I was never a fan of the "levels" idea, I've found the concept of it being in an altered dreamlike state far more fascinating, a state many people would enter at one point or another, but forget it even happened, liminal spaces in general feel quite special to me, as I find myself in them while dreaming quite often, so you could say the general liminal spaces are the first step in dreaming, and if you really push it, or are just really unlucky, you can end up in the backrooms, a place that's dangerous even while dreaming... i've been working on a backrooms game since 2019 using this concept, if anyone is curious at all, i go by oldays studios on itchio, its far from finished but i hope it's something people can appriciate whenever it comes out... a lot of it is based on the locations i find myself in dreams so it's quite surreal seeing it all layed out.
I like your take on the concept! It's different than what I normally see and it actually makes sense. A lot of the times when it comes to the backrooms, people will say things that are rather nonsensical. I'm definitely interested in your game however. I might check it out sometime soon
im more of a level in backrooms person there something about infinite levels what will never end there no hope to exit the backrooms, but % to die is high but people who explore it make it posible to survive in there i find this very faciniting, like "unused stuff what were put here by..."

i think its cool that i found a channel that covers liminal spaces! I got into the idea of liminal spaces and like oddly familiar images type stuff about a year ago and I remember going straight to youtube to try and find people talking about it but literally nobody was talking about it (even with it being kind of prevalent on tik tok). All there was were people playing the backrooms video games and odd compilations and stuff. I'm so glad to see more people talk about these strange images! i find the feelings that they provoke so fascinating.
i was in a coma from the ages of 3-5 for a completely unknown reason (we still don’t know n it’s been 11 years) i remember it very vividly. and it was like this. when i first got there, i realised i was a lot older that i actually was, i was in my 20s when i looked in a mirror and i knew that i wasn’t meant to be that age, i was only 3 i didn’t understand how i’d gone from 3 to 20-something in seconds. then i realised i was completely alone and in a series of rooms exactly like the original backrooms post. after wondering for a while i came across a key hanging from a fan on the ceiling and a chair in the corner. i climbed on the chair and grabbed the key; then continued, a few ‘minutes’ later i found a door and unlocked it. the second i went through it slammed behind me and then disappeared, i figured i needed to find another key so i actively started looking (this place looked like an old arcade, which is weird, as i was 3 and had never been to an arcade) i remember playing the claw machine and getting the key out of there. the door turned out to be in arcade game. this went on, with 100s of ‘levels’ for what felt like 3 weeks-ish. i woke up and it had been 2 years and i was 5, like i should have been but i understood what happened? it’s confusing and even i don’t get it. what happened, y was i in a coma and where was i. because on some of those ‘levels’ i definitely wasn’t alone. what’s even weirder is a few months ago (bare in mind, i’d never told anyone about this) my mum said, “it was almost like your soul left your body and you got sucked into another world” that’s when i started looking into things like this lol sorry if this is badly written its late lololololol
Personally, I've always been more of my own personal interpretation of playing a game like gmod, no clipping out of bounds and finding a room, that being the backrooms. The name also brings back images of the employee only sections of places like dollar general in my hometown. The look of the backrooms reminds me of a building next to the graveyard in the same town. Liminal spaces call back old memories but are just off. I've had dreams of places that don't exist but I recognize. Sometimes I go back to them. That is what these images do for me

i've always thought of the backrooms as a different world, universe even, yet intertwined with the very farbric of our reality. the idea has always intrigued me and i feel that the possibilities are endless, and while it has, in my opinion, surpassed that liminal feeling, it has continued to sprout and grow a great community for the backrooms themselves and liminal spaces as a whole. the backrooms eventually led me to this channel; i'm glad they did, i'm loving this content and i hope to see you hit that 1k milestone! great video as always, favorite part's gotta be that mic falling at the end! keep pushing forward, and take care, man!

"My own" Backrooms are a hospital with light-blue walls covered in red and yellow dots. Ive been there many times in dreams for some reason. I remember green chains hanging from the ceiling and glass doors separating the hallways into different parts. The most realistic experience that I had with these backrooms was when I was 3. I had to get an operation in my stomach and had to swallow a tranquilizer-pill. After I woke up, I was alone in the OP-room and then went outside. The walls were blue now, with yellow and red dots painted on it. The weirdest part was that there were Windows and I could look outside. There was a gigantic amount of plants outside, like the Hospital was in a jungle. Then I woke up. Apparently, it was a dream I had during the operation. The weird part is, that I had about 15 dreams where I returned to this location. To complete my story: My theory is, that every person has a dream with a randomly generated paranormal but still realistic enviorment. This specific dream is then saved in the sunconciousness of the person and can be recalled randomly.
the original backrooms image reminds me of when i had to walk through my parent's church's basement in the dark. you know there's probably nothing out of the ordinary but you can't stop yourself from peeking behind your shoulder or hesitating before rounding a corner

The idea of the Backrooms reminds me a little bit of this one indie horror game that came out close to a decade ago called Vanish, where you are in a dark sewer and the map randomly generates both ahead of you *and* behind you. I guess the seemingly random and infinite nature of this reminded me of those parallel features.
The backrooms is like when you're trying to sleep and your body does that thing where you just fall - Also, I have such a strange vivid memory from when I was on vacation years ago.. there was like this restroom that we needed to get to but it was just a few long old white hallways with worn out lights that flickered lightly. Gave me chills. Now I wonder if it actually happened..
I would like to believe that if there were entities in the backrooms, you would only see them in your peripheral vision. You turn to look at what you think you saw and nothing was there. This would make you anxious and lonely and feel like you’re going insane and you don’t know what’s real and what’s all in your mind and I love it
I just wanted to comment on your new(?) video intro with the darkened spaces and the totally random placement of the words "Don't Do it". It is seriously creepy and I love it! It reminds me of a haunted house I used to work with where they went for a more psychological approach with an emphasis on random weirdness. Good work!

Man, hearing -children- people having discussions about the "levels" of the backrooms and going into detail about what they are and how to make your way through them really brings me back to being a kid. I miss it.
liminal space feels calming and familiar...like a memory that we can't pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. People say it's like dreams too, well if you think about it, when you are little, our memories are cut down to a very simple form, because we can't remember them, they are filled in with liminal space. Like if U have a memory of playing hide and seek...you remember yourself running around ur house only seeing liminal space because U can't comprehend every detail. Same in dreams, our brains can't create something so realistic...so everything is just simple.
The way you explain the backrooms gives a certain charisma, your surroundings you can tell don't feel right, everything down to human life has gone silent, and the places that surround you feel almost generated.

I find this very fascinating, and somewhat creepy as well, haha, but very interesting. I've had weird dreams in the past where I am stuck in an old house, and almost everything is antique as well, from the furniture to the carpet etc. In these dreams there's extreme opposites, there is either an empty room, or a completely cluttered one, like, uncomfortably cluttered, or there is a giant soft toy like a teddy bear, just sitting in the middle of the room, and everything smells stale and like old wallpaper. Also, of the few people that are in these dreams, they're usually not made of skin, but either like a doll, or a mannequin, and almost devoid of emotion. They're definitely not aesthetically pleasing dreams, and just thinking about these almost fever dreams makes me feel uncomfortable, lol. I haven't had a dream like this in ages, and rewriting this and rereading, I'm like, wtf was I on when dreaming these? lol. I guess this video kinda reminded me of that, and I find the whole subconscious mind very interesting as well.
Reminds me of my dreams, I would constantly keep running forward never stopping. I would only slow down whenever something bad happens, but I would never stop. I would literary jump into the sea and fight a shark, lion, and alligator under water and i would keep moving forward. I would run through continents and sea, dreaming felt like moths to years. I would only stop dreaming once i arrive at a place ive been in before.

i remember just scrolling through reddit and finding the backrooms image. i thought it was interesting, so i looked it up on the web, and i will never forget what i saw. mind you, this was back in 2019. shookey did an amazing job explaining the backrooms. shoutout to shookey! the 4/chan post clearly inspired the 2021 trend of liminal spaces. i remember when stuff like this didn't even exist. but with the backrooms, this idea is that you can glitch out of reality, that is only theoretical. scps are very similar, but maybe a little more famous. sometimes i do feel like they could go hand in hand. very interesting…

All my dreams are set I'm areas like this, normally massive run down sports changing rooms or derelict bathrooms. Thats why liminal spaces give me anxiety but hope that I'm not alone. If that makes sense?

Ngl the backrooms without levels is the best version of the backrooms there is. The horror is less a monster and more the setting of a maze of monotone liminal spaces, mundane horror, repetition into infinity, and lonliness. Get comfortable,.because you are permanently alone and cut off from the world you once knew.
My first thought on the back rooms was that when you step through the doorway something jump at you and kill you the figure I imagined was a 6 foot tall Minney mouse costume torn up with stuffing coming out of its cheek it was really dusty too and very disturbing and that was my first thought
actually, there's a third "new" wiki that a lot of people from the other wikis have moved onto (here's the link: liminal-archives.wikidot.com/ ). the biggest difference of this to the other wikis is that it's not just about the backrooms. instead, the backrooms is just a liminal space (limspace for short), just one of out many. the other liminal spaces include the domed spaces, eg the domed forest, which connects to the backrooms, the crimson system (one of the biggest), and the midenground. these places aren't levels, they are dimensions similar to the backrooms that just so happen to connect to them. it's a new development, and a really interesting one!
This is personally my favorite wiki; it balances the idea of the unknown while still incorporating levels and dimensions in a clever way. I especially like the very obscure secret levels, and how they give a sense of “something else out there” without it being too detailed and explained. Props to the Liminal-Archives team for sure.
hmm seems many people claim to have dreams about the backrooms. i myself never had these dreams however I had dreams were i was either running or floating(as in levitating) deeper and deeper into this dark forest! sometimes ill be floating down a little stream too. one time I did end up in what I assumed was another dimension! for some reason something draws me into the forest. however the closest i got to an an actual "backroom" dream is this other repetitive dream where im in a Wal-mart or Target. and im always standing by these 3 aisles towards the back of the store. im always drawn to them too. each time i have this dream the aisles have the same products too. a mix of those generic toys you might see at a souvenir shop or hospital gift shop,knick knacks,craft supplies,etc. on occasion the toy aisle will upgrade to your typical department store toy aisle. both of these dreams repeat and are weird.

I had a dream the other night. It related to the concept of “back rooms”. It was weird, I was inside a familiar department store, however it was unfamiliar at the same time. I boarded an elevator, and a woman who works there in real life was operating the elevator in the dream. As I left the elevator they waived at me and they then faded into the darkness. Weird dream.
It's not even possible to truly leave. If you are in the backrooms, then end up "back in the real world," you will not truly be back.. there is no coming back..
I hate how idiots on the internet always manage to screw up something so perfect. The back rooms as the original 4chan post was so incredibly creepy since there was next to no information about it. It just felt, weird. Then some absolute goblins thought it would be a great idea to add different levels and weird animals.

I think the backrooms can look like anything. Its part of the alternate reality of the dreamscape. Pictures of liminal spaces are the backrooms, the person taking the pictures own version that is anyway. For me I ALWAYS have dreams about this large neon mall that's giant and endless. There's deformed women and creatures the more you walk down into the darker areas, and there's one entity they are all afraid of. It has no name, it is invisible, but from what I've been told, "he" is the ruler there. Sometimes I'll be lucid and I still can't alter or leave the dream. The only way I wake up is when the invisible man starts chasing me. I can't see him but I always know when he's there. All of what I'm saying actually happened in multiple dreams of mine, im actually planning to make a comic eventually out of it. Idk if I'll ever go public with it, but I feel like I have to make this into one.

And occasionally I'll see a tall black figure that peaks out from the rooms. Its very Strange and even though I'm awake, sometimes it feels like I'm actually there
I like to imagine the Backrooms as some sort of giant "rat maze" developed by an extraterrestrial race to test humanity. Other times the 'rooms are a surreal entity with a taste for human flesh and intellect.
For me personally the backrooms are like a kind of trash can where irregularities and errors are sent so that they do not affect the flow of the universe, That is why most of the levels are chaotic, others stable with errors and "bugs" and others directly nightmares where dying is practically assured.

I would like to believe that if there were entities in the backrooms, you would only see them in your peripheral vision. You turn to look at what you think you saw and nothing was there. This would make you anxious and lonely and feel like you’re going insane and you don’t know what’s real and what’s all in your mind and I love it

I just wanted to comment on your new(?) video intro with the darkened spaces and the totally random placement of the words "Don't Do it". It is seriously creepy and I love it! It reminds me of a haunted house I used to work with where they went for a more psychological approach with an emphasis on random weirdness. Good work!

liminal space feels calming and familiar...like a memory that we can't pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. People say it's like dreams too, well if you think about it, when you are little, our memories are cut down to a very simple form, because we can't remember them, they are filled in with liminal space. Like if U have a memory of playing hide and seek...you remember yourself running around ur house only seeing liminal space because U can't comprehend every detail. Same in dreams, our brains can't create something so realistic...so everything is just simple.

I find this very fascinating, and somewhat creepy as well, haha, but very interesting.
I've had weird dreams in the past where I am stuck in an old house, and almost everything is antique as well, from the furniture to the carpet etc.
In these dreams there's extreme opposites, there is either an empty room, or a completely cluttered one, like, uncomfortably cluttered, or there is a giant soft toy like a teddy bear, just sitting in the middle of the room, and everything smells stale and like old wallpaper. Also, of the few people that are in these dreams, they're usually not made of skin, but either like a doll, or a mannequin, and almost devoid of emotion. They're definitely not aesthetically pleasing dreams, and just thinking about these almost fever dreams makes me feel uncomfortable, lol.
I haven't had a dream like this in ages, and rewriting this and rereading, I'm like, wtf was I on when dreaming these? lol. I guess this video kinda reminded me of that, and I find the whole subconscious mind very interesting as well.
Why do I always watch these kinds of videos when I get ready to sleep 😂

Reminds me of my dreams, I would constantly keep running forward never stopping.
I would only slow down whenever something bad happens, but I would never stop. I would literary jump into the sea and fight a shark, lion, and alligator under water and i would keep moving forward.
I would run through continents and sea, dreaming felt like moths to years. I would only stop dreaming once i arrive at a place ive been in before.
That sounds so cool and so scary at the same time

i remember just scrolling through reddit and finding the backrooms image. i thought it was interesting, so i looked it up on the web, and i will never forget what i saw. mind you, this was back in 2019. shookey did an amazing job explaining the backrooms. shoutout to shookey! the 4/chan post clearly inspired the 2021 trend of liminal spaces. i remember when stuff like this didn't even exist. but with the backrooms, this idea is that you can glitch out of reality, that is only theoretical. scps are very similar, but maybe a little more famous. sometimes i do feel like they could go hand in hand. very interesting…

All my dreams are set I'm areas like this, normally massive run down sports changing rooms or derelict bathrooms. Thats why liminal spaces give me anxiety but hope that I'm not alone. If that makes sense?

An Unconfirmed level doesn’t mean that the level might not exist, it means that that information is high but they can’t tell all of what’s in the levels and confirmed levels are the levels we know about the most

Ngl the backrooms without levels is the best version of the backrooms there is. The horror is less a monster and more the setting of a maze of monotone liminal spaces, mundane horror, repetition into infinity, and lonliness. Get comfortable,.because you are permanently alone and cut off from the world you once knew.

My first thought on the back rooms was that when you step through the doorway something jump at you and kill you the figure I imagined was a 6 foot tall Minney mouse costume torn up with stuffing coming out of its cheek it was really dusty too and very disturbing and that was my first thought

actually, there's a third "new" wiki that a lot of people from the other wikis have moved onto (here's the link: liminal-archives.wikidot.com/ ). the biggest difference of this to the other wikis is that it's not just about the backrooms. instead, the backrooms is just a liminal space (limspace for short), just one of out many. the other liminal spaces include the domed spaces, eg the domed forest, which connects to the backrooms, the crimson system (one of the biggest), and the midenground. these places aren't levels, they are dimensions similar to the backrooms that just so happen to connect to them. it's a new development, and a really interesting one!
This is personally my favorite wiki; it balances the idea of the unknown while still incorporating levels and dimensions in a clever way. I especially like the very obscure secret levels, and how they give a sense of “something else out there” without it being too detailed and explained. Props to the Liminal-Archives team for sure.

hmm seems many people claim to have dreams about the backrooms. i myself never had these dreams however I had dreams were i was either running or floating(as in levitating) deeper and deeper into this dark forest! sometimes ill be floating down a little stream too. one time I did end up in what I assumed was another dimension! for some reason something draws me into the forest. however the closest i got to an an actual "backroom" dream is this other repetitive dream where im in a Wal-mart or Target. and im always standing by these 3 aisles towards the back of the store. im always drawn to them too. each time i have this dream the aisles have the same products too. a mix of those generic toys you might see at a souvenir shop or hospital gift shop,knick knacks,craft supplies,etc. on occasion the toy aisle will upgrade to your typical department store toy aisle. both of these dreams repeat and are weird.

liminal space is so oddly nostalgic although i haven't even been to them, and don't live in the country where they were taken.
I had a dream the other night. It related to the concept of “back rooms”. It was weird, I was inside a familiar department store, however it was unfamiliar at the same time. I boarded an elevator, and a woman who works there in real life was operating the elevator in the dream. As I left the elevator they waived at me and they then faded into the darkness. Weird dream.

I hate how idiots on the internet always manage to screw up something so perfect. The back rooms as the original 4chan post was so incredibly creepy since there was next to no information about it. It just felt, weird.
Then some absolute goblins thought it would be a great idea to add different levels and weird animals.
I used to agree but I like to let the kids have their fun. I was just once and clearly u were too by ur pfp. Creepypastas aren't big anymore so this is the next best thing for the younger generations
I think the backrooms can look like anything. Its part of the alternate reality of the dreamscape. Pictures of liminal spaces are the backrooms, the person taking the pictures own version that is anyway. For me I ALWAYS have dreams about this large neon mall that's giant and endless. There's deformed women and creatures the more you walk down into the darker areas, and there's one entity they are all afraid of. It has no name, it is invisible, but from what I've been told, "he" is the ruler there. Sometimes I'll be lucid and I still can't alter or leave the dream. The only way I wake up is when the invisible man starts chasing me. I can't see him but I always know when he's there. All of what I'm saying actually happened in multiple dreams of mine, im actually planning to make a comic eventually out of it. Idk if I'll ever go public with it, but I feel like I have to make this into one.

For me personally the backrooms are like a kind of trash can where irregularities and errors are sent so that they do not affect the flow of the universe, That is why most of the levels are chaotic, others stable with errors and "bugs" and others directly nightmares where dying is practically assured.
