I was actually on this route to the white desert on my first playthrough of the game since I slept in the dream world and went to the mall. I gave up at the dark section and woke up since it was hard and confusing to navigate without the lamp effect. When I came back to this route later on, thinking it'd lead to something important, I was pretty disappointed to see that it was just another route to the white desert.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've been in this very specific room. It's definitely one of the most eerie though. Corny as it sounds, it's like a more visceral interpretation of Madotsuki's isolation. Also, those "tendrils" on the wall that writhe when you interact with them are too suggestive. It's no coincidence of what they resemble given how much uncomfortable subtext and imagery of a sexual nature already exists in Yume Nikki. The fact that Yume Nikki can be interpreted in many layers while none of the characters say anything makes it one of my fav games off all time and one of my favorite pieces of art, period.
... maybe I'm wrong for interpreting the things hanging on the wall reacting to the cat effect iirc as a cat allergy and runny noses lol. But then again, there is no right or wrong answer here.

ayyy i made the map at 2:27! kinda silly but there were literally zero maps of the FC dungeon online so I had to make one from scratch by digging through the Yume Nikki files, taking screenshots, etc. still kinda proud of myself lol
If you don't mind me asking, could you elaborate a little on the process behind it? Did you use the built in map viewer in RPGMaker 2k/2k3 or some other tool like that? I'd love to make some maps for some of the pages in 2kki wiki, and a few fangames and it'd be a huge help knowing how you did it!
@@L0V3V4MP1R3 you could probably do it in a more simpler way by opening the maps with RPG Maker Studio, but i decided to take the extra time to screenshot every single frame, stitch them together and then connect them with lines lol

for me, the white desert is the area i immediately think of when i think of yume nikki. you described its appeal perfectly, it's got a perfect ambiance and art style that just conveys discomfort in an oddly compelling way also my first time playing (literally the first time i'd successfully booted up the game) i was somehow lucky enough to get the tako-fuusen event, that was kinda nuts

I found this place completely on accident when exploring. I was in the place where corpse guy was then I walked upward and then I found this red tentacle thing and I interacted with him. Then I was teleported to a place with two of them I used the taller one and now I’m here
Seeing this after playing 2kki makes me realize how small the original is in comparison. Which is not a bad thing at all, it’s just jarring to remember a time when finding a deep area didn’t require at least half an hour with intense wiki searching lmao
Even after all these years later the community for this game is still actively caring for it and creating fan games and just talking about the topic of the game and keeping it alive and that honestly just makes me so happy to see it. ♥️

I played this over 10 years ago before it was on Steam, I remember this room. There are a few different versions with minor differences, so maybe you didn't play the final version.
I actually managed to get in there finally, the mistake I made was getting into the corridor/passage like thing too soon, which would teleport me back to the White dessert A without realizing. My bad but I am happy I got it at last

No when you kill the dude in desert A them two paths open up, one which leads to a dark version of white desert A with the black haired smiling girl and one with a long white path with body parts sticking out of the ground
