I have to say my favorite morphinominal moment was the very end, just before the dedication to Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank, with the clip from "The Song Of Guitardo", where Kimberly and Zack sing "Down The Road". It made me cry.
Couldn’t hold my tears when they did the tribute for JDF and Thuy Trang. They, as well as all the people from the Ranger Nation that we’ve lost over these astounding 30 years, will truly be missed.
same here. PR was one of the first shows i ever loved as a 4 year old, and i used to even go aroud with my "imaginary friend", Tommy, and pretend to be a ranger myself. Jason's recent passing hit me hard, and i'm still not quite over it. RIP Jason & Thuy. you were, and still are, both loved and missed.
R.I.P. Jason David Frank. He not only stayed in the franchise a bit years later, but kept it alive in other forms, including batinthesun and such. Glad to see that the Power Rangers have a legit connection to each other. I haven't watched since maybe my early 20s, but was never sure if all the Power Rangers were absolutely connected besides the special events.
Wow then you you didn't watch alot. Of course they are all connected. Each season had 1 or 2 episodes where some previous season rangers had to come help. Then, of course, in dino thunder, they learn of the complete history of the rangers up to that point.
@@jcfsaiyan It's connected when it wants to be connected. After the Zordon era finished, little efforts were made in continuity, writers typically ignored the larger universe or how the current season connects to it.
I enjoyed seeing Zack do his Hip-Hop kido again. When I saw the Bulk and Skull poster, I realized that Bulk and Skull are in the food business. Plus, I love how they upgraded the Radbug. Also, I'm surprised to see Adam and Aisha working at SPA, the predecessor to SPD. I noticed Rocky asked Billy if he missed staying on Aquitar.
Also apply the capture rangers are being send to Aquitar I gusse that why they didn't call the alien ranger from Aquitar gusse those ranger are going to camo in cosmic fury
I'd say the best thing about the Special was that they brought back original composer Ron Wasserman to do the score. This was a great way to celebrate 30 years; still hard to believe it's been that long since the franchise began
I want a Once and Always 2!!! Increase the budget, increase the screen time, increase the preproduction for bigger fight choreography! I want to see Billy and Zack lead the cast again, and hopefully we could get Kim and Jason back for a reunion. The original team is iconic

This was made with so much love and care. Any true fan will appreciate this. I hope they do more episodes. There’s still so much more story to tell and potential for universe expansion. Especially with Billy in kind of a Tony Stark like role… So much opportunity to tie this into other ranger teams. Come on Netflix 🙏🏻
I was thinking this would make a great lead-up to a new MMPR series where they pass their powers onto a new team. So my idea was that of course a new threat comes to Earth, maybe we see a huge alien ship heading for Earth and cut to the new bad guys talking about taking over the planet. Then cut to Angel Grove where we see Billy having returned from a visit to Aquitar and has brought his and Cestria's child, let's say they are a boy named David, who is interested in seeing Earth and spending time with his dad, but since he is half alien (looks mostly human but has some distinguishing alien features) Billy makes a wearable device that creates a holographic illusion to make him look fully human. In order to get the full Earthling experience, Billy enrolls David in Angel Grove High, and in the same classes as Minh so she can help David maintain his human disguise. Then the bad guys send down a bunch of goons to attack the city, one place being a museum where David and Minh are having a school field trip, and they both try to distract the goons so their classmates can escape, but three of them get cornered and so David and Minh have to save them, but in order to defeat the goons Minh must morph and David must use his alien powers in front of the three classmates, who agree to keep their secret after they saved them. Then the other Rangers arrive (Jason, Billy, Zack, and Kim; or whoever they get to be the current team), they discuss what's going on, but then a new group of goons and a handful of monsters appear and fight the Rangers, but in the fight Jason, Zack, Billy, and Kim get seriously injured and they have to retreat. So at the command center they talk and the adults realize they are getting too old and rusty to be fighting again, despite their willingness, so they decide to pass the powers onto new, younger people, with Minh being the Yellow Ranger, David becomes Blue, and the three classmates later become Red, Black, and Pink. These new Rangers go fight the monsters and defeat all but one, who is then made big, so they must summon the zords and form the megazord, finally defeating the last monster. Then at the command center, Billy says the new threat may be too strong for their current powers, but he and Alpha had been working on new morphers that give them increased powers and new suits (similar to the original MMPR suits but with an updated look), and the zords are upgraded too. From there this new team takes on the new bad guys, with Billy and Zack, and maybe occasionally the others as cameos, as their mentors. And maybe after several more episodes Kat comes back to Angel Grove (either to visit, or, like with Trini, since JDF is gone, they say Tommy died, not anything major, maybe something as random and mundane as a car crash, and they decide to have the funeral in Angel Grove) and she brings J.J., who then learns his parents were Rangers and then becomes the new Green Ranger. But, all the while during the season, Billy is still trying to bring Zordon back, and so in the finale, when the Rangers are facing a big challenge and may lose, Zordon comes back and gives them more power that helps them win.
The only thing missing from the original MMPR was their Power Blaster, where they combined all their weapons to deliver a final blow to a monster, at least until Rita made the monster big. It would have been cool to see them use that instead of just Zack's axe-blaster to deliver the final shot to Rita, it would have made this all the more complete. 😁
@@cabooseisthevehicledestroy No, they used their weapons in Once&Always, but they never formed the Power Blaster; Minh threw her daggers to pin Robo Rita to the wall and then Zack used his axe-blaster to shoot her; maybe if he had shot her and disabled her but she was still alive, they could then be like, "Ok then, time for the Power Blaster!", and formed the Blaster to finally finish her off.
100% agreed. the power blaster would have been the perfect way for all of them to end her, and get justice for Trini. i loved the "this is for Trini" line, and it only would have been better if they were all in formation for it.
Loved it. Had a blast. Tears. Smiles. Laughs. Being 35 now, it took me through a lot of emotions from childhood to what I’ve dealt with in adulthood. I’m thankful it was able to come out and I was able to see it.
This Netflix special for the 30th anniversary was fantastic and emotional. Those who grew up watching during the 90th, this is for fans. Ending tribute to Trini and Tommy actor got me little emotional.
My inner child was so happy seeing the original power rangers. I couldn't stop crying watching the ending flashback when Kimberly was singing her song "Down the road".
Watched the special as soon as it launched early this morning it brought back so much nostalgia. Though you can tell it was made for the fan who were kids during the original MMPR due to the tone. Like take Rita for example, in the original she'd never say the word "Kill" and she'd only say "destroy". In the special she would tell them she'd straight up kill them many times like she did Trini. It was still just as campy as ever and great, but yeh we all have to admit the tone was just tad darker than a regular Power Ranger special which is something we need more of. I think they should make a separate Power Ranger Series for older fans like this.
I think it was a homage ti 2017 film. But yeah. Classic ranger goofs. They captured Snizzard and Minotaur, but let them live. Wasting time they could have used to destroy them and break the spells. Making Rita lose faster
@@cunningsmile4166it could be argued that if they destroyed Snizzard at that moment, that even if doing so would’ve freed the other rangers, they still would’ve been in Rita’s castle while she was still there. Add in the fact they’ve had their life force drained for a while and they would’ve been in deep trouble before the team would’ve gotten to them
Just finished watching the 30th year anniversary, still can't believe the feeling I first saw the show. Absolutely goosebumps... I really wish if JDF was in the shoe too. Rest in peace legends
I'd give a mention of honor to the used of the song "Down the road" sang by Amy Jo Johnson and Walter Jones, first and only heard in the season 2 episode "The Song of the Guitardo", which got me teary, and has always had a special sentiment since it was used on the previews episode to 2-part episodes "Green No More" where Tommy finally losses for good (back then at least) his green ranger power and in the Guitardo episode Kim and Zack sings that song as gift to Tommy to let him know that with or without powers he'll always be a rangers and a part of the team.
I think Adam and Aisha wearing SPA being predecessors to SPD uniting both timelines it’s such a perfect thing because Dino Thunder, wild force, in space, lost Galaxy, Light Speed, Time Force, Turbo and Zeo are all now United. Which means SPD legit is a huge season in the power ranger world
Uhm, was it ever in Question that they were NOT the same timeline? I mean, sure. OBVIOUSLY SPD got the date WAY off as far as aliens are concerned, and we're probably going to see something like "Oh the dating system was changed to make the galactic calander" in order to retcon it, but I was under the impression that it was generally agreed that there were three universes, and only ONE of them has a screwed up timeline. Probably one of the best Power Rangers movies/specials. I loved how even though some of the first rangers were not there, for various reasons, they still used their voices from some of the old shows to make it seem like they were really there.
I noticed that too when they had Jason, Tommy, Kim and Trini fight, they used archive audio of them fighting to make it appear as it was them. It would also be the reason why they couldn't be there to fight and they had to bring Kat and Rocky to fight instead.
i cant be the only die hard PR fan who would faithfully watch this as a series. a fresh storyline. familiar faces. Netflix give it at least a season or 2. we will watch. i love the special. had a ball in my throat and was bout to cry on some parts.
It was great seeing Zack&Billy back in black and blue( Legendary!.) If only Jason and Kim would have been in it would brought it far and beyond great. I cry when Trini and Tommy was shown! Once and always!

But during the pandemic I actually binged most of the seasons up to about operation overdrive. Time force was my favorite! But what an awesome special for the fans. Loved the tribute as well at the end ❤️
I was born in 1990 so i grew up with this Show man did I love this. Not only the nostalgia but boy did I get emotional. I but I've watched ever season of power rangers right up to the last one. Just crazy how the series changed over time!
Is it weird that I was getting goosebumps the whole time while I was watching this?! So many childhood memories and emotions poured in. Thank you Netflix and all the original actors for coming together and giving us this treat! I felt like this could have easily been a full two house movie and I would enjoy every bit of it!
This special made me feel like I was 8 again seeing Zack back and black made me tear up, also seeing the flashbacks of Trini had me sobbin 😢😢😢😢😢 seeing Minh morphin into the yellow Ranger after she took a bullet from Rita for Billy OMG! I was sobbin! I loved Rocky rotation kick and Kat mentioning JJ😥😥 it's so many Easter eggs for us long time fans of the series
This was proof that David Yost is ready for a mentor come back in a new series. He held the lead very well, and got right back into Billy. I very much have wanted him to return as a mentor since JDF did in Dino Thunder. I wish we had gotten to see more of Adam and Aiesha. They felt shoe horned in. Adam could have temporarily gained the dragonzord power. Having Aiesha help mentor Mhin into becoming the next yellow ranger would have been fantastic. That said, I loved this special. It felt like it was written by fans. The way Robo Rita came back, I had explored that as a possibility but dismissed it thinking it was too out there. The fact that they paid so much attention to the lore and added in all these details, it was so great. I only wish we had gotten to see Bulk and Skulls ranger forms. Even if they were a one off joke in the comics, it would have been a nice tribute, and a great way to include them.

Awesome way that tribute was paid to Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank, it was awesome to see the original cast too, this has so much potential, it should've been longer, felt like that it was rushed, another movie has to be made and be longer. Loved the effects of morphing and teleporting. RIP Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank you both will be greatly missed but never forgotten, this special was very nostalgic, thanks for the old and new memories, Once a Ranger Always a Ranger ! ITS MOPHIN TIME!
The biggest hits for me were around Trini herself. The fact that Billy brings up the heights thing in episode 2 is made even more interesting, as her last word was yelling, "Billy!" Which was recycled audio from that very episode. Add into the fact that she was blown over the side of a cliff, which not only references her (apparently fair) fear of heights, but also how Thui Trang passed in real life... And it made for a truly morphinomenal tribute.
Man, Once and Always was a blast. It was surprisingly emotional at parts, especially that ending. Overall great celebration of all three seasons of Mighty Morphin!
This special was amazing and as unlikely as it is, I hope we see more like this. It’s great seeing David and Walter back in uniform and to see Thuys legacy continue to live on.
I like how Rita was dark in this and less campy and more like she was in Season 1and in the Super Sentai. She became very silly when she married Lord Zedd and we got to see her fight in this special... I love her kicking Trini's Daughter around Barbara Goodson still can do the voice after all these years LOL plus she made Rita sound more menacing and scary love it.
Yes, Rita would unnerve me sometimes as a child, but Robo Rita is how I always expected or thought Rita should always have been! I am 37 and Rita really scared me this time. She unnerved me before I was 10, but this time she really scared me! This is the Rita that fought to conquer the universe! This is the Rita that enslaved whole planets! This is the Rita that trapped Zordon in a time vortex! This is the Rita that joined Lord Zedd! The Z Wave took away all traces of good, leaving this Rita pure evil! If the power rangers had fought this Rita they would have been destroyed, I have no doubt! Being in the dumpster for 10,000 years made her want pay back and it made her evil villian bad, but not pure evil anymore. Also she focused only on the power rangers and Angel Grove, not attacking the whole planet, another thing that helped in defeating her. If she had attacked the capitals and captured heads of government's, it would have made it harder for the power rangers. This time Rita was attacking the whole planet and we know how hard it was for the power rangers even though there were over thirty power rangers now! This Rita could conquer the Earth!

The real Rita has learned her lesson that good magic will always prevail over evil magic .Her son was upset Rita joined the side of good. And this Rita was facing off against the good Rita. The good Rita has her own team of rangers. The Mystic Rangers. This Rita would have never won. The Good Rita would have said good magic always wins against dark magic.
2 things I noticed 1. Tommy's voiceline from that master morpher fight was used in the graveyard fight 2. billy's "second nature" remark to minh about piloting the zord for the first time
While still an awesome Megazord scene I was hoping for Minh to recreate Trini's speech when she first piloted the zord, something around this is amazing I seem to know how to drive this thing (tying in with her struggle to control the Radbug 2 from the earlier scene), but no biggie.
just watched this. For me its a nostalgia overload. Plus as an anime fan. I totally got hyped by hearing Johny's voice and cannot unhear it as Ichigo. Overall? Amazing and so heartfelt.
I teared up a few times during this. I felt it was faithful to the original. Some people complained about the Megazord effects, but I wasn't expecting state of the art special effects.
Power Rangers will live on in our hearts forever since there release on TV back in 1993. This was the most respectful tribute done right. I hope more PPR shows will continue to be made.
Dude this was by far the best special I've seen it was so dope seeing some of the gang together not to mention the fact that they tied up some loose ends from the past which is great
one thing it did do is squash the fan theory of the phantom ranger being billy since we see the phantom ranger captured and shrunk when tanya is added to the collection.
Even with the oversaturated ongoing booming space of nostalgic nerd content there's nothing better than being a kid again 30 yrs later as a 90s kid seeing MMPR still thriving with comics and games along with tv shows while making sure we pay love to the OG cast, love you Watch Mojo, Netflix, and the entire MMPR cast and crew for 30 yrs and more to come rip JDF and T.T. 🙏. We're all in this together as a family grid making sure we're all tied together in the Morphin Grid of life. And in the same year of X-Men 97... the 90s are alive now more than ever.
I was wondering if they were going to mention Billy's alien fishwife. I'm glad that I wasn't disappointed. I always thought it was ironic that Billy ended up with a fishy alien considering that he at one time had a phobia of fish.
It was truly special, and I loved it. It also finally showed us why a ranger can't morph when they are out for revenge as Zordon always told them never to use their powers for revenge and the ending memorial for Thuy and JDF were beautiful too 🖤💗💙💛💖😍👍👍
Nostalgia. i'm crying a lot when see this movies. i'm 27 years old now. so much memories. still following new power rangers series and super sentai series. ! ❤
It wasn't the most perfect episode in the world (I rewatched "Reinforcements from the Future" , "Forever Red" , and "Dimensions in Danger" this week in anticipation) but I am so glad Hasbro decided to make it. Clearly it was made for long time fans but with enough framework to not alienate new or casual viewers. I loved the references and callbacks and what those connections imply about the grander scope of Morphineomenal Mythos that we get as fans, and it was so nice to see our icons back in the spandex! I hope this gets the positive response it deserves because Beast Morphers and Dino Fury have also been keeping legacy fans in mind and I'm so happy to see one of my favorite fictional universes continue to get so much love even though it's out of the zeitgeist
Wish this was a bit longer, and i think it wouldve been cool if Rocky and Kat morphed into their Zeo forms, but i was so happy with this special overall
I guess Zeo isn’t as iconic and memorable as MMPR, and to be fair it was specifically a MMPR reunion. Although when I saw Zeo II in Rita’s machine, part of me was hoping for a Tanya cameo.
They explained how Billy returned to his true age on his last appearance, he went to aquatar they reversed the aging process but during that time he met a female there and that's why he decided to remain in aquatar. It was his final message to the other rangers.
A morphenomenal way to end the reunion with the recreation of the opening that started it all, I'm glad they even used the Redux Version by Ron Wasserman. Go Go Power Rangers to the end!
Loved the special, would been awesome to also see rangers use theirs weapons combined to defeat Rita, the Dragonzord and the Titanus zord, but still enjoyed every minute of the show.
considering the quality of that CGI Megazord im guessing Netlfix didnt give them a large budget to work with. but still other than the CGI it was a good special and i shed a tear or two at the end where they gave tribute to Jason David Frank and Thuy Trang
@@Blu3ManiC the original was a man in a suit which wasnt ideal but hey that was the 80s. The cgi just took me out of it. It was way too cheap for 2023 standsrd i seen college kids make a better cgi. Also the original movie cgi was in its infancy and they used rotoscoping also they didnt have a huge budget for the movie

It’s a robot and a metal lizard fighting in space, you’re simply lying to yourself if you think college kids would do better than what Netflix paid New Zealand animators to do.
I really enjoyed this special, wish it was longer, would have liked to see more about how life has been since they all left, and maybe a little more about how they could connect to the morphing grid now. For this video, I was surprised that you did not bring up Kat discussing JJ, and that this confirms she is his mother, and is with Tommy.
There's no loophole with Billy. We know how he got younger. That's why he went to Aquitar to begin with - the fountain of youth, to de-age him. Made clear in the episode he leaves; We even get a (highly distorted, because it was a different actor) view of him being successfully de-aged in the Viewing Globe - so we know the fountain of youth worked. He stayed on Aquitar for Cestria, but that doesn't mean he couldn't take a trip home to Earth if he ever wanted too. Anyway...another reference that I've not seen many people point out - when the news are covering the Putty attack on Angel Grove, the news reporter works for BuzzBlast - the internet news company that much of Dino Fury is based within, and that in the final episode of Dino Fury announced they were opening a branch in Angel Grove (hence them having a reporter stationed there). It's a nice little nod to the events of Dino Fury.
@@cunningsmile4166 Yup. Which might explain why Bandora protocol is such a big thing. Maybe they know and were expecting Zedd and Rita to unite like old times. They wouldn't mention it in the special though as they wanted it to be self-contained. With Zedd, Rita and the Troobians rising, the Rangers' certainly have their hands-full at this juncture. And while they didn't directly mention it, Billy talking about going on more space adventures is totally a set-up for Cosmic Fury.
Dang they missed one reference about cat and Tommy's kid j.j. who was mentioned in Dino Thunder not to mention they both grow old together in the Christmas special
Considering Adam works for the S.P.A, the predecessor of S.P.D., it would’ve been nice to hear him mention about Bridge (even without a name drop) considering they met alongside with Mystic Green, Ninja Storm Blue, and Dino Thunder Yellow in the Overdrive crossover.
Only just finished the special, it was cheesy campy but damn was it a glorious nostalgia trip. Though I do wonder how Zack balanced being a ranger and congressman, that and have you seen the sandwich Bulk can make who wouldn't want something that big.
the special was more like a 1 hour tribute to trini. i dont think they acknowledge her death in any of the series. this was a nice way to finally pay tribute to one of the greatest rangers ever.

It seemed like a grittier, more dramatic 1 hour episode continuation of the OG series. I understand they went for a more compact cast instead of massive teamups, unlike the previous specials. But i apprecaite what they tried to do. Still a good 30th yr special. Go .. GO! ⚡👊🇵🇭♥️
I liked it a lot better than the RUclips fan one. It had some of the actual cast, but they tried way too hard to be gritty with f bombs every minute. The scene where Zack and Billy were at Trini's about to break the news, that was adult theme I was looking for.
As a Power Ranger fan I can assure you that none of us missed any of these details. in fact There are quite a few details that you missed! Thanks to you I'm inspired to call them out.😊👍
It was a great special. Though I still think it was a missed opportunity for a tie into Cosmic Fury at the end. Considering that the main big bad is Lord Zedd. Overall I enjoyed it. Also, you missed a huge Easter Egg. But only the Sentai fans would get. Bandora is the name of villain in the Sentai MMPR was based off of.
A fantastic special one off 30th anniversary special, I got that warm feeling at many moments, fantastic written with many things left to explain in the future so keeps the franchise going for longer :)
I wish we got the 8 episodes it was suppose to be originally! I hope they extend the series. This is honestly all i wanted for years! And this showed you can take something and update it while holding on to the lire that made it so soecial.
@@JDonzsabres10 Reportedly cuz the character's name was shown alongside the Cosmic Fury cast for the makeup department Cosmic Fury didn't start filming until after they was done with Once and Always
1) Rocky's original rotation kick as shown in this video was a rotation in a different angle than the "redemption" (a vertical rotation than the horizontal one that took him out) 2) it's been a while but when Billy was aged up, I think he was successfully deaged a few years in his closing message, though the storyline was kinda a need to have him at all even if it was for a goodbye story since he walked off set 4 episodes earlier
another nice touch that deserves a mention is when Minh gets those flashes of Trini....one of the clips used included Ernie. Between that & the return of that Youth Center set, it was a nice way to remember both Ernie and his actor Richard Genelle who also passed away years ago. And of course there's the Bandora references....Bandora was the name of Rita's Sentai counterpart, and directly referencing that was a nice way to pay respects to the late Machigo Saika
My favorite part of the movie or special or whatever, is when Rita asks Billy if she was able to outsmart him. That's simply delicious for many reasons but to name the most important two, I'd say is because she recognices him as one of the smartest (if not the smartest) beings of the universe, and by adressing to him, you could conclude that she thinks of the others as almost nothing, but him. He's the one she sees as a real threat, and as an equal, at the very least.
Just finished watching once and always. Such a great nostalgic trip. I feel they respected the og history in a way to bring in new comers who have never watched mmpr

R.I.P. Jason David Frank. He not only stayed in the franchise a bit years later, but kept it alive in other forms, including batinthesun and such. Glad to see that the Power Rangers have a legit connection to each other. I haven't watched since maybe my early 20s, but was never sure if all the Power Rangers were absolutely connected besides the special events.
The character archetype delivered by Tommy Oliver is what founded many of today's heroic personalities.

I enjoyed seeing Zack do his Hip-Hop kido again. When I saw the Bulk and Skull poster, I realized that Bulk and Skull are in the food business. Plus, I love how they upgraded the Radbug. Also, I'm surprised to see Adam and Aisha working at SPA, the predecessor to SPD. I noticed Rocky asked Billy if he missed staying on Aquitar.

I was thinking this would make a great lead-up to a new MMPR series where they pass their powers onto a new team. So my idea was that of course a new threat comes to Earth, maybe we see a huge alien ship heading for Earth and cut to the new bad guys talking about taking over the planet. Then cut to Angel Grove where we see Billy having returned from a visit to Aquitar and has brought his and Cestria's child, let's say they are a boy named David, who is interested in seeing Earth and spending time with his dad, but since he is half alien (looks mostly human but has some distinguishing alien features) Billy makes a wearable device that creates a holographic illusion to make him look fully human. In order to get the full Earthling experience, Billy enrolls David in Angel Grove High, and in the same classes as Minh so she can help David maintain his human disguise. Then the bad guys send down a bunch of goons to attack the city, one place being a museum where David and Minh are having a school field trip, and they both try to distract the goons so their classmates can escape, but three of them get cornered and so David and Minh have to save them, but in order to defeat the goons Minh must morph and David must use his alien powers in front of the three classmates, who agree to keep their secret after they saved them. Then the other Rangers arrive (Jason, Billy, Zack, and Kim; or whoever they get to be the current team), they discuss what's going on, but then a new group of goons and a handful of monsters appear and fight the Rangers, but in the fight Jason, Zack, Billy, and Kim get seriously injured and they have to retreat. So at the command center they talk and the adults realize they are getting too old and rusty to be fighting again, despite their willingness, so they decide to pass the powers onto new, younger people, with Minh being the Yellow Ranger, David becomes Blue, and the three classmates later become Red, Black, and Pink. These new Rangers go fight the monsters and defeat all but one, who is then made big, so they must summon the zords and form the megazord, finally defeating the last monster. Then at the command center, Billy says the new threat may be too strong for their current powers, but he and Alpha had been working on new morphers that give them increased powers and new suits (similar to the original MMPR suits but with an updated look), and the zords are upgraded too. From there this new team takes on the new bad guys, with Billy and Zack, and maybe occasionally the others as cameos, as their mentors. And maybe after several more episodes Kat comes back to Angel Grove (either to visit, or, like with Trini, since JDF is gone, they say Tommy died, not anything major, maybe something as random and mundane as a car crash, and they decide to have the funeral in Angel Grove) and she brings J.J., who then learns his parents were Rangers and then becomes the new Green Ranger. But, all the while during the season, Billy is still trying to bring Zordon back, and so in the finale, when the Rangers are facing a big challenge and may lose, Zordon comes back and gives them more power that helps them win.

The only thing missing from the original MMPR was their Power Blaster, where they combined all their weapons to deliver a final blow to a monster, at least until Rita made the monster big. It would have been cool to see them use that instead of just Zack's axe-blaster to deliver the final shot to Rita, it would have made this all the more complete. 😁

100% agreed. the power blaster would have been the perfect way for all of them to end her, and get justice for Trini. i loved the "this is for Trini" line, and it only would have been better if they were all in formation for it.
Loved it. Had a blast. Tears. Smiles. Laughs. Being 35 now, it took me through a lot of emotions from childhood to what I’ve dealt with in adulthood. I’m thankful it was able to come out and I was able to see it.
This Netflix special for the 30th anniversary was fantastic and emotional. Those who grew up watching during the 90th, this is for fans. Ending tribute to Trini and Tommy actor got me little emotional.

Watched the special as soon as it launched early this morning it brought back so much nostalgia. Though you can tell it was made for the fan who were kids during the original MMPR due to the tone. Like take Rita for example, in the original she'd never say the word "Kill" and she'd only say "destroy". In the special she would tell them she'd straight up kill them many times like she did Trini. It was still just as campy as ever and great, but yeh we all have to admit the tone was just tad darker than a regular Power Ranger special which is something we need more of. I think they should make a separate Power Ranger Series for older fans like this.

But yeah. Classic ranger goofs. They captured Snizzard and Minotaur, but let them live. Wasting time they could have used to destroy them and break the spells. Making Rita lose faster

I'd give a mention of honor to the used of the song "Down the road" sang by Amy Jo Johnson and Walter Jones, first and only heard in the season 2 episode "The Song of the Guitardo", which got me teary, and has always had a special sentiment since it was used on the previews episode to 2-part episodes "Green No More" where Tommy finally losses for good (back then at least) his green ranger power and in the Guitardo episode Kim and Zack sings that song as gift to Tommy to let him know that with or without powers he'll always be a rangers and a part of the team.
It was a great sendoff for the Green Ranger Powers, and the original 6 ranger formula that we knew and loved 💚
We truly need more of these specials...

I mean, sure. OBVIOUSLY SPD got the date WAY off as far as aliens are concerned, and we're probably going to see something like "Oh the dating system was changed to make the galactic calander" in order to retcon it, but I was under the impression that it was generally agreed that there were three universes, and only ONE of them has a screwed up timeline.

Probably one of the best Power Rangers movies/specials. I loved how even though some of the first rangers were not there, for various reasons, they still used their voices from some of the old shows to make it seem like they were really there.

I noticed that too when they had Jason, Tommy, Kim and Trini fight, they used archive audio of them fighting to make it appear as it was them. It would also be the reason why they couldn't be there to fight and they had to bring Kat and Rocky to fight instead.

i cant be the only die hard PR fan who would faithfully watch this as a series. a fresh storyline. familiar faces. Netflix give it at least a season or 2. we will watch. i love the special. had a ball in my throat and was bout to cry on some parts.
It was great seeing Zack&Billy back in black and blue( Legendary!.) If only Jason and Kim would have been in it would brought it far and beyond great. I cry when Trini and Tommy was shown! Once and always!

I was sobbin! I loved Rocky rotation kick and Kat mentioning JJ😥😥 it's so many Easter eggs for us long time fans of the series
This was proof that David Yost is ready for a mentor come back in a new series. He held the lead very well, and got right back into Billy. I very much have wanted him to return as a mentor since JDF did in Dino Thunder.
I wish we had gotten to see more of Adam and Aiesha. They felt shoe horned in. Adam could have temporarily gained the dragonzord power. Having Aiesha help mentor Mhin into becoming the next yellow ranger would have been fantastic.
That said, I loved this special. It felt like it was written by fans. The way Robo Rita came back, I had explored that as a possibility but dismissed it thinking it was too out there. The fact that they paid so much attention to the lore and added in all these details, it was so great. I only wish we had gotten to see Bulk and Skulls ranger forms. Even if they were a one off joke in the comics, it would have been a nice tribute, and a great way to include them.
If part 2 gets made, Aisha can train Minh. Who knows? Anything's possible

Awesome way that tribute was paid to Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank, it was awesome to see the original cast too, this has so much potential, it should've been longer, felt like that it was rushed, another movie has to be made and be longer. Loved the effects of morphing and teleporting. RIP Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank you both will be greatly missed but never forgotten, this special was very nostalgic, thanks for the old and new memories, Once a Ranger Always a Ranger ! ITS MOPHIN TIME!

The biggest hits for me were around Trini herself. The fact that Billy brings up the heights thing in episode 2 is made even more interesting, as her last word was yelling, "Billy!" Which was recycled audio from that very episode. Add into the fact that she was blown over the side of a cliff, which not only references her (apparently fair) fear of heights, but also how Thui Trang passed in real life... And it made for a truly morphinomenal tribute.
Man, Once and Always was a blast. It was surprisingly emotional at parts, especially that ending. Overall great celebration of all three seasons of Mighty Morphin!
This special was amazing and as unlikely as it is, I hope we see more like this. It’s great seeing David and Walter back in uniform and to see Thuys legacy continue to live on.
You got all the way through number 1 without mentioning what made it truly great the fact that they brought back Ron wasserman to do it.

I like how Rita was dark in this and less campy and more like she was in Season 1and in the Super Sentai. She became very silly when she married Lord Zedd and we got to see her fight in this special... I love her kicking Trini's Daughter around Barbara Goodson still can do the voice after all these years LOL plus she made Rita sound more menacing and scary love it.
This PURE Evil Rita. Like Lord Drakkon evil. Queen Bansheera. Mesogog. Venjix. That kind of evil.
Yes, Rita would unnerve me sometimes as a child, but Robo Rita is how I always expected or thought Rita should always have been! I am 37 and Rita really scared me this time. She unnerved me before I was 10, but this time she really scared me! This is the Rita that fought to conquer the universe! This is the Rita that enslaved whole planets! This is the Rita that trapped Zordon in a time vortex! This is the Rita that joined Lord Zedd! The Z Wave took away all traces of good, leaving this Rita pure evil! If the power rangers had fought this Rita they would have been destroyed, I have no doubt! Being in the dumpster for 10,000 years made her want pay back and it made her evil villian bad, but not pure evil anymore. Also she focused only on the power rangers and Angel Grove, not attacking the whole planet, another thing that helped in defeating her. If she had attacked the capitals and captured heads of government's, it would have made it harder for the power rangers. This time Rita was attacking the whole planet and we know how hard it was for the power rangers even though there were over thirty power rangers now! This Rita could conquer the Earth!

The real Rita has learned her lesson that good magic will always prevail over evil magic .Her son was upset Rita joined the side of good. And this Rita was facing off against the good Rita. The good Rita has her own team of rangers. The Mystic Rangers. This Rita would have never won. The Good Rita would have said good magic always wins against dark magic.
Actually it makes sense that Zack was the one to take care of Minh because in the comics Zack and Trini were in a relationship.

2 things I noticed
1. Tommy's voiceline from that master morpher fight was used in the graveyard fight
2. billy's "second nature" remark to minh about piloting the zord for the first time
While still an awesome Megazord scene I was hoping for Minh to recreate Trini's speech when she first piloted the zord, something around this is amazing I seem to know how to drive this thing (tying in with her struggle to control the Radbug 2 from the earlier scene), but no biggie.

I teared up a few times during this. I felt it was faithful to the original. Some people complained about the Megazord effects, but I wasn't expecting state of the art special effects.

one thing it did do is squash the fan theory of the phantom ranger being billy since we see the phantom ranger captured and shrunk when tanya is added to the collection.

Even with the oversaturated ongoing booming space of nostalgic nerd content there's nothing better than being a kid again 30 yrs later as a 90s kid seeing MMPR still thriving with comics and games along with tv shows while making sure we pay love to the OG cast, love you Watch Mojo, Netflix, and the entire MMPR cast and crew for 30 yrs and more to come rip JDF and T.T. 🙏. We're all in this together as a family grid making sure we're all tied together in the Morphin Grid of life. And in the same year of X-Men 97... the 90s are alive now more than ever.

I was wondering if they were going to mention Billy's alien fishwife. I'm glad that I wasn't disappointed.
I always thought it was ironic that Billy ended up with a fishy alien considering that he at one time had a phobia of fish.
I know the ending had me tear up!!!! Especially when they showed trini and Tommy once a ranger, always a ranger😢😢
It was truly special, and I loved it. It also finally showed us why a ranger can't morph when they are out for revenge as Zordon always told them never to use their powers for revenge and the ending memorial for Thuy and JDF were beautiful too 🖤💗💙💛💖😍👍👍
Nostalgia. i'm crying a lot when see this movies. i'm 27 years old now. so much memories. still following new power rangers series and super sentai series. ! ❤
It wasn't the most perfect episode in the world (I rewatched "Reinforcements from the Future" , "Forever Red" , and "Dimensions in Danger" this week in anticipation) but I am so glad Hasbro decided to make it. Clearly it was made for long time fans but with enough framework to not alienate new or casual viewers. I loved the references and callbacks and what those connections imply about the grander scope of Morphineomenal Mythos that we get as fans, and it was so nice to see our icons back in the spandex!
I hope this gets the positive response it deserves because Beast Morphers and Dino Fury have also been keeping legacy fans in mind and I'm so happy to see one of my favorite fictional universes continue to get so much love even though it's out of the zeitgeist
Another thing to point out: how limber and agile the updated megazord is compared to its first season.

They explained how Billy returned to his true age on his last appearance, he went to aquatar they reversed the aging process but during that time he met a female there and that's why he decided to remain in aquatar. It was his final message to the other rangers.
I was very upset that Zack wasn’t Minh Kwan father I believe the writers missed a big opportunity with that part of the storyline.
A morphenomenal way to end the reunion with the recreation of the opening that started it all, I'm glad they even used the Redux Version by Ron Wasserman.

Loved the special, would been awesome to also see rangers use theirs weapons combined to defeat Rita, the Dragonzord and the Titanus zord, but still enjoyed every minute of the show.
considering the quality of that CGI Megazord im guessing Netlfix didnt give them a large budget to work with. but still other than the CGI it was a good special and i shed a tear or two at the end where they gave tribute to Jason David Frank and Thuy Trang

@@Blu3ManiC the original was a man in a suit which wasnt ideal but hey that was the 80s. The cgi just took me out of it. It was way too cheap for 2023 standsrd i seen college kids make a better cgi. Also the original movie cgi was in its infancy and they used rotoscoping also they didnt have a huge budget for the movie

It’s a robot and a metal lizard fighting in space, you’re simply lying to yourself if you think college kids would do better than what Netflix paid New Zealand animators to do.

I really enjoyed this special, wish it was longer, would have liked to see more about how life has been since they all left, and maybe a little more about how they could connect to the morphing grid now. For this video, I was surprised that you did not bring up Kat discussing JJ, and that this confirms she is his mother, and is with Tommy.
I love these throwback shows that bring back the OGs. Cobra Kai kinda brought back that sense of "nostalgia continuation."
There's no loophole with Billy. We know how he got younger. That's why he went to Aquitar to begin with - the fountain of youth, to de-age him. Made clear in the episode he leaves; We even get a (highly distorted, because it was a different actor) view of him being successfully de-aged in the Viewing Globe - so we know the fountain of youth worked. He stayed on Aquitar for Cestria, but that doesn't mean he couldn't take a trip home to Earth if he ever wanted too.
Anyway...another reference that I've not seen many people point out - when the news are covering the Putty attack on Angel Grove, the news reporter works for BuzzBlast - the internet news company that much of Dino Fury is based within, and that in the final episode of Dino Fury announced they were opening a branch in Angel Grove (hence them having a reporter stationed there). It's a nice little nod to the events of Dino Fury.
That reminds me. Zedd is still out there when this is happenings
@@cunningsmile4166 Yup. Which might explain why Bandora protocol is such a big thing. Maybe they know and were expecting Zedd and Rita to unite like old times. They wouldn't mention it in the special though as they wanted it to be self-contained.
With Zedd, Rita and the Troobians rising, the Rangers' certainly have their hands-full at this juncture.
And while they didn't directly mention it, Billy talking about going on more space adventures is totally a set-up for Cosmic Fury.
Dang they missed one reference about cat and Tommy's kid j.j. who was mentioned in Dino Thunder not to mention they both grow old together in the Christmas special
Considering Adam works for the S.P.A, the predecessor of S.P.D., it would’ve been nice to hear him mention about Bridge (even without a name drop) considering they met alongside with Mystic Green, Ninja Storm Blue, and Dino Thunder Yellow in the Overdrive crossover.
Just watched it! 36yr old man got emotional so much nostalgia, loved it.
Only just finished the special, it was cheesy campy but damn was it a glorious nostalgia trip. Though I do wonder how Zack balanced being a ranger and congressman, that and have you seen the sandwich Bulk can make who wouldn't want something that big.

the special was more like a 1 hour tribute to trini. i dont think they acknowledge her death in any of the series. this was a nice way to finally pay tribute to one of the greatest rangers ever.
Actually one episode of Power Rangers Time Force was dedicated to Thuy Trang at the end.

It seemed like a grittier, more dramatic 1 hour episode continuation of the OG series. I understand they went for a more compact cast instead of massive teamups, unlike the previous specials. But i apprecaite what they tried to do. Still a good 30th yr special. Go .. GO! ⚡👊🇵🇭♥️
I liked it a lot better than the RUclips fan one. It had some of the actual cast, but they tried way too hard to be gritty with f bombs every minute. The scene where Zack and Billy were at Trini's about to break the news, that was adult theme I was looking for.
As a Power Ranger fan I can assure you that none of us missed any of these details. in fact There are quite a few details that you missed! Thanks to you I'm inspired to call them out.😊👍
This special proved for me that it's time to completely reboot the franchise. 30 years is long enough.
It was a great special. Though I still think it was a missed opportunity for a tie into Cosmic Fury at the end. Considering that the main big bad is Lord Zedd. Overall I enjoyed it.
Also, you missed a huge Easter Egg. But only the Sentai fans would get. Bandora is the name of villain in the Sentai MMPR was based off of.
2020s are bringing back the most evil and Vile of villains.

A fantastic special one off 30th anniversary special, I got that warm feeling at many moments, fantastic written with many things left to explain in the future so keeps the franchise going for longer :)
I wish we got the 8 episodes it was suppose to be originally! I hope they extend the series. This is honestly all i wanted for years! And this showed you can take something and update it while holding on to the lire that made it so soecial.
This special make me more excited to see Billy in Cosmic Fury.

This was such a great throwback movie....they kept everything from my childhood.
1) Rocky's original rotation kick as shown in this video was a rotation in a different angle than the "redemption" (a vertical rotation than the horizontal one that took him out) 2) it's been a while but when Billy was aged up, I think he was successfully deaged a few years in his closing message, though the storyline was kinda a need to have him at all even if it was for a goodbye story since he walked off set 4 episodes earlier
another nice touch that deserves a mention is when Minh gets those flashes of Trini....one of the clips used included Ernie. Between that & the return of that Youth Center set, it was a nice way to remember both Ernie and his actor Richard Genelle who also passed away years ago. And of course there's the Bandora references....Bandora was the name of Rita's Sentai counterpart, and directly referencing that was a nice way to pay respects to the late Machigo Saika
Give some love to the unspoken MVP of the special, Mr. Ron Wasserman!

This was so much fun and I'm so glad that they did it in the way that they did.
My favorite part of the movie or special or whatever, is when Rita asks Billy if she was able to outsmart him. That's simply delicious for many reasons but to name the most important two, I'd say is because she recognices him as one of the smartest (if not the smartest) beings of the universe, and by adressing to him, you could conclude that she thinks of the others as almost nothing, but him. He's the one she sees as a real threat, and as an equal, at the very least.
The special was AMAZING!!! We want more ❤
