Well it looks like Las Terrenas has recovered after the hurricane-s.
These were taken before the hurricane. I departed a week before it hit and my friend who was still there reported that there was a lot of damage- more than they ever have had!

2 small corrections… your video ends on Las Ballenas beach (not Bonita), and although it’s dirty compared to Many North American towns, it has never claimed to be an ‘upscale or tourist’ town.

I am in Las Terrenas. I was expecting tropical paradise but have been very disappointed. The town is totally blighted by traffic and it is dangerous to walk . The place is filthy. There is litter everywhere and plastics litter the beach. There are very few decent shops but many real estate offices selling property. Why anyone would want to live here I don’t know. Out of town the beaches are nice but again very busy with traffic and pedestrian unfriendly. I would think twice before coming here. The authorities need to address the garbage and trash issue. It is heartbreaking to see the amount of plastics and trash dumped everywhere. Don’t even think of driving here. Very dangerous.
I agree, that's why I show the streets like I did. The town is like many other barrios; if you want to get a different feel, you must be right by the beach (away from the noise of motos) and go slightly out of the town area. It can be disappointing. Also, I would try Samana. Peace.
