Yep. His S1 does terrible damage, but it applies a DoT effect and is perfect for killing enemies that die to a certain number of hits and ignore damage entirely. Levels on him or the skill just increase the damage of the DoT, which in this case is useless. Ethan is one of the strongest 4* units though and is well worth building. 4:07 I mean… this is on you for going straight to a guide instead of reading the boss description. I never needed a guide for this boss because I read the mechanics and pretty well understood. I brought Ethan and Blue Poison for the flames and split enemies (as I had done for basically every stage in the event), Gravel to tank the big spike hit, and Surtr and Specter to damage the boss and use their immortality for the lasers (along with other basic operators for the stage like medics, vanguards, and defenders). It’s not “Ethan is required for this fight”, it’s “Ethan helps a lot in this fight but his purpose is easily replaceable by other operators”. Ethan is just recommended because he works even at E0 for his purpose, is a free operator, and is a lower rarity and more likely to already be built on most accounts. You don’t even have to “know” how to fight the boss, as many players just spam the broken operators and win, while big brain players win with only Ethan, Jaye, and Gravel in the squad (It’s actually possible and very easy to do actually). There's actualy a lots of wiggle room for the vast majority of bosses, yes having the right character help, but there's a ton of peoples doing self challenge with all kind of themes that limit the character they can use, for exemple I beaten this boss using only 5star characters, others might do it using only goats, cats, birds, or characters for a specific nation, and there a lots of peoples that try their hardest to straight up ignore any mechanics and just bruteforce any boss, your issue is more the fact that you're a new player so your options are obviousely limited, and this is honestly not the easiest boss to start with as it's a huge healing check.
@@kevinseraphin5456 You can beat it with only 3 4star characters, the boss is actually rather easy (even will the bull* lasers that delete enemies and remove the ability do deploy on them).
As others said, the enemy description has the entire mechanics explained and there is plenty of room to do things but also as you said, this is just like darksouls, you will die a lot of times until you find a strategy. Hehe, wait until you find the ex challenge stages and the seaborns, you will know the terror of not reading😅
Oof that was literally the perfect situation for Ifrit. But she got used in literally the worst way possible. First of all PLEASE use S2 (and get it to skill level 7) 2 tanks holding two lanes, lining up enemies in Ifrits range, is already enough to hold down 2 of the lanes. Noone else is required, since Ifrit has extreme AoE damage and will melt the hordes in those two lanes. Then just place down everything else in the 3rd lane that Ifrit cant reach, and you win.
U dont have to build ethan, ethan is there for his dot to kill firelight. Just make sure no one touch him since lvl 1 will die to anything . Anyway u only need to lose one time to get the info on enemies mechanic. But u dont read 😂
Yeah the comments are roasting you. Sadly this is a case of I don't blame them this time. Apparently there's a meme that says English speaking Arknights players can't read and unfortunately you have been an example this video. Still enjoy the content and looking forward ro more.
In all fairness, Sui-Xiang is a bit notorious for having just way too much going on between his lasers and lightning and tail stabs and phase transitions. It makes the fight especially frustrating for newer players who have to actually engage with all of its mechanics instead of just bulldozing through with a fully built meta team, and the constant pressure means a single slip-up will likely spiral out of control and wipe your entire setup. It also doesn't help that the central event mechanic (hit counts) is extremely cheeseable by specific units like Ethan, which makes the stages really polarizing in terms of difficulty. but please there's enemy descriptions i beg of you--
JESSICA MY BELOVED!!!! My favorite sad cat, my second M9 module 3 level 90 operator (Saria was my first), even her sniper form is maxed out. Have you seen what she says on her second promotion??? She asks for a hug! (Alter form, btw)
I would not use Horn as a measure for whether to build Ashlocke. I've built and used both and it'd be like thinking Lutonada was good because you borrowed Mudrock. You'd end up extremely disappointed.
If you need a win character against Sui-Xiang, then I suggest borrowing Yato Alter (Executor Specialist). Her S3 essentially turns her into an invincible lawn mower, and since the boss is so fat he gets shredded in only a couple of uses. Mind you his phase 3 will shoot lasers that scorch the ground, making the tile unusable, so you will need to put units in lanes to take hits from the lasers.
I get your frustration with some bosses having obscure mechanics but **reading** the descriptions help and you picked one of the more unique boss fights. And a small tip regarding the rebar throwing guys: the 6* Lin (Purple Rat Caster) can indefinitely stall them and tank for other operators.
11:00 "what are we supposed to do" : at this point you're honestly supposed to have an entire squad of E2 units, having only E1 isn't gonna cut it tbh.
Gonna have to read enemy descriptions lol Almost all events do give quite a lot of leeway, but you do have to know what the boss does to adjust the strat
don't take guides as "you have to use these exact operators", they're more like "characters that can fill these roles can do these jobs in this map" for example Ethan, in this map specifically, can be replaced with Earthspirit or any other aoe slower (though Ethan is a billion times better than her and one of the best stallers in the entire game and i highly recommend building him) Ifrit's en va is indeed extremely unfitting for her appearance and character, this is because she got a first generation en dub, almost all of which are very unfitting and voiced by inexperienced, low cost actors, it's best you switch her to japanese use your two weekly event unlocks
Gonna have to disagree there. For Ifrit I think the English version is her best dub. The other ones just don't feel right to me. Though I do agree that her recruitment line is one of her worst lines. But her battle and post battle lines are great imo.

I'm gonna be real here. Even if you do read, if you base your expectations on the Enemy Descriptions alone, then there are some mechanics that you will have to eyeball via pattern recognition because the game tends to use vague words instead of percentages and numbers to describe gimmick thresholds.
This is my point. You wont REALLY know the intricacies of the fight without seeing the intricacies. And you wont see all the intricacies without having the right characters built to get you to the point where more intricacies unfold through the multiple phases. Also, reading is fundamentally not the same thing as first hand experience. I get why people are annoyed with me. But I gave my genuine first time reaction to a difficult boss. Which I am not done with by the way...I will GRILL this oversized salamander and eat him for DINNER!
@@ClayChoShow while i'm one of those people who scolds you for not even attempting to read, i do agree that most of AK bosses are nonsensical, and that even reading what they do or observing it wouldn't always provide an answer on how to beat them efficiently. IDK if you already built Ethan or not, but if not, you ABSOLUTELY DON'T NEED TO for this, you can literaly use him at level 1 because all you need is the fact that he apply a DOT to the thing that require a certain amount of hits, the DOT bein 1 or 500 damages don't matter.

6:35 Using the english google translate is wrong, because it's based on the germanic and french weapons of "Degen" (Rapier-like sword) and she is a Degen brecher (breaker). She breaks weapons. That's the joke, and her ingame mechanic.
She also uses jians as her weapons, which are Chinese swordbreakers designed to break other weapons. This is lost a bit in translation since an actual degenbrecher is a small parrying dagger with ripsaw teeth that can snag swords, but it makes sense to give her the closest Germanic translation they could. But her name stems from the weapons she uses.
@@Reldan I didnt know they were called that, but I knew she didn't use her own namesake for weapons. Generally a big fan of arknights exploring a lot of mythical real life lore from different countries though

First of all PLEASE use S2 (and get it to skill level 7)
2 tanks holding two lanes, lining up enemies in Ifrits range, is already enough to hold down 2 of the lanes. Noone else is required, since Ifrit has extreme AoE damage and will melt the hordes in those two lanes.
Then just place down everything else in the 3rd lane that Ifrit cant reach, and you win.
Is so fun to see how he can get in so much trouble just by refusing to use a single fking pioneer LOL
Borrow Yato Alter S3 for Sui. Trust me on this one. Unless this footage is old and you cleared it already by now. Ah well.
I like that the community is backing up new players
Arknights most hated RUclipsr 😖
@@AryanV656 We Many are everywhere.
11:58 i like how he asks for an ashlocke then almost checks out horn
The Chocolate GOAT Carnelian can tank the throwers with some healing. I like to think of her archetype as a tank-caster.
U dont have to build ethan, ethan is there for his dot to kill firelight. Just make sure no one touch him since lvl 1 will die to anything . Anyway u only need to lose one time to get the info on enemies mechanic. But u dont read 😂
Ethan is a good investment since you will see that his bind can really be useful in a lot of stages and the higher end challenges. 😊
Ahh yes the real boss for most arknights player "READ the enemy mechanic"
jessica alters so funny the event references those yellow CDPR messages and her weapons are all things john wick uses
Horn is the same archetype as Ashlock but she's the 6-star version. You were literally hovering your mouse over her. 😂
He missed the opportunity to use Gravel while he got a clue in front of him
You should stop waiting until your operators are critical to place a healer down. It's costing you allot of sanity.
"Oh, I'll just let them into my hole..."
Ahem. PHRASING!

Try carnelian (6*).
I get your frustration with some bosses having obscure mechanics but **reading** the descriptions help and you picked one of the more unique boss fights.
And a small tip regarding the rebar throwing guys: the 6* Lin (Purple Rat Caster) can indefinitely stall them and tank for other operators.
Operator placement and reading is the key
11:00 "what are we supposed to do" : at this point you're honestly supposed to have an entire squad of E2 units, having only E1 isn't gonna cut it tbh.
4:56 read the enemy ability on enemy info before you entering the stage. It's has everything written in there
This Boss is simple.
You need lots of healers & 1 beeg DPS/HPS
"I'm not doing that"
I cant wait until you see sultifera navis biss 🤣
Gonna have to read enemy descriptions lol
Almost all events do give quite a lot of leeway, but you do have to know what the boss does to adjust the strat
11:45 to use ifrit, line up the defender beside her range, so they will be blocked inside her ranges. Also use her Skill 2.
Fun fact: you can solo IW-9 using Walter only
…read the enemy description my guy. It’s incredible what you can do if you read what the boss mechanics are.
In IW-9(Invitation to weenay), try ascalon if you don't wanna build ethan and use her as both dps for the boss and wave clear for the flame things
don't take guides as "you have to use these exact operators", they're more like "characters that can fill these roles can do these jobs in this map"
for example Ethan, in this map specifically, can be replaced with Earthspirit or any other aoe slower (though Ethan is a billion times better than her and one of the best stallers in the entire game and i highly recommend building him)
Ifrit's en va is indeed extremely unfitting for her appearance and character, this is because she got a first generation en dub, almost all of which are very unfitting and voiced by inexperienced, low cost actors, it's best you switch her to japanese
use your two weekly event unlocks
Gonna have to disagree there. For Ifrit I think the English version is her best dub. The other ones just don't feel right to me.
Though I do agree that her recruitment line is one of her worst lines.
But her battle and post battle lines are great imo.
Ifrit is older than most think... She's also taller than Amiya...
@@MiMuMo She’s literally a “child” through, and children don’t usually sound like middle-aged women. I’m not saying she should sound like Gawr Gura, but at least _some_ sort of child-like voice-acting should be present.
Ethan in this event is there for the dot on s1 not the cc/ slow that earthspirit could replace
@@hmson7i really? i mainly remember that event for making slowers shine, i used like 3 of em throughout it
I will say Ethan doesn’t need to be leveled kill the fireballs since they only care about hit count not damage. The only reasons I think you would want to level him is so he doesn’t die to lightning as fast or bind.
Considering you deploy Fang and don't retreat her, maybe it's better for your gameplay style to use Skill 1 instead of 2
tbf I also hated that dragon boss, my kroos alter is still sitting at pot1 when I could probably go back and beat it with the squad I have now but I just can't be bothered
One day EN will learn how to read, and read enemy descriptions instead of complaining, and actually listen to the guides to know thing like, ethan doesnt have to be built
3rd day of 2 event shards reminder.
Yea
"Good old fashion Plant vs Zombies level"

"This isn't Dark Souls where your main enemy is your own reaction time and your patience"
:D Let us introduce you to and End Game content called Contingency Contract
Where the autistic side of the player base can go ham repeating the same map over and over and over again.
Took one of the most difficult Contingency Contract with maxed out difficulty months to clear in the CN server
Lmao i knew Mudrock was coming at 7-3
5:00 how we support to know that
well we read every enemy and boss skill before play every stage
maybe u can't win boos for the first try but u will know what boss skill cooldown and what they can do
u don't need to fight boss 100 times just a couple or dozen is enough
and u don't need to build ethan lvl just skill lvl 7 is enough
I disagree on "right characters built" though, while certain operators definitely ignore particular mechanics, it's definitely doable with just the people you like. As long as people you like cover every basic role of this game and you know how to use them...
i remember i beat that boss with on release with like 6 medics in my squad. i let practically every lil flame guy through though :D
Brother, on the enemy stage there is a tab called enemy info right above the start button that tells you what enemies do after doing the stage once. Just read, it’s not that hard…. Geez…
Yato alter can solo that boss easily. Also you have a ton of under level units, you need to promote them to Elite 2
Uhhh, yeah. Graphics cards. Tactical ballistic graphics cards.
The lengths this man goes to not read or use any medics...
Brain not braining
If you cant clear this may i suggest knight grani, Heart of surging flames , Code of brawl and Darknight memoir side story? They are really easy to clear and its free 70~90 yellow rock (if you clear them all with challenges)
ye this is why we all need to go to school
"how do you know what this enemy/boss does?" Read the enemy info
"I dont even have the right operators" the operators you have can clear 99% of content in the game
"They arent built enough/high enough level" finish building your base so you have a stable source of LMD and EXP
All of the above. 👍
If you need an ashlock, I can provide one. Doctor name Fyeya.
you can actually use level 1 Ethan for the boss since his job is not dps
Jessica Wick
zang the dragon
American Dragon Zang Long.
you dont need a full built ethan. I remember doing it with a lvl 1 e0 ethan. ethan just help with fires. did borrowed sutr tho... xD
Just a tip, when i comes to stages that swarm you. Defenders are good to hold but you almost always need damage, especially AoE. Wisadel, AoE casters and Snipers are good. If you want both a defender and aoedamage, some good inbetweens are Centurion guards and Reaper Guards, they have 2 block(up to 3 for centurion in e2) and deal aoe physical
E0 LVL1 Ethan is enough, you dont need to build him
pretty sure E2 Walter can solo this fight.
mechanics are not really the issue, your characters are just stat checked, because most are still E1
it is dark souls, it does need you to have appropriate reaction time, why did you think they have miliseconds in the operator cooldowns :'v
btw, you don't even need ethan leveled, the fireballs HP are hit based, and his skill one has DoT in it
"This isn't dark souls!"
Stultifera Navis, POO, CC, most of IS bosses: "Are you sure about that?"
Guys, please can someone tell me how to 3 star 9-19? I'm begging u. I absolutely cooked. I literally tried everything, and wasted 3 fking hours still not more than 2 stars
