It's just him, his guitar, and his clear and warm vocals.. Man I badly wish he had done a solo acoustic album.

The two gentlemen in the orange suits are Teddy and Doyle Wilburn. They had a syndicated 30 minute show from the early 60s to the early 70s. My Mom and Dad and I watched the show when I was a kid on Saturday afternoon. They sing really well too. They helped launch the career of Loretta Lynn.

Love the story behind "He stopped lovin' her today". When the writers first showed him the lyrics his response was "That thing'll never sell. It's too damn sad." Years later after it became the monster hit of his career George said "Boy, was I wrong."

Once many years ago I was sitting at a traffic light and there was car next to me with a man driving with perfectly groomed white hair. When the light changed and the car pulled away, I noticed the tag said No Show. It was then I realized it was George Jones.

Your comment about how George Jones looking like Woody made me realize as I've been going through your reactions, you haven't done anything by the Riders in the Sky yet! They're the ones who wrote and sang "Woody's Roundup" for Toy Story 2, as well as other work for Pixar. They have some excellent songs covering quite a few of the old western hits in a fun way. Their version of "You've Got a Friend in Me" is my favorite interpretation, partly because it feels like they're singing it both to each other and the audience! I highly recommend the album that includes Woody's Roundup, for which they won a Grammy.

When you get a chance check out Morgan Wallen. He is the modern version of George Strait, prolific song writer and great lyricist/try teller like Strait. I'd recommend a couple new songs not yet hits 'Wine into Water' and 'Think about Me' or of course one of his many hits.
