This software is really a boon for artists and it creates really amazing results. Also remember we are getting the Plant factory which is an amazing plant creation tool. All these can be exported to unreal as well. Only thing is you cannot sell any of these models.

@@UnknownDino Yes you can. Only thing you cannot sell are models from plant catalog which is kinda obvious. But you can totally create any plant in PlantFactory and sell it

This is nothing short of amazing. Vue is something I have always pined after but could never justify the cost. I wonder though if this means the end of development for Vue. I am also really curious about why they made this move; purchasing E-on out and then just giving it away. Doesn't make sense unless there is something else behind it that we don't know. Who knows? I'm just glad to have it.

Because the software is outdated and no one needs it anymore. You can do landscape generation with most software today at a higher level of flexibility and quality.
Totally excited about this! I played with Vue D'esprit 2 I think, back in the 90s, but haven't used it since due to the price.
Amazing I used this from version 6 and had a license for VUE 7. Can't wait to do some cool stuff with this again.

I had a license to Vue quite a few years ago - gave up because of the ongoing costs - and I can see that its complexity hasn't changed.

There are some Realtime Plant Presets. you can also create LOD level and billboards. So yes its also build for game engines

Can we use this instead of UE5.4 for creating game environments? Because if this is lightweight compared to UE it would be a life saver!
Contrary to popular believes, this doesn’t cost that much to run.
4+GB to 8+ GB of VRAM and 8+ to 16+ GB of RAM should be enough to run this.
Which is better? Speedtree or plantfactory? Ignoring prices and learning curves which produce better results and are easier to use?
SpeedTree is likely better. They are both really powerful though. One huge difference is that SpeedTree natively supports the integration of photogrammetry.

I haven't gotten to use it yet but I would assume so, all you have to do is export the terrain model and import to Blender.

Waaaaa ! No Linux support...
According to one of the devs they had planned a linux version a few years back. Got 90% of the way there and scrapped it for reasons unknown. So once again we are out of luck.

Blender has always been free and ever since version 2.8 it has become very user friendly too so I don't think it will be a very big thing since blender has also gained a lot of popularity too

Yes, this was available way before Nanite and other world building tools came to U.E - and still has better terrain and world building features compared to UE at least for now.
