- I couldn't not try it. I've been thinking for a year now that anything over a 6m is just too big, with diminishing returns. So I tried it. This was the session. yup. Thanks Rolando for the wing, the footage, and of course, the laughs :P

nice video and really nice beach!! I am in the process of buying a Duotone Slick 6.5m, it's the largest I will go to. I am 88kg I also like the thought of the bar system after being an ex windsurfer. I currently have a gong 5m and the light winds here in the Mediterranean sea in summer, it's just not enough.
Sweet Dan! I started with the boom, and when I see my friend Brian out there with it, it really makes me miss it cause he makes it look so smooth and fluid. The only reason why I went to something else was at the time it was winter, I was new to winging, and with gloves and being new and the cold it was really hard to hold on - the forearm fatigue was real. But I’m guessing that won’t be a problem in the Mediterranean! I love how those wings are so tight, the 6.5m will be your light wind Excalibur. My 6m Stike comes any day now... it’s been 3 months without a 6m and I’m so stoked to get one back in the quiver!

I’m also wondering about his Armstrong board with those tail cut outs. I read the web site for your foil machines custom and he makes the case for squared off tail without cutouts for better pumping. Just like the F-ONE boards. Thoughts?
I’ve tried my friend Rics board but not with my foils. I think I prefer that tail, I felt like I could put more weight on my back foot while getting up and I think I could use that to my advantage for balance. At least that’s what it seemed like. I’ll be trying one this year, I’m still deliberating on size.
Agreed with the "flapping" wing...I tried the Cabrinha 7M in the same day and felt like it was better then my 7.5 Gong...But good question....do we want to be out there in a low wind day? We can go Sup surfing, or Foil surfing...then if there is no waves and no wind...then what to do?? An Efoil brother...there is where I'm going soon lol...How did you like the "butt cam shot" lol...Great to see you bud.

Boar with less volume and a smaller foil and a smaller wing and you manage to go out and foil. The main reason is that you were used to it?

Different boards do different things. More volume means more float, but could also mean more resistance when travelling in the water, which could prevent you from getting up to speed in light winds. the 2400 is a GREAT low wind and beginning wing. BUT my buddy had a 300 stabilizer with some weird shim... it had a lot of noticeable resistance compared to the 232 which is just a lower profile. So that FELT like a factor. But in the end I'm just really used to my setup and I think I'm pretty efficient with it. The combo of having a wing that was tighter and faster to pump, plus the 1850 has nearly as much lift as the 2400, but I can also kind of pump it as well which seems to help in these light wind situations. When hand pumping I kind of pump my feet as well and I think with the 1850 I've been able to find a happy medium. And for what it's worth, my board is small but the float is in all the right places and it gets up to speed pretty well so that could be a factor too, but my money is on the 1850/smaller hand wing pumping combo. ok i'm done...

I love a good 6m!! So bummed to hear the v2 Swing isn’t coming in a 6 this year (just a 5 and a 5.5) so I guess I need to get a Strike with extra struts. So many sessions lately I’ve been missing a 6m! Glad you dig the Takoon!
For a wind range 8 to 16knts, 96kg, windsurf experienced sailor, what do you advise? With an inflatable board...
100L to 115L. I've noticed a lot of inflatables are like barges in the water, so more volume could make them harder to get up to speed and on foil in light winds. But I think/hope the designs are getting better. I'd always recommend a non-inflatable but there are tons of reasons they make sense, I live in a city, so I get the storage issue.

I have heard this same flappy complaint about the first gen Gong 7m, I figured they would have addressed it by now. Saw my first Strike in the wild a couple days ago, a 6m could be a weapon!

I own a 7.5 and iam happy with 7.5-8psi, 6psi was not enough as mentioned in the other clip,the compared cabrinha recommends 7.5 to 8 in manual....with 6psi both are not working well
It seems that above 6m benefits are not really worth it for a 10-12 kts sesh. Were you using the 95L board?
That’s def my opinion but I could see the market getting better. The Gong wings are heavy and flappy on the trailing edge, I think if you could make them more rigid it *could* work. 12knts is the lowest I can go these days. This was on a 95L and my 71L. Once you get better, a lower volume board can be your friend in all situations, to a point at least.
How many knots did you actually have!
Prolly 13-14mph when I had the Strike. I do think it was slightly less with the 7.5 but no much... so maybe 10-12mph?
I had a similar experience up here in Maine today. It was 8 kts by my meter, and I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten on foil in 9 before with my 6M starboard, but not today. I felt like even between the 5-6 meter, the decreased ability to pump due to less psi and increased size reduces the 6’s effective range. If I start using my 5 at 12kts, then it’s good for 9-11, which isn’t much range. Do you know what the wind speed was?
What’s up Michael! I think it was like 10mph on avg and then started to pick up a little at one point to around 14. 14 is my sweet spot with my gear. The last 6m I had said blow it up to 6psi but that was bull and I pumped mine to 11 every time and it worked much better. 6psi is crazy low. And for those big LE wings you want it to be solid. I prefer small wings but I’m excited to have a 6m back in the quiver when they come out!
@@OCEANBOUND1 my starboard/airush 6 says 4PSI!! Yeah, no wonder it was as useful as a wet noodle. I’ll try upping the pressure next time, since it’s a bit useless.
Just try 7.5 psi + on the sp 7.5, the fronttube is thinner than 2020, so it needs some pressure to work well...
Pretty sure he pumps his higher but I totally agree, pump your big wings to 8-10psi. That's what I pumped my old Swing to (they recommended 6psi) and the Strike (8psi recommended).
I stick to 8 psi and take care not to leave it in sun without use...10 is too much on the large wings, for a 5m maybe ok vecause of thinner fronttube
