able to appreciate any other music than Beethoven any more. This is so helplessly beautiful! And by far the best interpretation on solo I've ever heard!
Join the club! To me, after I discovered Beethoven some 20 years ago, other composers' music seems not as powerful anymore. His music, I will listen to till I die. Especially, to his late quartets.

It must be really something to be conductor and orchestra at the same time! To be able to interpret and perform a whole symphony by yourself, play it the way you want at the tempo you want. Wow...
Franz Liszt transcribed all (I think, certainly most if not all nine) Beethoven's symphonys for piano....I think this is his arrangement. I actually prefer this 6th symphony on piano, it's amazing. Glenn Gould used to play it aswell, fantastic version, altho I'm not sure if Gould played the full symphony, I've got a recording of him doing first movement.
@@stechapo9050 Franz Liszt was a serial transcriber! In addition to the symphonies of Beethoven he transcribed the works of Schubert, Rossini and Wagner to name no others. Cyprian Katsaris recorded all nine Beethoven (Liszt) symphonies on the Teldec label. They are all great but my favourite is the mighty Eroica. They are all available on RUclips so you might like to search them out.
@@lardyify : Thank you, I will certainly have a listen to Liszt's piano arrangement of the 3rd symphony. Do you happen to know if FL arranged any of JS Bach's works??
Your comment caught my attention. My feeling by this symphony, is not a question of beatifull but feelings it wake up in me. The end of 4 part immerse myself in a deep feeling as I was in my deathbed look at all my past life and saying goodbye.
oh !. Mr. Andrey Gugnin. thank you, thank you very much. I respect you !. I have heard so much times beethoven symphony no.5 the moment I heard your piano performance throughout, I was much impressed. thank you again.
3 years late (lol) but came from the Glenn Gould recording. May not be peers, but I personally think this interpretation is much better. It feels closer to the symphonic version
Being a huge fan of the great Glenn Gould, I was pretty sure I would end up skipping this. He has a way prejudicing me against other interpretations (even when he's "wrong" ;) ). I didn't skip. I love it. Well done.
Non piano players probably don't realize how difficult this is. Playing symphonic music on a piano is no easy feat! Beautiful.

speaking from experince it is very challenging
What a true musician. Only a great musician would play a Beethoven symphony on the piano. And by memory, no less. Bravo!
Transcription by Liszt
Only beethoven composed piano conecert number 6 for his violin concert.
A genius

Incredible. Absolutely. What a treat? What would Beethoven had said? Is this how he would have performed it? Would he of heard it?
Beautifully played! Lovely, dense orchestral touch and magisterial interpretation. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely breathtaking
Beautiful interpretation.
Bravo !
I like the pianist who plays bass louder and more ,💙💙💙

Exactly. And it teaches us that most piano pieces should be played in the same orchestral fashion where we are the conductor.

Is the sheet music for this piano adaptation available anywhere?
Vripiat Buzoi. It is widely available. My edition is from Dover Publications Inc, of Mineola, New York. ISBN 0-486-40114-6.
Certainly, it's widely published.

There are 5 B's: Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Beatles, and (Kate) Bush.
from a technical standpoint, how hard to play is this piece?
Like anywhere between insanely hard to impossibly hard :))
You should be able to play some Beethoven sonatas if you want to tackle this piece reasonably.

The Liszt transcription?

Known as "The Pastoral Symphony".

I loved the interpretation but the record quality was terrible, seems you played inside a pipe...
for a non-professional recording i think this is actually surprisingly good audio quality
Does he have a CD? Such spot-on timing and dynamics. Would love to get my hands on a studio recording.
