Despite it not being the "Holy Grail" colour, I kind of prefer the way it looks in the thumbnail in bare metal with a "dark green" roof, even if I know the green is really just a reflection.
swapping_parts here... You weren't kidding about those axels!! All that aside it turned out great!! It was fun to see the work getting done and I look forward to displaying it... as well as getting right on some new axles. lol Thank you so much!!

Great video! This might be a kit I will try to build! I would love to see you paint the second kit, but make it super detailed with headlights etc. Even painting the surfboards on the second kit might be fun too!

It’s funny to me how this pink Volkswagen bus garners so much money for its sheer rareness-but that’s collectibles for you. You did an awesome job on the paint! I don’t like pink cars, and I’m not a big fan of VWs, but you did a fine job that I think would hold up to the real rare prototype one. It’s definitely worth getting better axles though for the time you put into it for a proper ride.
Beautiful work. You must've developed steady hands over the years since you can drill and tap free-handed. I drink too much coffee to do that.
Great video. Have you ever had a look inside of a Tomica car? I would like to see how the suspension and doors on them work. A particular favorite of mine is the Initial D AE86 (either version), and the other Initial D cars are great, too. There's also a Godzilla car (not the R32) which looks completely ridiculous.

Thanks for the video and the info on where to buy them. I plan on doing one for my son for a birthday present. I'll be using Testor's transparent colors. I might make a 2-tone, half chrome and some other color for me.
The video was too short. I wished you had discussed or reviewed the window piece and the interior...these "you build 'em" kits are all over eBay and the web, so taking a few more seconds to rate the quality of these repro parts would've been appreciated, but overall, you did a good job.

from the stories i have herd over the years the kit isn't left over parts but they were recasted from side loaders. Bright vision made a few of them they would buy original side loaders to get the parts. Also another brand did the same thing calming they were real while BV made slight changes to the base to help point out it was a kit.

The original rear loaders didn't have the slots inside on the interior for the boards to slide in. That's why they fell out so easily and the pink prototype had the side loader base with the raised square on the middle of the base.

I have a favor to ask, I have a fire bird that is in bad shape it has a broken rear window and has major paint chipping and the wheels that's a nother story could you restore it

Regarding taps, I wonder if a smaller tap holder would be more suited for you? Something like the Starret 174 Tap Wrench in size, not saying that Starret is the way to go (pricey!) but similar style and size may be beneficial to get more feel from smaller tap sizes. Love the vids, I enjoy seeing them pop up in my subscription feed :)
Also, would the boards from this fit the Deora better than the ones you have?
I keep meaning to just make myself a tap wrench... I have a lathe and milling machine... it would only take a few minuets...procrastination gets me every time... yes these boards do fit the Deora better.

@baremetalHW Cool. I'd love a metal lathe and a mill, I can't afford such luxuries though. I have a wood lathe thus far, that keeps me busy when projects come up, and yes procrastination is real.
I use a handle from a 2mm hex driver for radio control cars. Works perfectly.

I reckon you should have done a 2 tone pink paint job with a silver lining? Light pink on top, thin silver line (1mm) then a darker pink below. Great video as always t
Just received this kit, and yes, the axles feel cheap, the chrome need to be polished, it has some imperfections as the seller described on ebay. And just need to tap the posts and I'm done.

Just got one of these - it's a knock-off of a replica of a Hot Wheels car, which I find hilarious.
What the seller means by 'old inventory' is probably old BrightVision inventory from 2001, that is false though, because I believe this was a knockoff of the BV Beach Bomb kit from China. This kit is definitely worth the $20, I have one painted in Ice Blue, and is so far very good. But yeah, the only downside is the axles, which I want to replace on mine.

Have you tried using lubricants when tapping? I'm in my 3rd machinist class and it makes it easier to do so
turned out gorgeous. you have a Chinese knock off of a bright vision version. it's know as a SAL. Sloppy ass loader. you can tell the Chinese version because the spelled foreign wrong. I love and appreciate all your vids. keep it up.

Hey baremwtalhw! I was cleaning out my room the other day and I found a box of my old Hot Wheels, there's were a few interesting cars in there that could use a little tlc. One in particular, a 1969 redline Little Demon would make a pretty good video. If you're interested dm me and we can figure it out.
You're right, it's not old stock - I just bought one myself and it has typos on the base: FDREIGN PAT. and MATTEL ING. But I guess this makes it a knock-off of a replica of a prototype of a toy car, which I find quite amusing

Its a Chinese knockoff of a better kit done years ago. They took a good kit and sent it to China to be mass produced. You can tell by the "FOREIGN" on the base actually saying "FDREIGN" and the lack of crispness in the details. There's a link off the Brightvision wheels site describing this.
Not to mention "Matteling" as opposed to "Mattel Inc."

idk if you may be interested, but i just got a matchbox citroen 3m n°51 from superfast series with a missin door and a missin paint, it also has a broken suspension (front right) and the door wont close correctly, i wanna restore it but i cant or idk how, if you got tips ill listen or i'll just gift it to you if it turns out too hard to do it

I'm love the result. However I feel like I should point out that Bruce's pink rl beach bomb is hot pink, not creamy pink. The redline shop creamy pink is very similar though. Also, nos of what? That appears to be just a mediocre quality kit of a rl beach bomb. Great build nonetheless!

Have a couple kits myself . unfortunately the redlines in both kits are too big for the axle bearings . lol 40 bucks and I can't even put them together with the parts it came with .

I was disappointed to see the quality of the replacement torsion bar axles. I've been restoring a HW Mercedes-Benz 280SL that had damaged torsion bar axles; I bought some replacement axles from an EBay vendor from the Dakotas (North or South, can't recall) but they are also of poor quality as the axles are far too long. Do you - or anyone else who may read this - know of a quality source for replacement torsion bar axles?
