Think whatever you want, I found Trump's presidency quite illuminating, and it not only exceeded expectations but also benefited the majority of US citizens. Especially when compared to the current administration.
I thought the premise of the show was stupid from the get. Nobody who runs an actual business runs their hiring process as an overly dramatic game show. Initially I didn’t believe people would think it was real and then dismayed when so many fell for it hook line and sinker.

Before this, I could not understand how that many people could fall for TRUMP'S lies and just plain crap. Now I get it. They created his character (big mover and shaker) and he played it on television. The middle class watched this stupid show - I've never seen it, it was just plain STUPID. But most shows on television were then. This was pre-streaming. His followers think he is the guy they saw on television. They don't understand that the Emperor has no clothes. It's another version of " A Voice in the Crowd". But no matter what Trump says or does and we ALL see it. They believe him because he was that guy on that show that they got for free in the late 80' s - 90's. He's not him.

It's NOT NBC whose coming out here. It's them personally. IF they were still employed by NBC they would be sued BIG TIME for violating their employment agreements. They are no longer associated with the network, so now they can talk (they said they are retired)

I always thought it was a meme. The idea that Trump was successful was a joke which “sold” viewership. Everyone watched because he was a caricature of success. A joke. And that’s why the apprentice was popular?
Hollywood is the "Dream Factory" - they create illusions that people want to believe in. "Reality TV" shows are mostly illusions and people get caught up in them, even thinking that they could become like the participants. There's a lot psychological analysis covered in books about such a phenomenon which is related to stress (the greater societal stresses, the more will people want to retreat into illusions and the U.S. is a highly stressed-out country).

This is a normal thing in show business. Trump is not the first person to be given a false image by writers, directors and producers to become something they aren't.
They weren’t lying when they said reality tv will rot your brain. They weren’t being literal, necessarily, but it kind of explains why so many people are completely addicted to empty drama for its own sake, and unaware of how reality actually is. I think it also puts a lot of people in the place where they think things can be “too real”, meaning that they’re so self consciously sheltered from reality that they’re afraid of it.
