i cleaned my cartridges a month ago we just had a couple of days of dust stroms and my pool struggled. i had to clean it 3 times then cleaned the cartridges again today.
Dude, you are the man! I just started a new job servicing pools in the Mesa/Gilbert area and feel kinda overwhelmed with all the different types of pool system configurations. Luckily I found your channel and have been binging your vids, which is making things a lot easier to grasp. Thank you for doing what you do and keep up the great work, you have the most comprehensive channel of pool tips on RUclips and I hope to someday be as knowledgeable as you are!
Matt Walterman Congratulations on your new job! Glad my videos and channel are helpful. And thank you for your kind comments. I would truly appreciate you sharing my channel with folks do you know who have pools.
@@PoolSchooler I figured if I left it on all the dirt would collect on my cartridge filter. Once the dust storm is over I would use my pool vacuum and my net to collect all the debris.
@@chriscontreras5526 you realize that when you use your pool, vacuum and vacuum your pool manually all that dirt goes into your cartridge filter anyway. And that’s what the filter is for to capture dirt. When you have big dust storms, it’s just the nature of the beast that you’re gonna have to clean your cartridges a little more often, but I have clients out here in Arizona with cartridge filters and even with the dust storms that we have and some of them are huge, we clean them once every six months and they’re fine
Not surprising especially if you have a lot of dusty areas around your home/community. Also as your cartridges age they need to be cleaned more often. This video will help you know when and if you need to replace your cartridges: ruclips.net/video/7j41LwqldS8/видео.html
Oh my. I've had a few "beater" trucks. I had an old Nissan XE 4 cylinder. I've done pools in a dodge Neon. In a Dodge D-50 truck. In an old Dodge Dakota (not a fan) and now I use an old Ford F-150 6 cylinder. You don't need anything fancy. Just something reliable.
I've had some experience with skimmer socks and am not a fan at all. They restrict the flow of water too much which is harder on your equipment and hurts the effectiveness of your filter and cleaning. And I've not know them to do any real good. So I'd say, don't waste your money.
I put a pool sock on my skimmer basket and it caught alot of gunk BUT it sucked the skimmer basket way deep down into the space and I had to crack the basket to remove it. Im glad I checked it after a short time before any damage was done. No more socks for me!!
Great channel!!...I have a question....I just cleaned my filters (they were quite filthy) and put everything back together...I thought that would fix the pressure issue I have had....nothing!....my gauge has been replaced recently but it doesn't register any pressure after I button everything up.....now even before my cleaning the pressure barely registered (like 1lb psi).....any ideas??....thanks!!
Hmmm. Are you getting good flow (suction and return)? AND does your pump (see the lid) fill up completely and does it stay full after the motor is off for awhile?
Pool School - Yes the pump stay full when on and I don’t see bubbles in the window....I bled the filter housing after I put it all back together....my pool vacuum work perfectly when set both full suction and partial suction.... both the skimmer basket and the pump basket have debris in them that I have cleaned out and my filters were very dirty I am embarrassed to say....but even after I cleaned them this am the pressure didn’t change....I don’t see any leaks on any of the fittings or valves either...
@@par5ntoo Ok, so my best guess is either you got a faulty new pressure gauge or somethings blocking the gauge. I'd suggest removing it and checking for obstructions (sometime the teflon tape or even a piece of debris can clog it and cause that issue. If it's completely clear then it has to be a bad gauge. Let me know what you find out.
@@PoolSchooler Ok I will check that, I went out last night and looked again and noticed when i turned the pump back on nothing happened (pump came on but water feature and vacuum didn't do anything) I opened the bleed valve on top of the filter tank bled off the air which took about 5 mins and then the feature and vacuum started working....if its a closed system then how is air getting back into it without opening anything up???....thanks!
You can't really. Dust is in the air and it settles in the pool daily. When the vac/pump runs it vacuums it up then the dust in the air settles and it's back (but it's not the same dust that was vacuumed).
I'm happy to advise. Basically if your current Pebble Tech is less than 10 years old and the "damage" is minimal (ie: cracks only or minor small chunks out) then I'd suggest repair. BUT if your pebble tec is older than 10 years and the damage is more extensive, like big chunks of it falling off and large cracks with quite a bit of space between then I'd highly recommend Pebble Tec resurfacing. ALSO, if you don't like how repaired cracks look (they aren't as aesthetically pleasing to the eye) then it probably would be best to resurface. Pebble tec should come with at least a 5 year warranty. But should last between 10-15 years (some suggest up to 20 years).
Pool School 23 years! There are only cracks above the waterline on the roll beam. These cracks and did not occur until late 2018. I think the super hard dig that we experienced in Fountain Hills kept things pretty tight.
@@antred4597 Ah, rolled edges are notorious for cracking. It's one of the reasons most pool builders I know of don't do them anymore. I had one client who had a rolled edge and it began cracking and it only got worse. Unfortunately that's a pretty visible area and patching won't look too great even if it's done well. You may want to shop around for companies who do repair pebble tec and have them show you some examples of the repairs they've done. Then at least you can decide to go for the repair or just resurface completely. NOTE: because you have the rolled edge you may unfortunately have the same issue in time with even a resurface. You may want to have the edge redone to eliminate the "rolled" part before you resurface the pool.

We have dust storms here in Arizona and It's always a bummer when I see one coming in. I know my pools are going to be a mess.

I run my VS pump 24 hours. Should I turn my pump off during a dust storm until it clears then take the steps you mentioned.
NO! I wouldn't turn your pump off during a dust storm. Why let all that dust collect in the pool and settle to the bottom.
