  • Acquapendente to Bolsena (1 day; 24.7 km)
The largest volcanic lake in Europe deserves more respect, but we manage to mangle its name repeatedly (it’s “Lago di Bolsena” NOT “Bolseno”). If you can get over our indiscretion, you might enjoy our day-long stroll over rolling fields, through forests and, of course, with views of the lake. Call it the lake’s revenge, but our destination-the castellated-cum-seaside town of Bolsena-is chilly (but charming). Savour with us (dressed in our warm, puffy jackets) a multi-course fish dinner and paccheri pasta in a fine restaurant that hovers over Lago di Bolsena.

Lago di Bolsena - A hidden gem in Italy. The street you were walking on down to the lake, Via Colesanti, hosts numerous festivals every summer. Can't wait to go back...

Hi guys we just found your channel and watched a few of your videos especially the one where give the background as to how you got to your stage four on the via. Great to hear western Canadian accents on the Via! My wife and I had planned to cover the whole Via in 2022 from London to Rome. We bought a couple of cheap bikes in Calais to try to make it to Rome within the 90 days tourist visa but like you we had to go home that year after my wife wiped out in a parking lot in Reims. Had a similar experience with absolutely wonderful French folks who helped us out and made sure we finally visited a French hospital. Anyway we had to quit that year and came back in August 2023 and finally walked into the Vatican, much skinnier and more weather beaten than when I started, in November. The next plan for fall 2025 is to walk from that cursed Reims parking lot to St Jean Pied de Port to connect the two Caminos we have done so far. Its great to follow you as it really keep us wanting to get back on the trail. Kind of addictive isn't it?

Another scenic and tasty video. I just wish the party people were less boisterous! But it was good to hear folks enjoying themselves beside Lake Bolsena.

It was definitely noisy but we enjoyed the lively banter. Everyone seemed to know each other.
