Barbra Streisand is one of the true mega stars. She has spanned over 6 decades of music. This lady has a fabulous voice & can sing many genres of music. She is a singer, actress & filmmaker & one of the few performers to have received awards in multiple fields of entertainment (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony). Love the musicals she was in especially "Funny Girl" & "Hello Dolly". She has so many great songs that were hits & she has done numerous duets with famous people.

Mr. Harri, I loved revisiting this song! I adore Barbra, always have, beginning at a young age. As an adult, it helps that I can sing in her key! ;) I used this song to successfully audition for a play my senior year of high school, so it remains close to my heart. In the movie, Kris and Barbra sing this song together, not a real duet, but close enough Wonderful version of the musical, if you haven't seen it I recommend it highly! Funny Girl is one of my favorite movies of hers. They sing this as a duet in the movie. Kris Kristofferson wrote Me and Bobby McGee that Janis Joplin made famous. There's a video on RUclips with Kris Kristofferson talking about his friendship with her and how the song came about.

Yes! re New York State of Mind! The version from "Superman" in 1977. Perfect song for a native New Yorker (Brooklynite) who needed to spend some time in NYC because she's fed up with LA--the Hollywood establishment had just finished shredding her for the highly successful "A Star Is Born". It's soulful, angry, tinged with frustration, and jazzy all at once. One of her best 70s performances.

Others have already said that Barbra Streisand composed the music for this song; I don't think anyone's mentioned how that came about though: up until she was cast in A Star Is Born, Babs didn't play the guitar at all. She learned to play it specifically for this part. One day she was noodling around on her guitar, and started humming a melody to the chords she was playing. Someone (presumably the film's composer, or possibly the director or Kris Kristofferson) said "hang on a sec, you're onto something there..." and thus was a timelessly beautiful melody born.

Check out 'Somewhere' by Streisand and check out her duet with Donna Summer 'Enough is Enough - No More Tears' (do the regular version, not the long version. The long version seems to lose something for me in terms of the impact. It's a dance mix and it misses a lot) - - the regular, radio-play version is the best. She also does a live performance duet with Judy Garland ('Happy Days are Here Again/Forget Your Troubles, Come on Get Happy) that is an absolute treasure and a cult favorite for fans of both Judy and Barbra.

Great reaction video, Harri, on the GOAT, Barbra Streisand. Kris and Barbra dueted on this song in the movie "A Star Is Born." I'm sure there's a YT video of that duet scene in the movie. Please do more Barbra, she's got a massive discography including many duets with major vocalists from Frank Sinatra to Donna Summer, to Celine Dion, to Michael Buble, to Ariana Grande and so many more, and you'd be hard pressed to find one song in her huge body of work that isn't stellar.

Kris....KRIS KRISTOFFERSON is who you see on this album cover with her. He's a very well known singer, songwriter, and musician. If you research him you'd be surprised how much music you have already listened to of his.
This album cover you're looking at was ALSO a movie, using the SAME title.
NOW...the original movie was made back in 1937. The A Star Is Born movie was made FOUR TIMES in the US in total, and there was a 2013 BOLLYWOOD movie that was inspired by it. The 1976 version of the MOVIE A Star is Born...is the one that starred Barbra Streisand AND Kris Kristofferson in it.
THIS song was not featured in THAT movie.
There was a movie called The Way We Were with Barbra Streisand AND Robert Reynolds. THAT movie is where THIS song Evergreen is featured.
It also has the theme song The Way We Were in it. That song is something that you absolutely need to listen to.
I hope this helps to clear this up a bit for you. #LINewYorkGenerationXBikerLady

"A Star is Born" with Streisand is an excellent movie, I had the 8 track tape/movie soundtrack and there are so many great songs on it. In the movie, Kristofferson didn't have much of a singing line in this song but it's so much better live in the movie. "Are You Watching Me Now" to close the movie is a must listen to.

The finale from this movie is just UNBELIEVABLE! Please check it out! This was the movie version from the '70s that Brady Cooper remade using Lady Gaga in Barbara's role. Kris played the Bradley Cooper role!

I'm eager to see your reaction to the Barbra Streisand/Donna Summer duet "No More Tears (Enough is Enough)" ;-)

Harri , Have you ever seen the movie Smokie and the Bandit. Paul Williams was the shorter guy in the red Cadillac that hired the Bandit. The Star is Born was the movie that Barbra was in with Kris. That song was on the soundtrack. Lady Gaga and Bradley Copper re did the new version of A Star is Born

Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson stared in the American musical romantic drama film from 1976 titled "A Star is Born". This song is from the soundtrack album by the same name.

They were in A Star is Born together and are both on the album. There is a reprise with both of them singing.
