Here are 4 things that actually made bigger difference in my life than waking up at 5am: 1. Fixing my sleep schedule instead of just forcing early mornings - quality over timing 2. I read all books on Mind-bloomery, it seriously changed how I see self-discipline 3. The book "The Calm Within: Cultivating Clarity amid stress and anxiety" really taught me how to manage stress and stay clear-headed 4. Learning to work with my energy levels instead of against them - some days 8am is just fine
One of the things I love most about you as an influencer is that you don't *feel* like an influencer. Does that make sense? Do other Keltie fans know what I mean? It's 100% a compliment! :) You feel like a normal person. (while still being successful and awesome!) You never claim to be perfect or act fake. So listening to your advice feels doable for real-life, non-IG-model people like me! idk if I explained this well.... but y'all get my point :) We love you, Keltie! and my dog Beans says hi again lol
Yes! Like most other influences say "this is amazing it changed my life instantly! Everyone HAS to do this!" Etc. While Keltie talks about the negatives and how maybe it's NOT for everyone. Love her so much.
many influencers are very egotistical and lack integrity. they will sacrifice a lot to make money and be seen. you can see it in their eyes and general energy. Keltie feels more grounded, earnest and savvy. following modern science and having a humble curiosity in her experimentations. it’s refreshing
I've stopped fighting and now wake up and start work an hour later and that's been the best decision. I have spent most of my life getting naturally sleepy around 1-2am, even as a kid when I had to be up at 6:15 to get ready for school. I was constantly tired, foggy during the day, and would crash on the weekends really hard. In my late 30s, I'm able to fall asleep around 12am and have my wake-up time at 7:30am, which has also been sustainable for the weekends. It's been a literal game changer and this is the first winter that I have not dealt with seasonal depression. While I understand the appeal of the 5am trend, I think for some of us night owls, figuring out a way to embrace our rhythms is going to be healthier in the long run than constantly forcing ourselves to push through.
I was so stupid to get a job where I have to get up at 6 am every day and I feel the same again as I did at school as you described 🙈 university was the only time I got enough sleep in my life
It's true, innit. Left to my own devices, I sleep from 2AM-10AM and feel ok with that, but sadly I have a 6AM job so. I wish I had appreciated my 2nd shift job more lmao
Same. I stopped pretending that I needed to be up at 5:00 AM to be productive. My happy productivity/waking hours is 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM. I need a lot of sleep to function. But I'm a good worker and my bosses don't mind my hours. Making my own schedule that works for my body instead of what society deems "the best" has been a game changer.
I found getting a dog gave me the motivation to become an early morning person. I love having extra time to take her out before the sun rises. The fresh air and a happy dog is a great way to start my day!
I also have a dog and I wouldn't say it's motivated me to become an early morning person...that's just the reality of my mornings now. If I can sleep in until 8 a.m. on vacation, I'm doing it.
I agree. Also, getting a dog really made me want to go home after a night out with friends rather than staying up later and possibly falling asleep at someone's place for the night. Cant happen because my pup is waiting for meeee 😄
I tried waking up at 5am for 3-4 months to work out, then took a break and started again doing a different workout from 6-7am (still getting up at 5 or 5:30am). I stuck with it for about 10 months. I HATED it. I was proud of my discipline and that I did it for so long. But in the end, I realized that I wasn’t getting the results I wanted from the workout, so that needed a change. But also, I was miserable; I had given it my all trying to go to bed early so I could wake up early and then go work out. I would wake up tired and then become anxious about getting to the class and then to work everyday. So I quit. I learned that I feel better and have a happier day if I have a slow, easy, relaxing morning at home with coffee and RUclips. Then I’m more motivated the rest of the day. Also, I perform better during my workouts if they’re later in the day; I could do the same workout at 6am and at 4pm, and the 4pm wouldn’t feel as hard to me. I’m just not an early morning person.
Same. My day goes well when it's a slow quiet morning and do highest activity in the afternoon around 4p. Helps me relax and be actually sleepy to get to bed on time.
I wake up at 5 AM for work, literally just so I have enough time to get myself (and the dogs) ready and get out the door. I’ve never been an early bird but I’m finally getting used to it after a year. Going to bed at the same time every night for me is key 👌 I stumbled across your channel about a month ago as I was starting my fitness journey, and you’re so inspirational to watch and it’s been keeping me accountable! ❤
Love that you’ve got that routine dialled! 👏🏻 Welcome to the channel! So happy you’ve been enjoying the videos the last month ☺️ Hope 2025 is your year!
I wake up at 4:30 most days for a 5:15 gym class. It really starts my day!! But if I didn't have that I don't know if I would have the motivation. I think having a good reason for it, it totally makes sense. The time audit is a great idea to get data on how you're wasting time and how to fix it!
That quote from Vogue really hits...and it is so true. People are so quick to hop on micro-trends and it really is an indicator of how much time is spent on one's phone!
As a working new-mom, 5 am became necessary to have space to myself and prep for work/take care of my casa. I've never been an early bird, but necessity changes you. 5am isn't for everyone, but it's also pretty great when you get used to it.
Three years ago I needed an excuse to get up early, I started working in a hotel where I start at 7 am, I wake up at 5am the 5 days of work and I love it, it's true that social life is altered and a lot, especially when you prioritise exercise after work so there is not much free time left for social life, but I don't change my routine for anything, I feel better than ever, I'm super active during the day, my workouts improve every year, in general having to stop partying It has changed my life 90% and I've really never been so happy. I say this at 18:40 on a Saturday in my pyjamas and eating a dessert ready to get into bed 😂
I wish people would stop idolizing waking up early and demonizing waking up late. I'm a night owl, always have been, always will be and I was lucky (and stubborn) enough to find an employer that's OK with that. I can be productive until 2-3AM and can't concentrate at all before noon. My truly "good" hours only start after 4PM. I'm not lazy for waking up after 11AM, there's just literally very little point for me to wake up early. Waking up at 5AM is the stuff of nightmares for me. I remember back in uni when I had 9AM exams and had to wake at 7:30AM for them, I would take sleeping pills the night before, but if I took them before 1AM even that didn't help and I would just lay awake in bed until after 1AM, sometimes even after 2AM.
I absolutely relate to this! I can't get over the idolization of something that is so individual. Like i said in my comment a while ago, I get anxious just listening to the amount of rules that are being listed in this video, just to shift your day to start earlier and end earlier... Why can't it just end whenever it ends and you go to sleep whenever you feel sleepy? Why do we have to do all of these tricks and weird hacks to make ourselves go to sleep? :D :D Sorry, not for me. She speaks about simplifying things, to me even her "simplier" solutions sound insanely complicated for something that should come natural.
I’m also 1000% a night owl. I’m most productive from 9pm-1am and get a lot of things done around that time. I perform better when I workout later in the day vs the wee hours of the morning. I usually sleep from 11pm/midnight until 9-11am and don’t feel lazy about it. I mostly work night shift which is really nice; I do occasionally work morning shifts but my managers know I prefer nights
I usually wake up between 4-4:30AM to go to my 5:15AM class! Not only does it help to start the day to wake me up and know I already put the work in, but helps keep me regimented about my sleep and making sure I am going to bed at an adequate time (between 8:30-9:30PM) to get enough sleep. Sleep and recovery is so important. My body already starts feeling ready for bed by that time 😂
Keltie, it was so motivating. yeah, balance is key and that we should enjoy life. Summer is the time, when we finally get some light outside (endless winter and grey weather here in Berlin) and there are so much to do even in the evening. Autumn is the time, when we can get back to our usual productivity routine and cozy movie/book nights before we have to go to bed. Mindless scrolling is so hard, i fall back to it easily, especially when i'm stressed or feel isolated
Keltie you’re content has always been entertaining but the last few months it’s also been so reflective and thoughtful, I’m loving it and is one of the few channels I bother with. ❤
Many years ago, my husband had to get up at 4 a.m. for work, and I would wake up from his alarm and stay up to follow his rhythm. When that time ended, and we could sleep as long as we wanted (because he became self-employed), we both started waking up at 6 a.m. with no alarm. We've been doing it ever since! My best hack for fitting in staying up later on weekends or for special events is getting up at your usual time on the day you are staying up longer, that way you will be truly tired when you do get to go to bed. Then the next day, sleep a little longer than you normally would, and do a more Zone 2 type of workout, but make it a long one. (My favourite is going for a 10K walk) Then go to bed at your usual time and you should be fine. Also, if you can fall asleep for whatever reason, remember that resting, even if you are not sleeping, is still better for your body and mind than getting up and doing something. And no, you are not actually resting when you consume media, even if your body isn't moving!
the thing i love about waking up early and working out immediately is that it gives me such a routine. i think the way in which you can keep this habit the best is if you dont hold onto it too strictly. some days i just wake up later because i had a late shift or hung out with a friend. no need to put myself through torture just so i can wake up like a zombie at 5 am
As a shift worker who start work from 5am to 11:59pm, and finishes around the clock...... Jetlag sometimes once a week, sometimes three times a week, you just get used to it 😂 Sometimes in bed at 4am/7am/11am, sometimes in bed by 7pm/9pm/11pm... People who claim to be "better" for walking up early is a fascinating claim. Loved how you show the pros and cons. Currently waking up early (5:20am) this weekend, but then next weekend is back to Nightshift 😊
Keltie I met a golden retriever puppy at the store today and thought of your “go pet a dog” sign off lol she was the cutest softest thing I’d ever seen 🥰
ok, last comment, then I'll hush lol I also admire your commitment to long-term testing of everything from shoes to food to wake up times. Very impressive and gives much better data/impressions than testing things for short-term. Keep it up! :)
Just found this channel (and am looking to move up my wake up time since I love peaceful slow mornings as opposed to rushing) and I just wanted to say I love your energy!
Honestly I just get up about 3 hours before I need to be at work. To have some quiet peace, workout and get ready for the day. I work in construction so right now I get up at 3am to be at work at 6am. Depending on weather and daylight that might change to a 5am or 4am start too and I just roll my wake up time back normally. The things I always prioritize in the morning is to read from The Book of Awakening, journal for just 5 minutes, do 10 minutes of yoga and take my dog for a 20-30 minute walk. So sometimes I don’t get up 3 hours before work, sometimes it’s 2 hours and I just prioritize those 4 things and my mood is so much better throughout the day.
Having a consistent bedtime/night routine is my goal for the year. So far, I've started with being done with screens at 10pm, and just using my hour before bed to get ready for bed and to clean up and do anything I can to make tomorrow Zoe's life easier. I'm still in the early steps of this, but eventually I'm going to start going to bed earlier and earlier and wake up earlier like Keltie said in stages!
Keltie, your videos are thoroughly enjoyable. I like that you are honest in your reviews, and you have actually lived what you review. Your humour is fun! I'm in my 50s and as I get older fake or shallow traits are revolting. I've no time for them at all, especially on RUclips. I love getting up at 5am, but only if I've gone to bed at a decent time. I absolutely need 8hrs a night in order to breathe, blink and move LOL. Otherwise living is a struggle. Getting up at 5am is motivated by my first cup of tea and the silence. I don't do anything 'productive' other than enjoy my tea, the silence and RUclips (I often mute the videos). I am retired so have all day to do whatever I need. When I was working, I still got up at 5am because I needed the time to myself first. I used to also walk for an hour...something I am going to get back into this year. Anyhoo...Thank you for your wonderful videos. Have a great week (its Sunday here :0) )
Loved this video Keltie - all of your videos are so well planned out and so informative! BUT i just had to say at like 12:45 under your to-dos “learn how to say Altea” literally had me cracking up 😂 iykyk hahaha Happy new year, can’t wait for all your videos this year 🤍
Great video Keltie! My hack to waking up early: put your alarm clock in another room so you have to get up to turn it off, bonus if you turn on a light it helps wake you up faster.
omg keltie i’ve been in the exact same journey lately. i’ve been waking up at 5:30 am for the past month (as a previous night owl) and i never thought i could do this. i just absolutely love how relatable you are so thank you!
so i’ve been focusing on improving my overall health, and i finally got that doctor’s appointment i’d been putting off. the results came back better than expected-my cholesterol is down, my energy’s up, and i just feel so much more in tune with myself. it’s like everything just clicked once i started putting my energy towards health and well-being. i think it’s thanks to Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, which i read after seeing it mentioned so often in comments. it really helped me shift my mindset and manifest the health i was craving.
I have to get up at 4:15am for work and I absolutely enjoyed watching you share your experience - especially the social part! It feels so weird coming home, eating, taking care of my dogs, showering and going straight to bed!
I am a 5 am girlie and it works really well for me. My schedule includes: 5 am wake up (obviously) 5-5:30 workout 5:30-6 breakfast 6-7 get ready for the day 8:30am-4:30pm school 4:30-5 snack 5-6 walk my dog 7-8 study 8-8:30 read 8:30-9 get ready for bed 9-9:30 bed time Total sleep: 8h 30m ❤
I’ll be honest for a long time I wanted to be the sort to wake up at 5am however I require sun light in the morning as soon as possible. In the uk if you wake up at 5 for half the year you’ll be waiting sometimes up to 4 hours for actual sunlight. Also trying to wake up earlier if you live with your partner or with family that can easily irritate you it makes it harder or just not desirable. Now I wake up at 8 each day, in bed by 11 and it’s made my life so much better than even trying to wake up at 7
@@plumdutchess not the same thing sadly. I need actual sunlight, not a lamp waking me up. Or just lights on in the house. I just end up feeling more inclined to jump back into bed and I'm never actually being productive with my time.
I love your videos! I relate so much and have similar interests and habits as you. Haha. I wake up at 2-3am cus of my job. Heres some of my hacks.. make it fun, reward yourself with something like a treat or drink thats only associated with a night routine. Red lights all around the house, if i dont read a book or magazine i will watch boring content like someone driving in the rain. Red tint on screens. Get a quality mattress, sheets, and pillows. Make sure your body temp drops before falling asleep. Hyrdrate more thoughout the day so you are not peeing all night. Thats just some techniques I use.
I use your red light filter hack on my iPad as I'm the type to go down RUclips wormholes on my iPad in bed. I'm slowly training myself out of the habit and having the red filter turn on at 9 pm has been a game changer. Now I set a timer for 45 minutes and "listen" to videos like podcasts and it turns off automatically. My sleep has been better and I've been craving less video content now. Another hack that I started doing is literally stacking my journal and book on top of my iPad on my nightstand so I can write in my journal, and then read before bed. Sometimes I don't even set up the iPad to "listen" because the reading makes me sleepy.
The scrolling and then researching is so real. I love this magazine idea hack and the quote about fashion according to screen time is too funny / real. I’m a big fan of early mornings, so I appreciate the insight !! Great video :)
For over 10 years I was shift working - and there is one thing I truly miss about Night shifts - the quite mornings in May. It’s such a serene time, it’s beautiful! I definitely going to try to wake up at 5 (or even earlier?) this year just to experience this calmness again. Ooooor I’m gonna stay up all night lol
Within a few weeks of ditching alcohol (at first, as a "break", but now it's my permanent jam), I became a morning person. Which was very much not what I was before. And because of that, I now consistently exercise in the morning too. It's been great!
Thank you so much for showing your vulnerability! Also, I STRUGGLE with boundaries (I say this as someone who once had an stress-induced heart attack), so THANK YOU for this video! Much love!
When you are self employed, you will work harder for yourself than for someone else. Also take the weekend to catch up on rest. I wake at 04:30, because by Friday I have a hard time getting out of bed. Thank you for your sharing Kellie. I look forward to your videos.
Loved loved loved this video. So realistic, really cool you did it for a year. ATM I wake up at 05:30 and I think I will change that when we reach the summer months. Btw love your new "mhh mhh" it's so sweet!
The bit where you say about the "dread" of having to do more work, soooo on point. I've spent two years doing coworking sessions with a client at night. I decided this year to stop this, and instead get up and do 30 mins/1 hour of work every morning before my kids get up, in my pyjamas, lofi music and chilled... so much happier. SO SO SO much happier and I'm actually getting as much, if not more, work done. I do however realise this needs to be FLEXIBLE and while getting up at the same time of day and going to bed at the same time of night is important, being able to roll with the punches is wayyyy better for mental health and general life.
The “bribe yourself” is so true!🤝 I don’t wake up at 5AM, but what really gets me out of bed in the morning is looking forward to checking social media, while drinking my hot chocolate collagen coffee. I only let myself have that one cup, and check most social media once per day, so I just look so forward to it every morning! 🔥👏
Keltie, why does this vlog make me feel so cozy??!! Lol❤❤ I m thinking I'm going to be trying this this year. Maybe a month of this can get me back on track!!
I get up at 5 am when I start work at 7 am. I enjoy it. I put my eyepatches on, feed my cats and make my lunch. Then I get ready and still have some time to chill before I have to leave. A wake up light is a must for me. Have had one for about 20 years and when I forget to set it, I feel sluggish all day.
So funny that my husband and I decided THIS WEEK to start waking up at 5am 😂 we have a small business and it never feels like there are enough hours in the day for us to work for it. We also want to get into better shape but our apartment gym is super tiny and we hate walking/jogging when other people are out cause we listen to music and don’t want to be in other people’s way without realizing 😂 it’s only been 3 days so far and it’s been more like 5:30 or 5:40, but just starting is important and now we’ll be able to keep it up with some of your hacks 😊
Former night person turned morning person here. For me the hardest part was the belief about who I was. Being a night owl was part of my personality. Cool people stay up late; they're more creative; they're more fun, etc. Because of my job and #momlife, I wake up between 5:15 and 5:30 most days. I live in the area of a time zone that is dark by 9:30 at the latest in the summer, so it hasn't been as detrimental. HOWEVER, having little kids does make it a lot easier socially because I'm not going anywhere. This probably doesn't help much, but I'm going on 12 years of it, and I do feel better.
I wake up at 4:45am for work, and honestly there's something about the quiet and cold of the morning, before the sun is up, that just feels so good. Between that and avoiding traffic, I much prefer getting up early. Going to bed on time is another story 🤣
I'm in this club for about 5 years now ;) I work 6:30-2:30, and my biggest motivation are those long, long afternoons with so much more daytime just for myself. Hopefully i'll never have to work 9 to 5 again.
It really is all about that night routine. It takes a literal eternity but at night I pack my kids lunches, do dishes, take our showers, lay out clothes, do EVERYTHING at night.
Loved this video! I appreciate your honesty on how not all habits are meant for everyone, and the social life & creativity aspect (as a fellow musician) is a real thing! Would love to know when you feel creatively energized and if you structure your days around that :))
So happy it resonates with you as a fellow creative! 2 ways I structure: 1) week days I plan my heaviest creative moment earlier in the day before lunch as that’s when I’m most creative. Then I usually have a second block around 2-5pm when I know I get that “second win” 2) I don’t work on anything creative or work on weekends, instead I do “creative rejuvenation” which for me is being social getting outside and moving my body. I always have a place to write down all ideas (my iPad or notion in my phone), because the irony is when I’m away from it is when my ideas come 🤣 but I have them all written down to review on Monday! That’s what works for me
I am a 5 am girlie…used to be a 4 am with havi having my earlier riser daughter for years. I have significantly reduced my tv/screen time. However I do get where you are coming from in regards to the summer and recently at times going to bed before my kids. I love the time to myself before the chaos of kids/work. I’m taking it another level with significantly reducing my alcohol intake on weekends…it’s been hard but my sleep and productivity has improved. I have also learned to enjoy time to myself and not always seeking stimulation. I’m the summers I love getting outside to enjoy the sun so that can be motivating.
My school makes me an unwilling member of the 5am club. I naturally am a morning person, but in the winter when the sun doesn’t come up until 8:00, it’s rough! (I find that my body wakes me up with the sun. In the winter, that means around 7:30, but during the summer my brain likes waking me up at 5:30.)
I started getting up at 7.30 which gives me 1.5 hours before work for the last month and I've loved it. I've had enough sleep by this point but it gives me time to get ready, eat some food, have a cup of tea and do some stretches before starting the day and I feel much more ready and productive
Loved the video ! I want to download the stretch PDF but the link is not working, would be possible to update it ? Thank you Kaltie, keep the good work ❤
To help with my sleep, ive stopped using all social media & technology before bed. Abour 30 mins - an hr before bed, i just read books i enjoy. Not those "self help" or "productivity" books. I like fantasy & fiction books. It helps me read more & get better sleep. Then i put on a cozy sleepy storytime to finish off while i lull off to sleep
I took the extra (possibly drastic lol) step of deleting all my social apps, forcing myself to use socials in my phone browser. It's wayyyyyy harder to get sucked in bc socials aren't very nice in a browser haha
I've been in the 5AM club for a few years now. I am NOT a morning person, so waking up and immediately working out was not happening. I was still too groggy and would skip my workout more often than not (and if I don't' work out in the morning, then I'm not working out-I'll talk myself out of it in the afternoon/evening after work). So what works for me: wake up at 5AM and allow myself to just sit and drink my coffee and watch TV/read a book/scroll on my phone for an hour. Then, at 6, get up and work out. Once I've had an hour to wake up, I'm much more likely to be ready to move. Now, if I went to work later and had more time in the morning, I would absolutely not get up at 5, but alas...
I found this video inspirational--well done! As a night owl, I want to wake up earlier, and making that switch has been difficult. Still not there, but making progress each day. 100% on romanticizing the morning. For me, it's having a cold shower and an Americano while enjoying a piano/classical music playlist. I love this moment so much that I crave it every night. The challenge is that I also romanticize my evening routine so much. Something has to give. I could make my nighttime less enjoyable... Ugh. So hard. :)
Love me some Keltie! I wake up at 5am because that’s the only thing that will give me free time during the day with kids. Hello from a fellow Canadian.
Awesome video!!!! Thank you Keltie ❤ I like trick with morning coffee, and I'm buying a magazine today 😊 instead of evenings scrolling it will be a magazine, in Swedish , to pick up some new words hopefully 😅
As a mom of three, a wife, a mom to furry animals I found they waking up early before my husband and kids has been the best thing I ever did for myself and mental health . I wake up between 430 and 5am everyday . I can Wash my face and do my skincare .. have my coffee while it’s hot and do some stretches , do some bible study and walk my Dog round the block and do things just for me to start my day and by the time everyone else wakes up I feel like I am ready for the whole day and all the things people need of me . I could never go back to sleeping any later .
The Swedish book is just an old dictionary, so nothing weird there 😊 thanks for this video! I think these 5 am wake ups are great, but I wouldn’t want to do it all week - sometimes you just want to stay up late and sleep in. I never sleep longer than til 8, though. But I’m also impressed with how people manage to do all the things in the morning. I need to be out of the house for work by 7, so I get up at 5.30 to have few minutes for myself before I have to wake the kids. But it’s mostly me drinking water, doing 10 mins of yoga or reading 😅
I am starting Esthetic school soon which means I need to be there for 8:30 every Monday Tuesday and Wednesday morning. But my job also requires me to work 3 days a week to stay employed. Sooo I have Thursdays off only, and even then, when I start taking clients I will not have those Thursdays off most likely! So my start of the week will be about 9 hours of school, 2 hours of homework, and 2 hours for me. The rest will have to be sleep and my essentials (eating, driving, sleep, gym, etc.). I am going to have 6 months of constant grind! I will try this method out though since I already wake up at 6:30!
I woke up at 5:00am for months when my pup was a baby. It was amazing. I felt like I had so much time! But he started sleeping later and so did I. Maybe I need to get up early again 🤔
Magazines! Maybe that is the answer to breaking my scrolling. I used to really love magazines and they were satisfying enough that I didn’t have to go shop for everything. I’m going to try a digital magazine at first, and if that doesn’t do it, I’m going to go get, gasp paper!
I had to get up at 5:30am Monday through Friday for about 20 years for work, so this isn't terribly new. I think the difference is if you're able to immediately use that time for betterment/work/self improvement, etc. versus just getting ready for the commute into work where you're driving so the best you can get is maybe podcasts or audio books. Certainly nothing really "productive" while concentrating on traffic. I have to admit, after the 5 years I've been able to wfh, I say 6:00am is my sweet spot. I'd never want to go earlier at this point, as I can now actually use that time for doing stuff I want before I log onto work at 8:00am.
I used to be in the 5 am. club all year round. Now it is just summer time. Best hack for me is, get up duirng the summer to do that run and get through the day, then have a nap before finishing off the evening/night if you have something important or you think you'll be socialising a lot. Shift your working hours if you have flexibility.
I've been waking up at 5am for a month. before that, I consistently woke up at 6am for 1+ years. my favourite hack to actually get out of bed on time is to have several different alarms. I have a sunrise alarm clock to initially wake me up. then I might have a phone alarm (not really recommended). finally, I have an alarm clock with an annoying sound far away from my bed - in my case, in the spot where I need to get dressed. so I am forced to get out of bed to turn this alarm off and, when I do, I am exactly where I need to be to turn my heater on and get dressed. I used to have it in the bathroom (excellent acoustic to make the noise even worse!) but it is cold there in the morning, so I am now directing myself to the heater :D
The biggest hack I've implemented waking up earlier: get a smart light that turns on in your hallway/bathroom/wherever, like 5 minutes before your alarm. I keep my phone outside of my bedroom, so getting up to turn off the alarm and a light is already on, makes it 100% easier to be awake, rather than go back into bed.
I’ve been waking up at 5am for a few years and love it. My tip is get a dog who will not let you miss their breakfast time. My black lab will jump on me at 5am and demand food. I love her and she’s a great motivator to get out of bed 😂
have a big test coming up for work in march and been trying to get up earlier slowly to study more/workout before work. this video came out in perfect time to get my ass motivated
Apart from my natural rhythm of getting to bed late and starting late, I also don't know what to do at 5am. My gym opens at 6:30, I cannot hover my apartment or put on the washing machine and I am not a fan of journalling or similar in the morning, so getting up this early doesn't feel productive to me.
Yay I got my keltie fix! How you doing lady? I am noticing the upper body muscles, omg go you. 4 lb of muscle in a year is amazing 🤩 hello from california
There was a period of my life when I had a fairly chaotic living situation that was impacting my mental health and I started getting up at 5 at least once a week in order to go for a long hike and get started before the crowds descended. It started creeping my bedtime and wake-up time on the other days and I realized that a wind down routine (at that time it was herbal tea, candle, book) and the quiet morning hours were making me feel exponentially better. Unfortunately after moving I found it extremely hard to stick to, especially because I naturally need more than 7 hours so I would have to go to bed very, very early.
Small thing for people who don’t drink coffee or caffeine, I personally really enjoy the LMNT Citrus or Raspberry in HOT water with fresh lemon juice. Maybe kind of odd but I look forward to it. I do 32 oz of water to one packet. Sometimes I brew a couple bags of tea/loose tea in the mix too. Love your videos so much!
I tried this out for a month as a semi night owl who sleeps 1am. The easiest way to get up between 430-6am is to eat less at dinner, and start training 1 hour within waking. I shifted my circadian rhythm within about a week and could wake up without an alarm. The problem was, I could never go to bed early enough and i was starting to get so sleep deprived not even coffee had any effect. I was still sleeping late around 12am but waking 5-6am. Productivity in the morning (beyond working out) was just not possible. My brain was dead, and I ended up taking a nap around lunch. A huge pro - i felt like I was progressing in life more, and was just in a more personal growth mindset. Theres something magical about waking before sunrise and being present. Life flows. Waking up at 7am was too late to have huge benefits. So if i were to do it again, i would wake 530am, or say F it and go back to 9/10am 😂. 7:37 red light filter
I actually found it a lot easier to wake up earlier during the summer, though it probably has to do with climate and latitude since I’m in Southern California. I knew that if I didn’t get up early I wouldn’t be able to do anything outside without sweating my ass off. It was really easy to keep up my running routine by waking up early. Now that it’s winter the last thing I want to do is get up early when it’s dark and cold outside. I’ve been sleeping in a lot more! Personally my biggest hack for being able to go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier is giving up coffee. I always knew I was sensitive to caffeine but I can fall asleep instantly now whereas when I drank coffee every day it would take me 30 mins to an hour every night.
Here are 4 things that actually made bigger difference in my life than waking up at 5am:
1. Fixing my sleep schedule instead of just forcing early mornings - quality over timing
2. I read all books on Mind-bloomery, it seriously changed how I see self-discipline
3. The book "The Calm Within: Cultivating Clarity amid stress and anxiety" really taught me how to manage stress and stay clear-headed
4. Learning to work with my energy levels instead of against them - some days 8am is just fine
Awesome mindset
@peytonlbeyer exactly! She keeps it realistic.
Lol I am a night owl 🦉 so I now work 10p to 6a and a morning person I do now go do cardio before I crawl into bed
many influencers are very egotistical and lack integrity. they will sacrifice a lot to make money and be seen. you can see it in their eyes and general energy. Keltie feels more grounded, earnest and savvy. following modern science and having a humble curiosity in her experimentations. it’s refreshing
@@evedotcom 100%!!!
Yass I just turned 21 and am feeling the same way! bed around 12am awake around 7.30 :)
This is so wholesome and lovely! ❤🥰❤️
Me too! I got a puppy a few weeks ago and I make sure to wake up early enough to walk and play with her before going to the gym on my work days. ☺️
I also have a dog and I wouldn't say it's motivated me to become an early morning person...that's just the reality of my mornings now. If I can sleep in until 8 a.m. on vacation, I'm doing it.
I love that! My cats have helped me become more of a morning person as well. They won't allow it to be any other way.
I agree. Also, getting a dog really made me want to go home after a night out with friends rather than staying up later and possibly falling asleep at someone's place for the night. Cant happen because my pup is waiting for meeee 😄
I love it that you "guinea pig" all these fads for us. Thank you, Keltie! 🌹
I got you all 🫡 Love saving you all time and money
Going to bed at the same time every night for me is key 👌
I stumbled across your channel about a month ago as I was starting my fitness journey, and you’re so inspirational to watch and it’s been keeping me accountable! ❤
Love that you’ve got that routine dialled! 👏🏻
Welcome to the channel!
Having a class is the best hack! Also 4:30!!!! You are a productive queen Jeas 👏🏻 🏆
Hahaha getting repulsed by waking up at 5am on a Saturday is a flex 😂
@ I totally feel that :)
I so relate to you. I also hate the "better than thou" attitude some people who wake up at 5am get (not Keltie ofc
I just absolutely love all these “try it so you don’t have to” videos!
My body already starts feeling ready for bed by that time 😂
Absolutely love this routine for you 👏🏻 you are DIALLED in and I’m so here for it
Keltie, it was so motivating. yeah, balance is key and that we should enjoy life.
you are my biggest motivation queen
I’m so flattered 🥰
“Better” why do they claim to feel better …I can’t keep them awake to watch a movie at 6pm… they fall asleep and it’s action 😂
A time audit is a really good idea. Thanks for the insightful video, as always 😊
I don't how you do this! And test all these things at once you are truly amazing!
The secret to doing everything else is waking up at 5am 😂😂
So much dedication to what you are doing 🎉 I’m obsessed
Thank you Alena!!🩵
Have a great week (its Sunday here :0) )
I just love your videos, I can never resist watching them when they pop up ❤
I love hearing that 🩵
Loved this video Keltie - all of your videos are so well planned out and so informative! BUT i just had to say at like 12:45 under your to-dos “learn how to say Altea” literally had me cracking up 😂 iykyk hahaha
Happy new year, can’t wait for all your videos this year 🤍
Great video Keltie!
My hack to waking up early: put your alarm clock in another room so you have to get up to turn it off, bonus if you turn on a light it helps wake you up faster.
omg keltie i’ve been in the exact same journey lately. i’ve been waking up at 5:30 am for the past month (as a previous night owl) and i never thought i could do this. i just absolutely love how relatable you are so thank you!
this is so real -- thank you for sharing!! I go from the extremes of 5am but not getting the quality sleep to compromise it all! Appreciate this
Thank you, Keltie. Such an important point about boundaries❤❤❤
i just love your personality!! :)
Thank you ☺️
so i’ve been focusing on improving my overall health, and i finally got that doctor’s appointment i’d been putting off. the results came back better than expected-my cholesterol is down, my energy’s up, and i just feel so much more in tune with myself. it’s like everything just clicked once i started putting my energy towards health and well-being. i think it’s thanks to Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, which i read after seeing it mentioned so often in comments. it really helped me shift my mindset and manifest the health i was craving.
I have to get up at 4:15am for work and I absolutely enjoyed watching you share your experience - especially the social part! It feels so weird coming home, eating, taking care of my dogs, showering and going straight to bed!
I am a 5 am girlie and it works really well for me. My schedule includes:
5 am wake up (obviously)
5-5:30 workout
5:30-6 breakfast
6-7 get ready for the day
8:30am-4:30pm school
4:30-5 snack
5-6 walk my dog
7-8 study
8-8:30 read
8:30-9 get ready for bed
9-9:30 bed time
Total sleep: 8h 30m ❤
When do you have dinner
@ I eat chicken or fish with a side salad or other vegetable most days unless I am really busy normally while I study
Your videos have motivated me to get back into taking care of myself
I’ll be honest for a long time I wanted to be the sort to wake up at 5am however I require sun light in the morning as soon as possible. In the uk if you wake up at 5 for half the year you’ll be waiting sometimes up to 4 hours for actual sunlight.
Also trying to wake up earlier if you live with your partner or with family that can easily irritate you it makes it harder or just not desirable. Now I wake up at 8 each day, in bed by 11 and it’s made my life so much better than even trying to wake up at 7
That's what "wake up" lights are for. Lifesaver.
I love that we’re so similar and…. I LOVE THESE TIPS!!! The watching someone driving in the rain is absolutely GENIUS I’m stealing that one 👏🏻
I love how much effort you put into your videos! You really are a very dedicated creator. Thank you! I'm gonna try this btw lol!
You are amazing Keltie 🧡 whenever im in Vancouver im hoping i spot you on one of your runs one day!! :)
I hope we run into eachother! Please come say hi if we do!
@KeltieOConnor 🥰 oh I will! 🥰
I get up at 5 am when I start work at 7 am.
She’s so mesmerizing, can’t get enough.
Keltie, I’m doing more exercise everyday, and which I’m now 169 lbs. Now I lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks.
Amazing Ervin!!! So proud you’re putting your health first and getting that exercise in and seeing 👏🏻
2 ways I structure:
1) week days I plan my heaviest creative moment earlier in the day before lunch as that’s when I’m most creative. Then I usually have a second block around 2-5pm when I know I get that “second win”
2) I don’t work on anything creative or work on weekends, instead I do “creative rejuvenation” which for me is being social getting outside and moving my body. I always have a place to write down all ideas (my iPad or notion in my phone), because the irony is when I’m away from it is when my ideas come 🤣 but I have them all written down to review on Monday!
That’s what works for me
If you don't mind, I would love to see a video step by step of what your morning and night routines use to look like and what they look like now. 😊
Loved the video! Great perspective. 👌
How are you just on point each video! Like i am now cheered up and so productive. Love it! Keep going❤😊
I like this way of 5am wake ups!
The YAAAAAAWWWWN behind you at 2:19 just absolutely SENT ME. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ugh. So hard. :)
FYI shortcut your red filter as a shortcut at wind fine highly recommend, I also do reduce white point too
Love me some Keltie!
Thank you for always being so MFIng relatable!!!!
The answer is absolutely yes. 💯
Maybe this is your sign 😉
I did this too!!!! Now my puppy is 1 and likes to sleep in. I went from up at 5:30 to up at 7:00.🤣
Ordered the chocolate LMNT to try ❤ new to your channel and loved every minute of this video
Seeing you talk about your morning and walking past Posthuset on Vasagatan threw me 😅 That’s where me office is. Felt called out to do a morning audit
Great video as always😄😘👌
