I've honestly never seen Virgil as a left brained side. He's thomas's anxiety, and fears- yes he's also a form of preservation and in a way even reason, but his core funtion is fear and anxiety- which are both subjective feelings-- But besides my own interpitations, this animation is amazing and the fact that I'm a LAMP/polyamsanders shipper it made it even better-- thank you for this masterpeice-

Really? That's strange I've always thought of him as left brain. Like you said, his purpose is to get things done and is largely analytical (if you don't do x then that will quite possibly lead to y which will cause z and z is Not Good so do x) and the tools he uses (fear and anxiety) is simply an increase of epinephrine and a release of norepinephrine when you've finally completed the task. That's how I see it anyway.
I can’t remember what episode it was from but I remember Virgil describing himself as a “problem identifier”, which uses a lot of pattern recognition, which is a left brained skill. But I agree that “anxiety” is a very emotional trait. I’d say he has aspects of both. That one episode trying to categorize Virgil seemed to conclude that he doesn’t quite “fit in” under many labels, and this is probably part of the reason.
I totally agree that this one is amazing! I recommend the animatics of 'Friends on the other side'. There are two really good ones, plus it's Thomas's own medley. On that note, the 'recipe for me' animatic is also fantastic
