He is asked questions in sentences and he replies in sentences. No trouble with any letters. He will start by answering , This is a …… whatever it is. He can also catagorize objects. For example Dalton , his dad can show him a bowl. Apollo can say it is a bowl. What is this made of? Apollo will say it is made of glass. Dalton will take this bowl and turn it over and put it over his head? What is this? Apollo will say it is a hat. Dalton used Dr. Pepperberg’s way of training Alex. I know how this was done. It is not hard but you have to have a smart bird that loves to learn. Smurfy is very smart. She can do this. On the funny side , Dalton brought in different kinds of bugs and taught Apollo the word big. One day Apollo was shown a shrimp and asked by Dalton what this was. Apollo never saw a shrimp before. Apollo catagorized this as a bug. I have not been able to eat shrimp since. I do not eat bugs. Dalton and wife live in Florida in USA. They also have 2 adorable and smart Caiques which have learned to do some tasks also. I have trouble telling these Caique sisters apart but Apollo can identify which is which. Greys are brilliant. Maybe you can teach Smurfy to identify his mug. What is this , Smurf, She can answer This is my mug. Give her a treat when she answers correctly . Tell her in advance she will get a treat for answering correctly. Make this a game. Have patience. She will learn.

I miss her so much, when I ran across your channel, smurfy reminded me a lot of her. If I had the window open she would be naughty and whistle for the dogs and watch them as the ran back toward the house to see who was there, looking around confused when they didn't see a human!😄

Glad I’m not the only idiot! But, my smart TV, clearly far too sophisticated for me “I reckon,” 😉 keeps asking me to sync up my devices so that I can watch on TV and comment from my phone at the same time. I have a headache from just typing that!😅 No doubt Justice could probably figure it out…but not me.
Nige, We need bumper stickers: “I wish I was as smart as my parrot.” If we got all these Grays together, they would rule the world! I had a Goffins Cockatoo who whittled a “key” out of a 2 inch x 4 foot piece of wood -his favorite chew toy(!) and opened the padlock on his cage! Then we replaced that with a combination lock and after two weeks, he opened that! Amazing creatures. (We always locked his cage when we would be out for several hours for fear of theft-exotic birds are big money in Hawaii, where I lived with my veterinarian husband at the time.)
Awe shes such a cutie! We have 2 Greys, & they’re such fun characters! Definitely won’t do anything unless it’s on their terms lol …(& oh ya, we agree with not watching the news!!💯🤣)

Maybe you can teach Smurfy to identify his mug. What is this , Smurf, She can answer This is my mug. Give her a treat when she answers correctly . Tell her in advance she will get a treat for answering correctly. Make this a game. Have patience. She will learn.

I miss her so much, when I ran across your channel, smurfy reminded me a lot of her. If I had the window open she would be naughty and whistle for the dogs and watch them as the ran back toward the house to see who was there, looking around confused when they didn't see a human!😄

Glad I’m not the only idiot! But, my smart TV, clearly far too sophisticated for me “I reckon,” 😉 keeps asking me to sync up my devices so that I can watch on TV and comment from my phone at the same time. I have a headache from just typing that!😅 No doubt Justice could probably figure it out…but not me.

I had a Goffins Cockatoo who whittled a “key” out of a 2 inch x 4 foot piece of wood -his favorite chew toy(!) and opened the padlock on his cage! Then we replaced that with a combination lock and after two weeks, he opened that!
Amazing creatures. (We always locked his cage when we would be out for several hours for fear of theft-exotic birds are big money in Hawaii, where I lived with my veterinarian husband at the time.)
