    Bro I’ve been watching all these videos on how to bring it into your tackle shop, get this weird device you drill to a piece of plywood, all this extra step shit that would work but takes way more effort. This was exactly what I needed and I cannot believe how buttery smooth my casts have been. Thanks so much

    Brother this is brilliant! I’m specifically speaking of putting spool in water to apply to reel! Today I spooled 2 reels and made progress! lol First I struggled with a pencil (your trick will take care of that) but I tried, for the first time, adding the spool to warm tap water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Made a big difference from when I DIDN’T do it before. Next time entire process much easier. THANK YOU!

    The idea for soaking the line for me, I watched a string trimmer video and she explained how lines dry out over time and need to soak in water to extend line life. That is why I searched and found your video I figured the same was good for fishing line. She actually soaked the line for 24 hours and it really helps. Thank you for the video.

    A touch of unscented fabric softener in your warm water will help too. When your done fishing for the day and heading back. Cut everything off your line. Spool out at least twice as much line as you would have had out while fishing and "troll" it for awhile. This will take all the twist out of it too.

    • @roniler7960
      @roniler7960 3 года назад +1

      Be kinda hard to troll line for ice rod though.

  • @TheMcChesneys
    @TheMcChesneys 5 лет назад +6

    Warm water helps a little. The science behind it is called adhesion causing viscosity within the line. That makes the line stick to its self. If you get the reels wet before casting it will also keep the line from unraveling. I have fished in hard rains and noticed that years ago. Did some testing with the hot water soak and that will help a little for old line. However, pulling the line out to start your day is the best trick I know. Keep up the good work.

    In order to take the line off of your reel you can also stick a pencil in a drill and put it in reverse and it wraps around the pencil

    I've never done this. Even after checking direction of line on spool and reel, I kept getting crazy twist as I worked. I've look at so many videos, omg. So next I'll try this method! I've seen another that talked about the warm water trick. Thnx!

    • @Tree-vis
      @Tree-vis Год назад

      How did this method work for you? Did it get rid of coils?

  • @MrMotoMike
    @MrMotoMike 4 месяца назад

    I always use this method (as shown in the video):
    This being said, I'm not sure you're correct when you stated the spool flipped due to line twist. I think there's something else going on there, but I don't feel like filming it in slow motion to disprove this lol. I feel like the spool would eventually flip due to line twist, but it seems to flip too often based on twist alone. I suppose the line twist could be the main culprit, maybe the twist in the line helps grab the edge better and being in water it also makes it easier to flip.
    I have my spool flip even if I'm not using any water, maybe the line just grabs sometimes. Anyways, the warm water bowl method has never failed me. The warm water not only helps relax the line, but it also helps your finger not getting friction burn if you're applying tension. Also reel in SLOW to avoid water spilling. If you reel in fast you will spill water, and if you suddenly stop the fresh spool could keep spinning and get tangled a bit.

    Here I am searching how to use the spooler like a pro and comes along this dude who does it in seconds using a bowl with warm water. Fantastic idea.
    Question though: you mean to tell me that the dancing line in your warm water produces superior results than a spooler with perfect tension (after spring adjustments etc)?

    Another good way to take line off a reel is the stick a wooden dowel into an old spool and chuck the other end into a drill. Takes line off in seconds and it's free, use until full then grab another empty spool and go again

    I don’t understand why anyone would go through all these issues for a spinning reel; I’m actually surprised spinning reels are so popular. I use a Zebco spincast, yes Zebco! They make so many different model, they can pretty much be used for any situation. And guess what, no line twist. I use a Zebco 33 with 8 pound test for drop shot, Ned rig, wacky senko, Nero rigging. For crankbait sand spinnerbaits the Zebco Omega has great gear ratio. For Texas rig and Carolina rig the Zebco 733 Hawg with 17 pound test. For jigs and heavy cover, the Zebco 888 with 20-25 pound test. Zebco gets a bad rap cause we all used them as kids, but kids are probably harder on their equipment than adults. Zebco also last, they’re easy to repair and parts are available even for older models. They’re also very reasonably priced. Most newer models come with ball bearing drive and gears are all metal. Also, no bird nests for all you baitcasting aficionados. I put my Zebco ahead of any spinning reel or baitcaster. Seriously, why mess with equipment that requires so much maintenance and frustration.

Literally everything. It doesn't work.

    • @TargetWalleye
      @TargetWalleye  Год назад

      Need to put some tension on the line when spooling. If it goes on the spool too loosely then it can create issues (overlapping in a way that creates a knot, or mushing into itself when you set the hook on a fish). There's plenty of other ways to add tension, but I've also never had an issue with gently pinching the line between my thumb and index finger.
