- I thought I could do with a smaller foamy for light wind sloping, so I bought a Dream Flight Weasel.
Totally easy to assemble, and trim, but make sure you set a decent Dual Rate value (40% on my model).
This maiden was "Interesting" to start with, and dramatic at it's end.
All good though, everything is still intact, and ready to fly again.

I had a version 1 weasel..loved it, wish i had kept it really..but we can say that about ALL our planes..
Was your V1 a crazy price?
I need to say, Dream Flight pricing could induce nightmares instead!
@@jo2lovid I don't think it was too bad...long time ago....but yea haven't been on dreamflight website for ages
Just got mine, thanks for the ummm, confidence?!😂😂
LOL! The Weasal is a great wee bird, and it flies well in both light and heavier winds.
You will love it, once you set the dual rates and make sure the COG is in the right spot.
Have a blast, and put up some vids!
Try to move the CG 2 mm more forward next time, with the 40 % expo on elevator and 50 % on the ailerons and then it will fly like it is on rails 😀
I'll give that a try Soren. I did like how responsive the Weasel flew, but it definitely needs the dual rate on a windy slope.😂
Nice to see the quarry Jo 😁
Not an ideal LZ, but when needs must!
The weasel flew MUCH better with some dual rates.😁
That's cool, I'd like to try slope soaring.
Slope soaring is a total adrenaline rush. Perhaps start with a pusher glider (like the AXN).
It's a total blast when you are in some big air locations.
@@jo2lovid I have a phoenix evolution tw-742-v with a folding prop. I need to put it together, poor thing has been in the box for three years.
I have the 2.6 / 1.6 Evo as well.
It just fits in the car fully assembled.
I use the Phoenix Evo on light wind days on the slope, as it's perfectly able to grab any lift, and power out of areas with no lift.
It'd the perfect 'First sloper' model to get your fingers used to slope soaring.
Once your all good on the slope, you can pretty much fly anything at the park, if there is a breeze blowing.
@@jo2lovid Right on 🤠
I could not have done better with a maiden in that kind of wind with that small a plane Joanne! Great flying and rolls! She doesn't look like she weighs more than a sheet of paper! I have yet, not found a plane that I can't fly inverted! HaHaHaHaaa. Winter is coming in now and it looks like it's going to be a long and cold one. Usually runs all the way into March. I haven't been able to get out and fly much with so much work to do on the property and houses. Maybe one day. We have changed my chemo up to a stronger, longer infusion treatment. We will check in 3 months with another MRI to see if it's working. I just leave it in God's hand.
Inverted flight is cool. Did you ever watch my AXN low and slow vid?
It's warming up here, we had 25C this last weekend. Then today a southerly came through with lightning and thunder!
Not sure what your chemo is for, but hope it goes well.
Hugs. 🤗
@@jo2lovid My chemo is for Renal cancer that came back from 2011. We found it growing in my skull above my left eye. Surgery removed it in 8-21. Been on chemo ever since. My fifth major battle with cancer but doing pretty good for an old man! 🥴
Awesome! The weasel is definitely a CG sensitive wing. I add an oz ballast to mine if it's windy and fly no expo with full throw. I love the Weasel! Subbed and belled.
Thanks Alistair, I initally bought the Weasel for low wind flying, but it turned out to be fun in a good breeze as well! 😍
Mental. As. Anything. How did you all avoid each other? 😄 One great, but crazy maiden flight 👍
Guess that's part of the fun. You do need a good sense of 'situational awareness' when flying on the slope.
Unless you're flying combat mode. Then all bets are off!
@@jo2lovid 😁
It launches much better javelin style there is a finger sloti the bellymade jusr for that and add some packaging tape to leadind edge.
My initial problem was with the full rates on the control surfaces. Once I reduced these, the Weasel flew pretty well.
I'm used to DLG type launches for wings, so am now stuck in the rut with that method for getting the Weasel into the air. I've not had problems since setting the rates.
Also, I'm trying to avoid adding extra weight into the model. I'd prefer using it in light wind, so adding weight extra weight is a concern. I've managed to avoid damage to the leading edge of the wing so far. 🤩
