    He should consider Stacy Augmon as one of his assistant coaches

    This is a financial move to be honest, because coaching college basketball is much different than high school so it will take years for him to rebuild that program but this move is one of the best financial moves Memphis has done, he will bring back the glory days, as far as filling the seats goes. But as far as winning let's be patient

    Unfortunately, this is probably a gimmick. Memphis just wants him to recruit Wiseman (#1 player in the country & his high school player). Once Wiseman comes in & leaves to the NBA, they will give him another 2 years & then "part ways" with him like the situation with Kevin Ollie at uconn. I hope this isn't the case but the look of it just doesn't seem right.

      Kevin ollie didnt accomplish shit after he won the ship with napier and boatwright. In college u gotta be able to recruit....look at tubby....nobody wanted to play for him....kevin ollie inherited that team from calhoun.....keep that in mind

    I think penny will be a good recruiter but can he coach???? Thank God the AAC is trash right now

    • @FinestOfTheSouth
      @FinestOfTheSouth 6 лет назад +2

      MIGGYME1 Basketball is basketball. The man has 3 state championships as a middle school coach, 3 state championships in a row as a high school coach, coaching some of the top talent in the country. Successful and dynamic coaching in the Nike EYBL AAU circuit, which in many aspects is played at a much higher level than most collegiate basketball programs. Can he coach? Simply put: YES!

    • @MIGGYME1
      @MIGGYME1 6 лет назад

      NoirSimmer basketball is basketball but its LEVELS to the shit. I certainly hope you arent implying that coaching college will be the same as coaching high school.........cuz that would be very very sad. Coaching high school basketball is not a business,show me a article or something about a high school bball coach getting fired because of lack of wins or because "he wasnt a right fit".......ill wait. Not taking anything away from penny.....HE IS MEMPHIS! But i just don't want this city to put all this pressure on the man and expect him to be the black calipari. I think he will be good but its definitely gonna take time

    • @brother_Tennessee
      @brother_Tennessee 6 лет назад

      MIGGYME1 I agree

    • @FinestOfTheSouth
      @FinestOfTheSouth 6 лет назад

      MIGGYME1 you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. Based on x’s and o’s, Penny Hardaway is fine and he can coach that level of talent. The only thing he would need help with is the day-to-day duties of running a college basketball program. Compliance rules, APR, making sure they go to class and keep their grades in good standing, etc. Asking if the man can coach was a ludicrous question because the answer is obvious: YES.

    • @FinestOfTheSouth
      @FinestOfTheSouth 6 лет назад

      MIGGYME1 And I’ll show you a coach that got fired because he “wasn’t a right fit” ... Tubby Smith. Not takin anything away from him. Dude could flat out coach and runs a program well. But he wasn’t a good fit for the Memphis basketball program. The Memphis basketball Head Coach position is a different job than most coaching positions on other campuses. That’s the reality. Calipari stated that himself during his last interview while as Memphis’ Head Coach. Penny Hardaway is the right guy for this job.
