I fear projects like this not because of their difficulty but I am so bad with plumbing that I end up needing to go for supplies multiple times to get the right fittings and in the correct size... just like how you ran into the unexpected issue with the original supply being 1 inch and you expected 3/4 inch. Then I have to go find the right fittings somewhere to nicely go from 1 inch that downsizes to 3/4 and when I want to get the project done.. now it takes chasing down a specialized fitting. That is the only good part about hiring it done... pro usually has the fittings on-hand. This video gives me the confidence though to save a lot of money and do it myself.
