Although this hymn appears to have originated in the US or England, I always thought it had a strongly Celtic sound to it. That may be part of why I love it so much, as well as the fact that I'm an American of primarily Celtic/Gaelic ancestry. May the peace of Christ be with you always.
Remind me few years ago on my way home from work. I was learning to sing this song. English is my second languages. I was tears! God bless your work, and the one that listen to this song!
'Celtic' is the technical term for this style of music. This is one of several hymns that are based on Irish melodies. Unless there is a negative connotation to the term 'celtic' that I don't know about...
England lost some of its luster when its defenders like you forgot how to spell English words. And the United States is in even worse shape; a near total loss. Oh, and by the way, in medieval England there were lots of Celts. Ever heard of Cornwall? Or Wales?
Sorry Wales isnt England. The UK consists of England , Scotland Wales and N. Ireland. Cornwall us part of England though celtic as is Brittany in France. There are connections. K

I agree. It reminds me of "Be Thou My Vision" which is originally a Celtic Hymn
