I think Star Fox 64 really deserves more credit for being one of the first major games to have really high-quality voice acting. We all know about how infamously corny a lot of the acting was in the early days of games having recorded audio (Resident Evil, House of the Dead, basically every Sega CD game), but SF64, as well as Metal Gear Solid the year after it, really set a benchmark that established that games can, and should, have dialogue on par with your average movie or TV show.
just imagine your partner as you make love, exclaiming your name mid-orgasm. if you don't have one, imagine one. if you're some kinda non-binary asex, imagine your partner opened the freezer to discover you bought them their favorite frozen dessert in rapturous delight. imagine all schools of all ages this way. preschoolers with this stunning basso profundo. at the maternity ward? the first noise babies make upon entering this world? this man's voice. and the monkey's paw curls.
Ja Green did a great job as multiple characters (most of them bosses) and as the Narrator of the Intro. His most memorable role is, of course, being the Engineer of the Forever Train on Macbeth.
I’ll never forget playing this as a 6 year old in my toy room, by myself, and getting to the Andross battle. It would scare me so much, but after defeating him, Fox’s dad would talk to you as you were making your escape, and that would comfort me just like my dad would when I was scared back then. I’ll never forget the memories I had as a kid with my N64. I’m 31 now and have a 3 year old boy and newborn boy. Life is a vapor.
Ha, I'm 34 now. Dad's been gone for 9 years now, I don't have any kids. He was a stern military man but knew how to comfort when it counted. Also reminded me of Fox's dad. Glad we could share some memories.

HOODZ: This was the first major game I played with voice acting and compared to many others at the time, while there is little corniness here and there in this game, for the most part, I find it pretty damn solid. Mike West as Fox especially being a delight for me. I love that he has a tone of youth and some inexperience in how he sounds, but can still sounds like a good leader and can still delivered some badass lines in a very solid way.
almost all the lines are delivered flawlessly its insane, and even if it is (and its meant to be) cheesy its still fun and memorable dialogue precisely because of it. I dont think any of its sequels or fan games really have topped it since. Hell, even the remake couldn't top the original voicelines.
Upon their arrival, Pigma betrayed Andross, and James betrayed Peppy, and the evil, maniacal, barren, deserted James’ son, Fox betrayed his fate, and the team betrayed Pigma Dengar!
I was simultaneously in love with and scared AF of this game. I would get to Venom and hand the controller over to my brother cause it was too scary for me lol.
Should have had the music play. I understand that you wanted to showcase the uncompressed audio but it's too easy to tell with this game. Good stuff nonetheless.
I completely disagree, though Dennis and Ja Green both have deep voices, Dennis’ voice is a bit lighter and he has a New York accent, while Ja’s voice is deeper, and sounds more like George Sanders than Dennis Prager IMO. That’s just from my perspective though.
