I feel this anime should be given the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood treatment. I would die for a remake that is more polished and follows the manga ending.

There is this really sad panel of her decompose body and a vector hand holding the gun, giving it to koua. So he is forced to kill her. Years pass, he is married to his cousin and have a daughter. Every year he goes to Lucy's puppy grave were they initially meet. He is there with his daughter (also called nyuu) and then 2 children appear, two twin sisters friends of kota's daughter. We never see their faces but is kinda confirmed (but in reality, it's speculation) that they are the good personalitys of nyuu reborn. They say to kota "we were trying to meed an old friend" or smt like that, since that was lucys promise to him before she died. So, kota starts crying feeling that overwhelming joy. Its a very bittersweet ending and a very physiological one, but its great! Personally, the manga ending gives more emotions and etc but i really like the anime ending as well
I think after watching the anime and comparing it to the manga, the studio preferred to show the psychological dimension of humans in the event of a faction stronger than it or weaker than it, and the effects of that on the abusers, as we saw what happened with Lucy and the painful past she lived. While the manga focused on the story more mainly, and the sequence of events was turbulent and heterogeneous, and had a lot of illogicality in the events, and also showed some characters badly than they were in the anime, such as Kota and his cousin. So, in general, I prefer anime in stages, and the studio has been creative in developing its creative version of drawing, distortion, vocal performance, OSTS and a great encrypted ending.

Spot on . This held back nothing was graphic but that's what they were treated like which was depraved. It's a tragic story of cruelty . Watched episode one of 7 deadly sins. Straight up groping and boobs like you said . Couldn't watch any more. This show was rough but it was excellent. Pushed boundaries and it's a tragic story . But a brilliant one .

I remember after watching the anime in 2014, however abruptly it had ended, i was gravitated towards the story so I decided to read the manga. And i read the entire manga listening to this and lilium, and till date it's one of the best mangas i have ever read, and has a lasting impression as a story.

It is very tragic. Kouta lied abou his cousins gender, lie that when revealed to Lucy, triggered her dicnolius side, and then she did awful things. White lie Kouta told, to spare his friends feelings, a butterfly effect that unfortunately triggeed such a chain reaction of events that left him traumatized for life and caued that very person to lose their last straw and went far and beyond across line which there is no return from. And so many years and trauma later, that veey person is in his care with heavy case of amnesia, and the moment Lucy snaps out of Nyu persona in the stairs she tries to apologize from something that is imposible to forgive. But even when that violent and murderous persona is locked behind Nyu's back, she tries to over and over again to apologize to Kouta. Even as Nyu, the quilt is present, she remembers Kouta's painfull tears as he cries over his sisters and fathers corpses, his family that she, Lucy killed. She remembers the tines they used to play together, hugs him and just wants to call out his name. My HC for the Anime ending is that, in the end when Lucys second horn was broken for good, her Dicnoliucus persona was gone and she became just an ordinary girl. She is behind the door. The music box symbol of Lucy stops playing, and the broken Grandfather clock that Nyu was very found of and tried to fix suddenly starts moving again. Nyu is permanently just a human girl who gets new chance in life. Her horns never grow back, the are gone for good and so is her vectors and violent side. They all get happy found family ending. (I know that in the manga the story goes on and it indeed was Nyu behind the door. She had lost ability to use vectors, and began to mature and learned to talk normally. She was ashamed of her old childish and happy nonconsensual gropping others manners. For a while they all were living happily, but the horns started to grow back and soon she became Lucy again. The Anime is better imo, the manga is a mess)

Lucy is such a sad character. She didn't deserve what she got. I think we can all learn a lesson here that the government's scheming & planning is what makes life so miserable. They used Lucy, nana & beings which were diclonious to kill them because they were becoming a threat to humanity but how really they didn't hurt them (humans) & they still hated them & wanted to eradicate them, it's just sad.

Nyuu is a split personality of Lucy. They are technically 2 different people locked into one person, Nyuu has no idea of Lucy's actions, and Lucy has no idea of Nyuu's. Therefore Light would get her when she's a cold-ass murderer and I'd get her when she's an adorable little innocent girl who can barely speak anything but her name :D

I'd suggest to get the mangas if you want the full story. However, if you want a kind of spiritual successor, watch "Brynhildr in the dark". Its written by the same author as Elfen Lied and has an anime-adaptation, too. Manga-for-full-story rule applies here too, though.
