Collared Peccary-Pig-like But Not A Pig

- The collared peccary is a mammal that ranges from SW United States all the way down through South America. Though sometimes referred to as wild pigs, these mammals are actually not in the pig family. They have a very versitile diet, eating everything from roots to small animals. Collared peccaries produce a very pungent musk when they feel threatened. To aid with swarming insects, they frequently take mud baths.
The music choice for this video is both confusing and humorous
OinkoinkoinkOINK.
they're kinda cute
Actually, they are pigs, more or less. This isn't a case of convergent evolution, like dogs and hyenas. The Old World pigs (like wild boars, warthogs and babirusas) are closely related to the New World pigs (peccaries). The two families are more closely related to each other than any other animals, making up the greater pig family.
Ums i hope they are Big difference from pig Please.. Bcse i'm muslim and can't eat or touch pig soo i hope this javelina Big different from pig so i can touch it..
Actually a pig is any member of the family Suidae, pigs are found only in the old world continents, peccaries are not pigs, peccaries belong to a separate family, Tayassuidae, despite similarities, these two families are not that closely related, pigs are the only extant representatives of the superfamily Suoidea, whilst peccaries are the only living representatives of a separate superfamily, Tayassuoidea, suoids lived exclusively in the old world whilst tayassuoids lived in the new world.
@@indyreno2933 actually both Suidea(real pigs) and Tayassuidae belong to the same suborder named Suina(pig like) hence are still more closely related than any other animal would. Also no such thing as super family.
@@pencenpensiun9858U can touch pig too as a muslim. Simply do not consume them
The music is distracting and unnecessary...
I bailed after a few seconds...because
Yes, their snouts resemble those of tapirs. Lovely animals.
I think we have found the most repulsive animal known to man. They are affectionately called "skunk pigs," because they smell terribly. The video is kind of an incorrect portrayal of them, they are not defenseless, and they have been known to have killed humans. I guess the maker of this video has a strange affinity for these animals, everyone needs a hero, but he left out some important information regarding their behavior that most people might find significant.
Yeah, most of us may find it significant that these animals have attacked and killed people, but yeah the narrator of this video didn't feel like including that minor detail, lol.
These animals mostly seem to resemble feral hogs in the southern US, in looks and behavior, they're filthy and savage.
I also wondered, what the hell was up with that chipmunk singing music the first part of the video?
I like how he calls them defenseless animals even though they could sink those long incisors into you and injure you pretty badly. Even pumas and jaguars have a hard time killing these guys sometimes so don't call them defenseless.
Right. 😂
Kakyoin!!!
@@lightplan yeah
They're not defenseless, and they're alot like the feral hogs in Texas, and they sure do attack and injure people.
These animals are definitely from the hog/boar/pig family, not sure why he said they're not pigs, just look at their snouts.
@@alvexok5523 because they're not pigs, but are related to them
“Then, there are those who would kill rare and defenseless animals”. 🙄
Anybody here from RDR2?
Me
Nice video, good job. I wish more people could take an interest in this stuff
Really cute
I saw a regional (WGN America - the Midwest area, in Chicago, iLLinois) weather broadcast (a nightly 10 O' Clock News) of a peccary walking through a patch of snow... the anchor called it a "skunk pig."
Any idiot would know that this species of animals are indeed closely related to pigs. Wild boar, wart hogs, domesticated pigs and javelina are all related.
@Κραζη Στυφφ Stop being stupid. You know damned well that you see a damn pig. Get off of my thread, swine.🐷
@Brandon Okkers I am certain he is a fellow-American. Let me explain, he probably has a very limited education, is short, ugly, and probably has a very small set of man-parts. He is neither cultured, nor capable of basic mathematics and is only multilingual. He probably doesn't know the difference between a viola and a violin. He is sooooo much less than many, many other people, that he boosts his ego by being extremely aggressive and belittling others.

The music is horrible and pointless.
Yeah, what the hell is up with that chipmunk singing early in the video?
SHOOOOT!
I think there’s a lot more that could have been said and a lot more of the other environments they live in that could have been shown. This piece lacked objectivity. I’m sure you’ll do better next time. Till then I’ll continue shooting poor defenseless peccary and putting them on my grill. What you’ll never know is the real story behind them.
