@@Fotenks Perpetual license is not what it might sound like as this software update policy, akin to a disguised subscription. A temporary cash cow until the software gets bought by a bigger, greedier company. It has been theorised and called enshittification.

Na it is not - working in Rhino doing explore interim move CVs trim and join again is so much more superior ;)

@@cekuhnen That's a stupid take, Rhino 3D has 26 years of development behind, Plasticity is barely one year old and mostly done by one person, of course it has more advanced features and can do different things.
@@SirdrakeCG You think so? Fine for you. After having used and taught Rhino for many years I was happy to instantly dump it when Fsuion360 came out. Rhino today has 10 ways to draw a line but sucks at making good surfaces or doing DM.

You mean more expensive and more expensive, when we were promised a completely different price and structure than what is being sold
This is awesome. Full round fillets and a bunch of enhancements to existing tools will make this a game changer in CAD/speed modeling.
I'd wish plasticity would focus more on the CAD part because there is already blender for the free modeling and as I come from an engineering background it's hard to adapt to this kind of work flow. I previously worked with solid works, inventor, fusion and that feels a lot "safer" because you can edit everything afterwards and jump back in the timeline.

Just read your terms before buying. I misunderstood myself, I bought an indie 1 year as well, but it was limited to 1.x updates. It was clear as day, I was hung up on the whole 12 month thing. I just made the jump and got the upgraded license, he's not cheating anyone.
Additionally, I'd just email him and ask them directly to get a straight answer. TBH. Go easy on em, I myself, feel like as ass for bashing him before understanding. He's a good dev.

Loving how the trial works, sadly though the import feature doesn't work in the trial copy; it will show the imported file in the left-hand menu- but you can't do anything with it. STL, OBL, FBX.
Slowly slowly I like this software. 😊

Is there a way to try out a demo version WITH the professional toolset (xNURBS, etc)? - i looking for a CAD application with similar toolset and logic like for eg.: Splacelcaim, but without the sluggish and buggy ACIS kernel :D I
have an exact job for it, wich im stuck now (sufae modelling, heavy splines, filleting etc, tried out the Plasticity demo version, bit couldnt solve it either) TY!

I would be happier about an update that let's me do the absolute basics instead of adding complex features. It's almost impossible to see the super tiny scale value when adding a primitive (especially on a high res monitor and because the label has no backdrop unless you enter edit mode while being directly on a line with the same color as the font). Editing that value is a pain in the ass (also due to a bug that just deletes the primitive when you type the desired value out and it starts with a zero). You can't even click with your mouse on the text label after pressing tab. Also it shows you a rounded value so you keep making mistakes by assuming the displayed value is the actual value. I bough the studio version and have regretted my purchase since the first hour because of this. I don't get why the devs don't iron out the basics before working on complex features that only a few people use. An option for viewport text size seems to be kinda important?
So how do I update, anyone? Sorry for asking this on youtube, but I can not see a find a link or a way to update within the app itself...

This is up to xNURBS (we license the technology). To be honest, it's unlikely they will port to linux.
Dang it, I wanted to get my hands on X-nurbs but I didn't read that X-nurbs does not come with the renewed indie license, I'll have to pay $200 to upgrade to the Studio license. That's $200 on top of the $100 I already paid for renewing the indie license. Well expensive lesson learned. Awesome program either way.
Just wait until your year is up, that's what I'm going to do. There probably won't be a discount for indie. Unless you are within the grace period after purchasing indie (2 weeks?) then I'd jump on it.

FYI anyone who bought indie version, They stealth changed their terms from "All updates included for 12 months, including major releases" to "All VERSION updates included for 12 months, including major releases". So they don't have to honor their original terms. Shady company

It is not a subscription, you can keep the software and work with it forever. You just pay for updates and new features every year. Seems fair and normal practice.

@@lyrosepl true, perhaps the price to move to a newer version could be discounted. But we do not know the information on costs of providing the software, maybe the initial price is something of a loss leader, in which case this price would rise in return for future discounts on renewals, but then people would say greedy developer raising price!
