How technological change isn't Cyclical ? It immediately lowers the demand and even the liers like Elon Musk say jobs are happening but takes "some time". And we all know that "some time" most probably means never in most employees life time.
Technological change lowers the demand for certain types of labor, but usually is accompanied by increased overall demand and spending in the economy, thus unemployment arising from technological change cannot be considered "cyclical" since it does not correspond with a contraction of the business cycle. It's a matter of definition.
Not to say unemployment arising from technological change is not difficult and has consequences for those it affects, because it certainly is and does.
Jason Welker Artificial intelligence as an example will eradicate most jobs when it reaches the point of singularity, when an artificial intelligent entity starts to have some signs of self guidance, we will no longer be the dominant species. Let alone unemployment
Good point!
Jason Welker Thank you, I'm a recruitment officer by the way
